Helen, I friended a fellow bride on FB who just got married at Playacar Palace using their comp package. Her pic is below. It's all white drapery with white avant-garde chairs (she brought lilac chair bows with her) I am bringing my own photographer (I lucked out that my best friend is an amazing photog) so I don't need a photography package, could care less about fireworks (which are really just like sparklers and firecrackers in the background), and the videographer can be purchased for around $350 I think - and you can even use your Vacation $$ to pay for that. When all was said and done, it was pretty much like I was going to pay about 2k for decorations. I scoped around on here and decided to bring my own tulle chair sashes - I actually found 40 of them (aqua) for FREE on the sashsharing freecycle forum - but you can also get rent them online for about a dollar a piece and just pack them and bring them to the resort. I am going to do the same with any other decorations for the ceremony as well!

Does anyone have or know where I can get (or for that matter how to search for) aqua and/or lemon yellow draping for the arch thingie-jigger? Lol, I am sooo not good at this. I am doing the complimentary wedding package so it will be all white like below...

Hi Merrylee - I would check with your MP WC on that. I am getting married at Playacar Palace and the only thing I had to authorize the credit card for was a $300 cancellation fee in the event that we canceled within 45 days of the wedding. I am getting the complimentary package too! Perhaps your TA was talking about the fee for the room block??? But as far as I would think, both resorts should have similar policies since they are both Palace.

Hi there! I am getting married at Playacar Palace in January 2012. The private function that you would get could be used for your reception or a welcome dinner or a rehearsal dinner society and so on - whichever one you choose. The unlimited private functions, you wouldn't have to choose - you could have a private event every night if you wanted to As far as the group contract goes, I would contact your TA since you said you had one. My TA is the one who I will be going through to do all of my bookings. Good luck, and congratulations!!!

Hey there! I got the same contract from Lauren. From her email as well as a call to the 877 line, I got this - the charge authorization would be filled out for a deposit of half your wedding package. In the case of a complimentary wedding, you would fill in 0 for the deposit. The credit card into is needed for the cancellation fee of $300 if needed. Even though the wedding is comped, there is still a fee if the wedding is cancelled within 45 days. I am not doing anything yet with the room block, as I am still in the process of talking to two prospective TAs (one of which is Teresa who is amazingly prompt and thorough with her emails - [email protected]) and I just mailed out my Save the Dates yesterday. I'll wait to get some feelers on who will be coming before I cross that bridge

Ugh, I'm actually looking for a dress for a TTD session, but I swore to my FI that I wouldn't spend more than $100. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know!

Hi Jessica! My FI and I will be doing the same thing. We are getting married in a Palace Resort, so we will be using their registry, as well as a traditional one for our things back here. I am also from Philly and having an AHR! We are having ours at Richmond Hall

I love this thread ladies!!!! My FI has also squeezed my hand extra tight whenever the Taylor Swift "Love Story" comes on. In fact, he jokes and says that Taylor Swift "only sings one song" lol, and that he knew it was right when he walked into the jewelry store to buy my ring, and that song came on as soon as he walked in the door Sooo....I found this amazing version of called Love Story Meets Love that has a bit of a mash-up with Viva La Vida that I will be using. I'm just not sure if I will have my flower girls and MOH walk out to the first part, and me to the latter. You look so beautiful in both!! My dress is much like the dress you purchased (I am having a beach wedding in Mexico, so I loved the ruffles), but if you feel that the first one would be more fitting for a church wedding (the beading and lace are breathtaking) then go for it - if you can afford it, of course. Perhaps post the first dress on here and try to put out some feelers to see if anyone would be interested in purchasing it so that you can recoup some of the cost? Either way, you look absolutely stunning in both. You only get to do this once, you should feel like a million bucks!!
