  1. Awesome review!! I took down notes I've never felt so positive about this resort! And the Bamboo Room sounds like it worked out great, I've been a little skeptical about it but the more I think about it, the AC might be nice. I'm so attached to the lantern-look, it's good to know they can be used indoors! Did they look cool or a little random? One more question...your centerpieces. You said they used flowers from outside? Do you mean that they re-used flowers from the ceremony? I've been thinking of ways to do that...even if it's taking the bridesmaids bouquets and plopping them in a vase on the table (well, maybe not that simple but you know what I mean....) Thanks for all the info!!!!
  2. Hopefully you've got the worst behind you and they'll try extra hard to make it up to you now. Glad you finally got the room you wanted Enjoy your wedding celebrations!!!!
  3. The Pergola looks awesome! That's the spot I have reserved for next October You guys look great as well! Thanks for sharing!
  4. Your experience sounds amazing!!! I love the stories of getting upgraded, having the restaurant closed for you, getting tables put together at brunch...it's so VIP! Do you know how many people El Patio seats? And for the 4 hour reception (which is the lenght I want), did you pay anything extra for the private bar set up or extra hour? It sounds like a blast, congrats!! Oh...where did you have your ceremony if you didn't already say?
  5. Thanks for sharing the pictures and review! Congratulations. And hey, those 5 days before your wedding got you a great tan! I have a deposit down for October 23 next year and I'm still a little anxious about the date. You mentioned rain every day...was it like a warm tropical rain? What's your opinion on having your wedding when you did? It obviously looks like everything was perfect! Did you do any extra decor or lighting? Thanks!
  6. I've been trying to get a clear answer on this outside vendor thing (esp regarding photographers) for awhile...My TA (GI specialist) can't answer it...the policy sounds strict but I keep seeing that people find ways around it. Elizabeth Medina shot a wedding there in May, yet she can't tell me how that happened!? Maybe she was booked before the policy? Are you clear on it? The photographer CAN be from Mexico but not the Cancun area? Hmmm...photography is one of my main priorities and this policy might be the one reason I choose NOT to book Azul Sensatori or Azul Beach (I have a $200 deposit holding a date). Flying a photographer (a GOOD one) seems expensive. And then they tack on a $500 outside vendor fee?!
  7. Did you ever get an answer back about how to contact Jehda? I have a couple questions for her! Did you decide on this resort? I have a deposit down on this one and a few others ... Thanks
  8. Fair enough. I can't imagine the logistics of dealing with 2 resorts and some people staying at each and going back and forth but I do understand what your thought process was! I can't shake the feeling that I haven't yet found the PERFECT fit for ceremony and reception and I know I'm incredibly picky, which is why we're flying down to see them Nov 20 -23. Wait, that's not when your wedding is, is it?! I'm still wondering if there are ceremony options somewhere in Puerto Morelos (but not at a different resort although I LOVE LOVE LOVE Secrets' gazebo, but it's just not an option). It'll all come together on your day and everyone will have a blast...especially you and your man!
  9. Again, I feel like we're on the same wavelength! Crazy. I am obsessed with that beach and even more obsessed with the gazebo at Secrets Maroma. It's everything I dreamed my wedding would be like when I started looking at RIviera Maya. I begged my TA, thinking she could somehow tell me kids were allowed (we only have 2 little ones!). Still a little heartbroken we can't have it there. But you wouldn't suggest doing it the way you are?
  10. OMG! You're at your reception right now! I hope everything today was PERFECT! Congratulations!
  11. Looks like TS Richard is steering clear of your wedding day. Can't wait to hear all about it!
  12. Yep, civil ceremony for us too. I have no idea how many people will rsvp but since we're inviting 160 (I know, I know...), I'm thinking a little under half will make it. I hope it's not MORE than 70! And yes, we're planning on using engagement photos for a save the date (assuming they come out well). We bought some colorful sombreros and want to do something funny. I'll post them on here once we make them. I'll for sure report back about our site visit next month. I'll take lots of pictures!!
  13. Wow you're on it! I've put a deposit down for October 23, 2011! We might be there at the same time. You're ahead of the game in my estimation...or at least ahead of me! FI and I are visiting the RM next month to make our final decision. I'm holding the gazebo and pool deck for around 70 ppl. What about you? We're doing engagement photos next Friday and hope to get save the dates out in early December.
  14. Gorgeous pics! Wow, thanks for sharing those. Love the gold chivarri chairs (were they $10 per chair?) Also, the centerpieces..did you bring your own frames? Did they charge you to put the candle there? Thanks!
  15. Ok, that's totally what I was imagining when you said you were going to have three cold sparklers. I figured they must be the big guys. I really like the way those look in photos. And for the hand held ones, I was thinking exactly what you are, doing it as the last thing before the photog leaves (maybe an hour before the reception ends). There's a good website that I found that has cute, creative ways of displaying them for people to take. I'll try to find it... Sounds like you've got most of it planned out. I think a week ahead of time will let you get things done at a leisurely pace so you're not frantic. How fun!!
  16. Thanks, I know they're really strict. I'll be down there for a site in November checking out 4 resorts (Azul S is one of them). It sounds like their policies keep changing and in the packet I received, it said no outside vendors. It gave me hope to see that you shot a few weddings (not too long ago) at Azul resorts so I thought I'd see if you knew how you got in! If I choose Azul, I'm going to do everything I can to choose my own photographer...or I might just not choose that resort.
  17. Not bad pricing for the fire dancers but again, annoying that the story keeps changing. I work in corporate events (for 6 years) and we get everything in writing and wouldn't DARE change things, it's hard to understand how they do it this way...this is what I have to look forward to for the next year?!?! Uh oh! What are cold sparklers? Funny you mentioned the slide show, I think we're going to do one too. FI and I have known each other since 5th grade and have the same hometown so we have some fun pictures . Good to know that Ivan can bring the equipment. It's going to look okay outside? I guess if it's a big screen, yeah... Let me know how this works too!! What point in the night are you doing it? I was kind of imagining right after our first dance...like it starts while our dance ends? I'm not sure if that'll be awkward though, really haven't thought it through. Maybe before or after speeches? Like you, I want all the scheduled stuff to be done pretty quickly so we can just have fun!!
