  1. Hi everyone...the more I research both NOW Jade and NOW Sapphire, the more I'm leaning towards Sapphire. I like the ceremony and reception locations better I think. Has anyone been to both resorts and can offer your perspective? Is anyone having their ceremony on the "beach deck"? I'd rather NOT get married in the sand, I know I know...I'm at a beach...but I want to wear cute shoes! Â annkho - I sent them an email and it took them a couple days before sending the wedding package info. I asked about available dates and still nothing...I'm hoping my travel agent has better luck! I'm at a computer all day so it's hard not to get antsy!! Â avong1228 - I hope you don't mind that I took a peek at your website, it's awesome! I love the style of it..what service did you use? That's one of the next things on our list to do... Â
  2. murmel - thanks for the reassurance about fall weather. Let me know how it is when you go this year! I can't wait to set a date, whenever it might be!
  3. I apologize for being so clueless, but does any one have advice about who to contact about finding out if certain dates are available for a wedding next year? Do I need to go through a GI consultant? We're also planning to do a site in November so I'd like to set that up with someone. The website didn't list an email...thank you!
  4. Does anyone have a better email to try other than the one posted on the website? I emailed a week ago for information but haven't heard back and now I'm wanting them to check a few dates for me...thanks!
  5. I'm looking forward to the call! A couple more questions: ~What are some unique entertainment options we could add to our event? ~How can I find out about a date or a few dates being available (I emailed the email address days ago)? ~When do we start talking details (flower arrangements, day-of schedule, vendors, etc)?
  6. Thanks JaimeCF2BR for your 2 cents regarding weather in early fall. Every opinion counts! It's also going to come down to what dates are available. If we're considering early June (is it super hot and humid yet?! Maybe?) we'd need to act fast. I would love nothing more to book first week of November for less chance of rain but it would take a lot of coordination between me and my friend who just told me they're getting married 10/29 in Puerto Vallarta....Early October is just making me nervous!!
  7. Thanks everyone, every opinion counts and I have a feeling there's no clear perfect answer. It's gonna take a little leap of faith whenever we choose to do it. I would love nothing more for last week of October/first week of November but with our friends booking on the 29th, it makes it pretty hard. I'm trying not to get upset about it There are still options and I'd love to hear more opinions. Is early June safer heat/rain wise than July? skadow - thanks for that webstie link - awesome! I had pm-ed Matt a few hours before you sent that, great minds think alike! It has great information but it's not totally what I want to hear about early October...bummer.
  8. Awesome feedback! Keep us updated about the weather because it's close to this time next year that I'm looking to book (early october). I've recently been worrying a lot about the rain... didn't realize how close it was to hurricane season. We're planning on a larger wedding as well (75 - 85), did you see any ceremony options for a group that size other than the beach? Las Olas sounds like a perfect reception area. Oh and I'd definitely pay the extra for upgraded chairs!! Thank you! Â
  9. My FI and I have been throwing out "October 2011" to friends and family as a wedding timeframe for months now. We didn't move fast enough and a friend booked her wedding October 29th. So I feel like the earliest I can do in October is the 1st (or the 8th if I want to push it). I'm freaking about weather at that time. The weather forcast this year is for all rain, everyday. Yuck. Can I really take that chance? Soooooo....the other option is to book it for June or July, which seems a lot sooner and a little more complicated in terms of working around existing plans but it's doable if the weather will be more reliable. I know there's no PERFECT formula here; I've been on a dozen weather websites to see past patterns. I'm just hoping to get some REAL feedback and hear others' experiences. Thank you in advance!!!
  10. Hi everyone! This thread is full of great information! We haven't decided on our wedding date yet but we're strongly considering early October 2011 (like 10/1/11). I'm having anxieties about the weather around that time...is anyone else getting married in the fall? Has anyone been during that time of year? Our back up plan would be June, July, even August but doesn't it get really hot? Thanks in advance for your help and input.
