  1. Laura - that's awesome. Where did you end up purchasing the rest of the flowers? Best of luck this weekend! I hope everything goes fabulous. Try to enjoy yourself and not get too frustrated during the final preps!
  2. You'll love it. If you're looking for a photographer, ours did a fabulous job and made everything very comfortable. They are a husband and wife team, great to work with and reasonably priced. It was a great surprise gift for my hubby.
  3. Lua, that sounds awesome and delicious. Just reading your list made me hungry for lunch. I sent our menu choices and set up requests to for our AHR. Now let's just see what they send back for pricing out my change requests.
  4. Erin that's a great offer. And the karaoke will be a fun option for your guests.
  5. If the letter has to be notarized, you might as well just request the long form. It's only $35. A notarized letter will be at least that much. I must say we both thought it was pretty neat to see our mother's writing back when we were born.
  6. Ladies, so sorry I won't be able to make it tomorrow. It's our two-month anniversary so hubby has a special evening planned. I really hope it's not too long before another get together. I was looking forward to meeting some of you. Maybe next time we can plan a day time event on a weekend?
  7. Wow! So many wonderful announcements. I hope that we are just as lucky. I've always had a feeling that when I wanted to have a baby it would be a struggle. But I guess only time will tell.
  8. We had smores over the weekend, and thinks that's why I got the idea. Lua, it's fine not to have favors. It sounds like you are already having quite the celebration. You don't need more to add to your stress factor.
  9. Laura, that would be awesome if you got to go on an actual honeymoon. I think we are waiting until November to go on ours. What do you ladies think of smores for our AHR favors? I was thinking of making strawberry and chocolate marshmallows and then packaging them with graham crackers, chocolate and directions. I want something affordable and cute, but also different.
  10. Lisa, The album we get from our photographers is 11 x 13. I think I'm going to use the groupon towards parents albums and probably do the 12 x 12. For the rest of our vacation photos, I want to order the coffee table size.
  11. Congratulations Simistar. I think it is a lucky month for conception. Lots of love floating around! Good luck to the rest of us!
  12. Laura - check online for a Service Ontario office that is open Saturdays. It will probably be packed, but it might mean one less day of work missed.
  13. Thanks Sarah! Quick question, where is the best spot to park?
  14. Meggers - I think I'm just going to lie, say I want to assume my common law husband's name. Or I will go to other offices and see if I can slip it by someone. Lesee - That looks great. Can I ask what you had as favors? I was thinking the dessert bar was enough, but now I'm reconsidering.
  15. If you apply online for the long form from Ontario it only takes a few weeks. But you do need all the information like mother and father's names, place of birth, hospital address, doctor's address at time of birth. I couldn't believe how much they asked for. I was born in Manitoba and all they wanted was name, date of birth and town/city. It took about a month to get a response.
  16. It is in Spanish. I could probably translate it myself, but I'm not sure if they would accept just anyone's translation.
  17. Is your marriage certificate in English? I went the other day to change my name and the lady asked for a translation. I was so tired that I just walked out and never asked what an acceptable translation would be. I might just lie and go back and ask for a common law name change.
  18. Laura, I feel your pain. I liked my MIL a whole lot more before we got engaged. I hope you start to get a little more excited. Sounds delicious. I love cupcakes. Lately all I've wanted is various forms of chocolate.
  19. I only said that because there is no way you can have an exact replica. The fabric and details will most likely be different. I tried on over 100 dresses and couldn't find any dress that was what I wanted. That's why my final dress ended up being a combination of two dresses. I was really pleased with the quality, but obviously if I had ordered a dress over $1500 it would have been made differently. It's been said several times, if you want it to be exact, buy a used or sample dress. Just a reminder.
  20. Who wants to make the reservation? And what name shall we use?
  21. Don't try on the original unless you are prepared to be disappointed when you receive the knock off. There will be differences that can make or break the dress. Try on similar fabrics and styles. The first dress is definitely nicer. I would also try to find a close up picture of the bodice so that they have a better idea what to duplicate. And include the measurement of the length of the corset. Like prettypigpig said, you don't want it to be too low.
  22. Laura, your MIL is the reason why I don't share my plans with our moms. No one is ever happy, and will want to change everything, so this way, I get what I want without the fight. Are you doing full size cupcakes? I don't think it's bad to use cake mix, you could always add something to it for extra flavor. For the projector, is there anyway your work might have one you could borrow? I have to pick our enlargements today so that we can have them in time for our AHR. I hate having that pressure.
  23. So let's make it unanimous, I can make it the 22nd. Should we say 7 o'clock for 7 people?
