  1. Apologies in advance because I know this question has been answered at least 15 times. For those that have been ... how strict is the dress code at the restaurants? I know Le Chique is pretty formal and Spoons is more casual. What about all the others? I'm thinking for the guys, I can count on all my guests to be in shorts and flip flops so I'll need to send out a mass ALERT before our wedding. What about pants and flip flops? Shorts and shoes? Will they REALLY turn guests away if they look decent enough? Are we ladies safe wearing pretty much anything (aside from swimsuit/wraps)? Thank you! Any other advice for what to advise guests of ahead of time? I read in a review about a timeshare "scam" - hate those - so I'll add something about that. I'm thinking of creating a one page flyer of some sort and emailing it to everyone a few weeks out.
  2. I know, self tanner is scary. I've used both of these: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P259939&categoryId=B70 I love this one: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P188203&categoryId=S2100&shouldPaginate=true
  3. I voted - good luck! We're getting legally married in the US the Monday before our Saturday WEDDING and we're not keeping it a secret or making a big deal of it. Our parents and sisters will be there and most likely my Grandma, who can't make the long trip to Mexico. It'll be very casual and our anniversary no doubtably will be October 22nd, our wedding date. :) Tisha - LOVED your tan. That's the color I want! I've thought about this too since I have a feeling I'll only really have one good day of Mexico sun before the wedding. I think tanning beds are awful for your skin but I might make an exception for this one time in life and go a couple times before the wedding. I usually have good luck with Mystic tans (my skin is already slightly tan) but they don't last very well in the pool and that's where I'll be! I might do some self tanner at some point while I'm down there, "tanning towels" are easy to pack and aren't messy. As for skincare, I've already been trying hard to take care of my face...I had to stop the pill (after over 10 years!!) a couple weeks ago so crossing my fingers that whatever minor breakouts come, come in the near future, nowhere near October! Congratulations on your wedding! Love the parasols
  4. Maggie - great suggestion! It got me thinking...how big are the room key cards at the hotel? Maybe I could get them card cases and they could stick their room key in there?
  5. omg, the picture in your suite with the tp and "get it on" roses is hilarious! Well done...I assume by your bridesmaids??
  6. Congrats, that's such an awesome feeling! Big thing to cross off the list! Thanks - can't wait to look at more!
  7. Oh wow, I budgeted about $28k for this mexico wedding (not that I know how to come up with all of it!), so I'm glad to hear yours was much less. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised and come in way under! Good to know and be reminded that it always comes together and it's ALWAYS about the uniting of bride and groom. My fiance and I bought his wedding band today and he teared up when the sales lady was saying I was going to be a beautiful bride. He was about to lose it. He's the best and I can't wait for our day! Thanks for all the input!
  8. Jaime - I love your pictures! Thanks for sharing! Your dress and hair and everything looks great . Your bouquet...was that in the $200 range and did they wrap it with that ribbon (did you bring your own ribbon?) - I know I'll have more questions for you but for now, welcome home and congratulations!
  9. Do you remember her name? It couldn't hurt to request her . The ceremony is super important to me and we're writing the entire thing ourselves basically so I want someone reliable! Thanks! And thanks Maggie for all the "late night" ideas. It sounds like you had a blast!!!!
  10. Maggie - love your curls. Did the Salon do your hair? How was the beer pong welcome party, that sounded like so much fun! Also...where did you "party" after hours? Was there any dancing anywhere (teen club???)? Thanks!
  11. I don't think they were real flowers but I'll let her answer . If they weren't they sure LOOKED real!
  12. Gorgeous pics of our recent May brides!! You're making me so excited! Tisha - who was your coordinator?
  13. Marianne, I took my site visit to the area nov 19-22 and thought the weather was great. It was really windy one day but I attributed it to the tropical storm that was passing through. I'm getting married end of October and I KNOW it'll be a great fall this year! I'm getting married on the sky deck and hoping for little wind b/c I'm definitely wearing my hair mostly down!
  14. Congrats!!!!!!!! I can't believe your wedding is behind you and you're enjoying your honeymoon. Amazing! So glad tohear everything went well and obviously can't wait to hear even more. Sounds like you were pretty darn organized (which I plan on being too:) ) - enjoy your new hubby and your time together!! You're there! Whoo hooo...enjoy the relaxing days leading up to the big day, we're all so happy for you!
  15. Thank you! I just found this company today. I'm going to ask my WC if there is a preferred and then get a few quotes so I'll probably contact Paul. Do you have his email? Thanks!
  16. That's kind of what I was expecting. I'll send a quick note to my WC, Erika. I have left her alone for a month or two to give all the Spring brides their time . Thanks! Quote: We have cancun video. I think they were considered a preferred vendor, as I don't recall any vendor fee.
  17. Ok...I think I've come to grips with the fact that we should hire a videographer (even though I hate myself on camera!!!) I know a few people have hired cancun video and had a great experience, are there any other suggestions? Also, do we think this means ANOTHER vendor fee?!?!
  18. Still about 5 months away from the wedding but thank you! We're excited It's not an easy choice b/t Sapphire and Jade. I wish it was...Jade is definitely newer and nicer in a lot of ways and I liked the pool set up better. But it felt less like Mexico and I loved the more authentic feel of Sapphire. I liked the staff better at Sapphire too. We had an ocean front room at Sapphire which was awesome! The interior of the room wasn't as nice (and new) as Jade though. I didn't eat enough at Sapphire to be able to compare to Jade. I don't think you can drink water at either??? Also, when we were at Jade, the resort was oversold so it felt super crowded, which I wasn't thrilled with. Also, I got eaten alive by mosquitos but a tropical storm had passed, so it might've been weather more than hotel? But it is built on a swamp (and got stinky after the storm) so maybe....Sorry I can't be more definite, but if I were to go back, I'd stay at Sapphire. Good luck!!
  19. Great news about Doremixx, did you have Ivan himself? I have them booked for my wedding in October. The music and dancing is super important to us so I'm happy to hear a recent review! Where was your reception? They allowed cold fireworks!?!? YAYYY! You look gorgeous!!!! And so does the weather Congratulations!!!!
  20. Do you remember the name of the woman who performed your ceremony? Did you have an entire script written out (do they send you something to start from)? When did you actually meet her? Thanks!!!
  21. I think most people get organza...for me, I want something with more structure and weight (especially because of the wind factor). What website are you finding the options? I would LOVE a pintuck table runner, personally!
  22. How creative, I love it! Sounds like a blast! I just booked my bachelorette in Vegas the first weekend in August, gotta come up with some fun theme to go with too!
