  1. Maybe ask at your resort? Most resorts offer symbolic or legal ceremonies.
  2. dby88 - I ordered pumpkin chair sashes. How would you describe the color? It was the closest they had to orange, but now I'm worried they will be too light.
  3. Tenny - I'm sure it will all work out and you'll end up with your dream wedding. Good luck with your invites. Ours were a ton of work too and I don't think I would do it again.
  4. Lua - I really hope you find out what happened with your order.
  5. Ella - At the resort we are figuring that we will end up with about 30-40 people, so we are doing a cocktail hour immediately following the ceremony, a 2 hour break for us to take pictures, then a private buffet dinner on a terrace. We get the cocktail hour free with 15 booked nights and the private dinner free with 60 booked nights so we're really hoping on hitting that number early on. At our dinner we will have our traditional dances and then we're going to the resort disco to end off the night. If we get 75 booked nights we have unlimited free events, so we will add a welcome dinner and night before dinner. We will be holding some sort of event when we return, not sure where or the style of it. We live in Niagara, my parents live in Ottawa and his parents live near Kingston, so who knows. I would love to use his parents huge back yard, but his mom hates having people see the house because it's smaller. I think it would be perfect as long as we had nice weather and could use the back yard. But she probably wouldn't allow it. We really need to look for a venue.
  6. Lua, I think both times I ordered I got the payment confirmation within a few minutes, the fedex tracking arrived in an email a couple hours later and because I had them shipped within the US they arrived the next day. The shipping confirmation came from [email protected] so maybe it went to your junk mail?
  7. Amazing stuff! You're wedding will be beautiful and all your guests honoured to attend. Good luck with the new business when you get back.
  8. I'm so glad to see that there is lots of us multiple dress brides. I went shopping again yesterday and although every dress I tried fit perfectly and looked great, no special feeling.
  9. It looks a lot like one sold at David's Bridal http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Short-Charmeuse-Dress-with-Ruched-Waist-Pockets-INT83707_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Silhouette-Short
  10. Erin - Thanks. Are you ordering the regular or over sized post cards? We got the over sized because we don't plan on needing any more that 50, and they are huge. But at least we won't have to worry about them getting lost in the OOT bags.
  11. Bonnie, The dress does look great on her. The train is beautiful. I'm glad to see a larger size turn out well. I'm still considering having Monica Bridal do our BM dresses, but was concerned since my MoH is size 16.
  12. aholen - Gorgeous dresses. I love the back of your ceremony gown and the short one is so cute with the detailing.
  13. Michele, once I get home I will try to get a crinoline and try my dress on again with some friends. It probably will help to be done up pretty instead of rushing around after work. The first time my mom and I went dress shopping we saw another bride in full bridal hair and make-up so it probably helps. Maybe I will ask me stylist to do something special with my hair so I can decide for sure if I need to do more shopping. I'm sending our invites tomorrow and I put an RSVP date of February 16th, two months before our departure date, also the date that the resort wants final payment. It's still nice to know if they might attend but are just waiting for a deal to book. I also included a line for expected arrival date and time.
  14. Yes, unfortunately we both work in the construction industry so from January to April we were both away from home, but working on the same job so we got to see each other all day every day, from May to July he was about a two hour drive away so I would visit him on weekends even though he was still working 14 hour days, we got engaged at the end of July and I left at the beginning of September to come out west. He came to visit for a weekend in October, and I went home for a weekend last month. It's so crazy! To top it off, I have to come back out west at the end of January until the beginning of April! They want me to stay longer, but I said no way am I spending the last couple of weeks before our wedding away from FI. My dad teases me that I'm a mail order bride showing up days before the wedding. Most of the other planning was going well since I had the help of all the amazing people here with suggestions. It also helps that there is nothing else for me to do at night. The whole dress nightmare is a result of being in a small city. There isn't much selection in the Canadian Prairies?!? Also, my BMs are all spread out in Ottawa, Washington and Niagara so even finding dresses for them is difficult. But aside from attire, I think most everything else is good. FI has been wonderful and understanding throughout the whole process and tried to help in any way he could Sometimes I wish we had a longer engagement so we could enjoy it and prepare more, but I can't wait any longer to be married to the man of my dreams.
  15. Lisa, I never saw the original version so that's not the problem. I'm just not excited at all about my dress and I wasn't excited about any dresses. It just plain sucks because at this point I'm starting to feel so discouraged that nothing wedding related is going the way I would like. Maybe we should have just eloped? Or maybe I just don't want to give up looking at wedding stuff? After being away from home for the last three months while trying to plan our wedding, I'm finally headed back to FI at the end of the week. Maybe once I am home I'll feel better abut everything.
  16. Brandy, I wrote a reply in the "show us your dress" thread. The more I think about it, the less I want to wear the dress. I think I should have just tried to sell it before alterations.
  17. Brandy, I told my FI last night about my dress insecurities. He asked if I wanted permission to buy another dress. And reminded me that he didn't care what I wore, I would look beautiful to him and that's what mattered. But I don't want to look blah and I don't feel great in my dress. I really don't feel like this is the dress that I want to be married in. I've tried on at least 100 dresses and haven't liked any of them. I just felt pressure to buy a dress. Even trying on the dress with the alterations done didn't make me feel any better. The seamstress forgot to move a couple of things, so I have to go back on Monday to pick it up. I just don't know what to do. I know I don't have time to order a new dress, so I would have to settle for a sample. And I still haven't seen anything I like. I guess it doesn't help that we still don't have bridesmaid dresses either! I can't find anything that will look good on my MoH. She is at least a size 16, so it's really tough to find something that doesn't make her look like she's wearing a tent. The one dress that came in an appropriate color I would have had to order in size 22 to fit and it would still require a lot of alterations.
  18. Which colours are you trying to decide on? Also, I would double check that they ship to Canada. My sister lives in the U.S. so I am having them shipped to her to avoid customs charges. I think there are so many different shades of fuchsia that you will be safe no matter what you choose. Plus, unless things are side by side for a long time, no one will notice a minor variation.
  19. If you have under 40 guests it is $220 for the iPod setup with speakers. There is power provided for the sites, so if you bring your own docking station you don't have to pay any fee.
  20. It was FI's idea to try to make a heart, I actually used one palm tree that I flipped and then rotated them to make a heart. I also used it for our logo. I finally finished them all and although I think they look great, I don't think I would do it again. Based on all the time it took, I think it's worth the money to have them made. I'll post pictures tomorrow.
  21. Teira - we're making our own. I bought a shadow box and I'm going to have FI drill a hole in the top to pour in the sand. We'll afix a photo to the front with photo squares. I wanted to be able to swap out the picture but haven't figured out how we'll do that. I just didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that will probably end up hidden away. But I love the sand ceremony symbolism. On another note, I went to pick up my altered dress tonight. It fits good, but I still don't know if it's THE DRESS. She forgot to move a couple of the rufffles, so I can't take it home until Monday
  22. Lua - That's very strange. I ordered from them twice and received the email confirmation within a few minutes. How did you pay for them? I used paypal and they also send a payment confirmation.