  11. Hi Ladies...I'm pretty new to this site (other than reading through a couple different threads, this one is the longest I've come across!) We have yet to decide on the resort we'll have our wedding at next year but Azul Sensatori is in the top 3. We plan to visit in mid-November to decide for sure. Question for all of you...I see that there are a lot of Spring brides but that might be too soon for us. What's everyone's opinion on weather in the area and when it's best? We had our hearts set on early October but now I'm reading more and more that talks about a lot of rain during that time. Has anyone been in fall? If October isn't ideal, is June or July totally out of the question? Thanks in advance for your input!
  12. Hello to everyone on this thread! I've been reading through the recent pages and am excited to potentially be a part of the conversations... We're looking at early October 2011 (ideally 10/1/11) for our wedding date and NOW Sapphire and NOW Jade are our top 2 venue choices (also in the running are Azul Sensatori, Dreams Riviera and La Reve). We're planning a trip to see all 5 in November; hopefully we'll lock in a date while we're there. I've sent an email for additional information to the email on the NOW website. In the meantime, I was hoping to get your feedback on a couple things: 1. Has anyone been to the RM in early October? What's the weather like? I see a lot of Spring brides, we just can't pull off something that soon I don't think 2. What is your opinion on the differences b/t Sapphire and Jade? It's hard to really know much from the website... 3. Is anyone else planning a wedding for a large group (maybe 80+)? What ceremony and reception areas would work for that? I'd rather NOT a beach ceremony... 4. Does anyone feel comfortable sharing what your group room rate is? That's going to be a major decision factor in where we choose on having the wedding. Already, 95% of our guests will be flying from California. Â Thank you in advance!!!
  13. I'm excited to attend! I'm in the very beginning stages of planning so I bet this will be educational in a lot of ways. Â A couple questions (all may not be able to be answered by Pilar): ~How many weddings are held in a day? Is there a max? ~I'd like to do a site visit in November...do wedding coordinators give tours/information? How long in advance do I need to make an appointment? ~What is the difference in cost between having a sit down dinner vs. buffet. How many entree choices are offered for each? ~Why is a champagne toast additional if a full bar is included? Is champagne not included in the full hosted bar? ~If I pay to rent chivarri or bamboo chairs for the ceremony, can I have them for the reception as well? ~How does a room block work? Do we get a better rate for the higher number of rooms we expect/guarantee? Is this something we work on with a TA? Whats the average room rate as part of a room block of 30 rooms? ~I assume you'll discuss ceremony and reception sites. ~What's the weather like in the fall? Â Thanks!
  14. Hi! I've been reading through (quietly researching as you can tell by my lurker status) the various threads as my guy and I are researching various resorts in the Riviera Maya...Azul Sensatori is definitely top 3, mostly due to the sky deck! I LOVE the look of it and the idea of being right at the beach but not ON the beach. Obviously, the hotel as a whole looks amazing and everyone has such wonderful things to say about their experiences there. How cool are the swim up suites?! Anyways, I've been lost as to where to start with budget everything. I have numbers in my head but I need to start wrapping my head around all various aspects to come up with a reasonable starting point. I would love to keep it under 20k with about 80ish people. I'm an event manager by profession (corporate events) so I know how things add up! Amanda, your budget sounds pretty reasonable considering what you're getting and where you're getting it! Would you mind sending me your detail sheet? If that's too personal, maybe just some of the hotel elements? P.S. Chivarri chairs are a must for me! Â
  15. I'm looking for pretty much exactly the same information. I sent Tammy a message, I'll let you know if I can find any information. Love the idea of buying out the resort and I love even more that it's all inclusive. I just worry about the cost! 80 people is what we hope to have as well which makes me think this place is the perfect size!
  16. I'm as new as you can get on this forum but I haven been reading people's reviews about various resorts along the riviera maya...your breakdown was so helpful to read through - thank you! Would you mind if I asked you a couple questions? I'd love to know what your budget was seeing as your wedding had some of the same characteristics I'd like mine to have...about 70-80 people, all inclusive resort, 4 hour reception w/ dj, full day of photography. I'm guessing it could easily add up to 20k with travel and all the added elements. Also, what kind of room rate did you get? Did your TA help with that? And would you suggest working with a TA immediately (do they charge $$$)? Thanks a million!!
