  1. I just wish people would be honest instead of wasting our time. If you're coming, book the trip. If you're not, for whatever reason, I understand. The rest of my planning is on hold until we get some real numbers from people that have booked. I try to encourage our wedding party to book now because of the dollar parity, but no one seems in any rush. How are we supposed to order dresses and suits if you haven't booked? It's the same thing with losing weight. FMIL and MoH tell me they want to lose weight, we've been warning you of the impending wedding for over a year. If you haven't started yet, don't expect miracles. I don't want to have to find replacement bridesmaids. I actually looked at the list of witnesses that our resort provides and thought, hmmm.... who will ever see the marriage cert and ask who is that.
  2. Kristibear - Have no worries. Moon Palace is super safe. Most of the criminal activity is on the other side of the country. Cancun is still very safe and Moon Palace is secluded away from everything.
  3. So sorry that it didn't turn out. The front looks good, but the back is very strange. I really hope that you are able to have Gianinar replace your dress. It almost looks like they rushed to finish it. I know that with Monica Bridal they don't receive payment from DHGate unless you are satisfied.
  4. I tracked down my dress. It is at the post office. FI is going to pick it up tomorrow at lunch. I hope they release it to him without a card and with my name on the package.
  5. Congratulations! I heard back from my MP WC and I have my gazebo confirmed and the terrace for our cocktails and private dinner. She also confirmed that there is no charge to use their power if we bring our own speakers and iPod. And no charge if we do the decor set up.
  6. Karen, I think you just need to take it to a good seamstress for alterations. It is hard to tell though standing on a white bed. Do you have your shoes yet? Maybe it won't be so long?
  7. I finally took a picture of my e-ring that turned out not too fuzzy.
  8. skp1 - you can easily change the color of a picture in publisher. So maybe just convert or cut & paste the Aylee template to Publisher.
  9. We're both away for work a lot, so it helps to have an understanding partner. So far this year we have only been at home together for two months! And yes, everything for the wedding will be completely paid for far in advance. It's just tough to plan together when we're apart And then I feel bad for occupying our short weekend visits with wedding stuff. Bonnie, you've given me lots of helpful advice and that's what counts. Good for you getting the DIY invites done so soon. I'm trying to get ours finished so we can mail them out when I go home next weekend. And to add one more to your list: Bridezillas that aren't happy with anything or just have a negative expectation from the beginning.
  10. Very nice pics Lua, the fall colours are perfect.
  11. I actually tease my FI about it. The very first piece of jewelery he bought me was for my birthday, 3 months after we met. He bought me a David Yurman bracelet with a pave diamond x. About six months later I noticed one of the stones fell out. Thankfully, Holt Renfrew replaced the whole bracelet. The day after I got my Tacori e-ring which has .25 ct of pave diamonds, I noticed one was missing. We took it to a local Tacori dealer that offered to send it back to Tacori for repair. I didn't want to part with it, so we had the jeweler that set my center stone replace it for free. So now I tease him that it's a good thing he buys me expensive name brand jewelery so that when the stones fall out they are replaced for free.
  12. Lisa, the wait will be even more difficult for me. I haven't seen FI in 5 weeks, I haven't been home or seen our puppy in 2 months, and I still have to fly back after the weekend for few weeks away.
  13. Bonnie, I am so glad that you are getting married around the same time as me. You always have such knowledgeable advice. As an aside, when I showed the pictures of my dress to a bridal shop manager she was very impressed and was proud that I got such a great deal. Everybody needs to make money somehow, I understand that. I tried several times to purchase a gown from a bridal shop, but couldn't find anything that I wanted. So I cut out the middle man and went direct to a dress manufacturer that could provide what I want. Lisa, I'm not too worried because the postal code is still in our area. I figure the pick up notice will be delivered tomorrow. It definitely is the correct address, I verified it several times. I still won't be home for another week, so no panic yet.
  14. Zelda - if you can take the chance, you might want to consider purchasing vases there. In Cancun there is a Walmart, a Costco and several other large department stores that should carry clear vases. SUBMIT
  15. This is definitely the best one. The shoulder strap will sparkle and shimmer perfectly in the sun and water. Plus the slit is very sexy. Just make sure to double stitch the top of the slit just in case.
  16. As soon as I saw, I though it was the perfect reception dress. It's a Pnina Tornai but there's no way I would pay for the original. I'm desperately trying to wait until I order the BM dresses before I order that one. But it's so cute I want it right away... I promised my BMs that I would wait until Dec 1 to order dresses so they could slim down (their request not mine.)
  17. For the Canadian girls - I just tracked mine on EMS and it says it was delivered to another postal code. Does that mean it's at the post office?
  18. I also think that a more formal invite with travel information is required. Although most people use the internet, they may not have access to your website because of workplace restrictions, etc. I also think it's important to include those that don't access the web. You don't want somebody to miss out on attending your wedding just because they don't use internet.
  19. Sure - you don't need to give all the details, just what you know like the month, destination and the cruise line. Maybe you can word it more along the lines of an engagement announcement.
  20. knitgirl - I agree with Lua, skip the STD and send out your invites! On a side note, my sister lives in Fairfax. Where is your wedding?
  21. Bonnie, I'm a little worried I will end up with a closet full of dresses! I'm going to try to wait until I pick a BM dress and order them all at once. At least that way I can get a discount on the quantity. But from the beginning I have wanted a separate ceremony and reception dress. Now I can have both for less than $500. And one for the bridal shower, and the welcome dinner, and the rehearsal dinner, hehe. The list goes on.
