Lisa, I think it will soon be easier for us to just order a bunch of dresses from Monica Bridal and then sell the ones we don't like. Brandy, It just sucks to not be excited to wear my dress. There was a Pronovias one that I liked so I'm going to try to go to that store over the weekend and see if the sample is available because it did fit. And still, I only liked it.

Tisha, So sorry you are going through this drama now. Do they have to verify the age of the girls? Maybe you could just try to sneak them in as under 12? That seems like crazy pricing $190pp/night!

I've never been completely on board with my dress. I just told myself to stop looking unless I had the time to go shopping. And of course, I never did and now I know it's too late to order from a bridal shop. The sad thing is, when we went to the bridal show I showed FI the dress I originally thought was ideal but my mom hated, and of course he really liked it. And even worse, I didn't even really like that one either! I'm so indecisive. What do you girls think of my dress for TTD? Do you think it will photograph well in the water? Thank goodness that I love my reception dress!

Lisa, I never really loved the dress I ordered, I just didn't want to be stuck without a dress. And now, I'm second guessing it again! I figure I have until mid-February to decide if I need to order another dress. I'm even tempted to try to find a sample dress. I'm also wondering how mine will be in our TTD photos.

Ella, my sister has a bose system and it's great. I asked her to bring it, so fingers crossed. She actually got hers for free from an Amex offer. All she had to do was spend $200 in the first month or so, which is pretty easy to do. I think she got in the last six months? Another thing to consider, is that our resort charges $300 for 4 hours of iPod setup, so at least with buying a system you have something at the end. I wish we had credit card offers like that here in Canada!

Brandy - That is horrible that they messed up! I really hope he replaces them for free. Tenny - It is tough not to over spend on lingerie, maybe you can use your honeymoon lingerie? You can also wear some of his stuff?

Place card holder ideas

I'm using small frames for our guests, and hope to make bride and groom signs for the sweetheart table. -
Is it too late to plan an AHR??
mochamakes3 replied to PurpleUnicorn's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
According to proper etiquette, I believe you are allowed up to 6 months for AHR. Obviously it is very dependent on schedules. We are planning to have one, but don't know where or the style. I wanted casual just to make his family comfortable but have a feeling my mom will be disappointed if it's too informal. My mom didn't want me to have a traditional shower in my hometown because it would look like a gift grab if we had everything there. So, we had one in our town for my friends and the AHR will be more family. One person that declined our DW did note that they would travel to the AHR if we had one. -
Brandy those short dresses you posted are very cute. I'll be so happy to go back to just finding my own clothes and not worry about dressing other people. I haven't been too active on here today because I am swamped with work stuff. ICK! I remember when I used to be able to see my desk!

Erin, I can't believe their mother won't let them go. That's so selfish. I hope you find a way to incorporate them because they obviously deserve a generous person like you in their lives. Jwetli, I always laugh now when people talk about how it's easier to have a DW. It's easier to upset more people with a DW! It sounds like you have things under control with your major items booked and selected. I would ask your resort about reception options, even if it just a guarantee restaurant reservation. I think the iPod station is the best choice, just set up a play list and enjoy! For everyone doing the docking station, are you having a microphone available for important announcements or speeches? I'm not sure what to do about that part.

Supplies sites that ship to Canada
mochamakes3 replied to JBean's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I totally agree that the major problem is the cost of shipping to Canada. I just can't justify spending the same amount on shipping as I have in my shopping cart. So far, for wedding items I have had most things delivered to my sister in the US. There are two Canadian sources that haven't been killer on shipping items, vistaprint.ca, and only because of the free items, and papercircle.ca, because they were affordable, quick and she wrote me a personal thank you. As for afloral.com, I ordered my flowers from them and absolutely love them! I placed two orders and both shipped out the same day. -
They do sell time shares, and make a commission if you attend the sales pitch, but they don't push it on anyone. They ask when you are checking in, that's about all. We're getting married at Moon Palace in a couple months and aren't at all worried about it, but then again we are already members!

Program or No Program?
mochamakes3 replied to jcruzin76's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I wasn't going to do a program, but did plan on doing fans. Now I have combined to two in hopes of pleasing everyone. But most importantly for some color at the ceremony. -
The major problem with not blocking rooms is you won't be entitled to the group benefits, like free private cocktail hour, free private events, room comps. MP will give a room block with an online link for booking at no cost. We are only expecting 25 - 30 people but still are managing to get all the private events for free because we have enough room nights booked through our room block. Otherwise, private events start at $400 for every table of 10!

We are about 10 weeks away from the wedding day and I have to say that it is really happening but I still feel so blessed and can't believe that it is actually happening. From the beginning we have known we wanted to spend forever with each other, and we already live together and own a home together. I can't wait to start calling him my husband and move on to the next part of our lives together. But we have also missed out on the being together for most of our engagement/relationship because of work commitments. So for us, I think it will feel real when we are at home together, going over the final decisions. And even then, probably not completely real until after we are married because it is such a dream come true.

Eyelash Extensions *post ALL info here*
mochamakes3 replied to jajajaja's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Here is my input for lash extensions. I had them done at a nail salon for $30 about 3 weeks ago. I want them for the wedding week because I am too lazy to put on and touch up mascara. I have naturally long, dark lashes that often hit my sunglasses, especially when wearing mascara. I decided to try them in advance for my BD shoot and to check how well they would last. When I arrived for my appointment, she only had medium and long lengths of Ardell individual lashes, so I chose the medium. Which are super long! I sat in a chair and she told me to keep my eyes open. It was tough at first, but I got used to it. She used Lashtite black glue and there was no stinging. The whole process took about 45 minutes. When she was done applying them, she fanned my eyes to help dry the glue. I thought they looked great! The next day, my eyes felt super heavy from the extra weight and I ended up going to bed at 7:30! After that, I got used to the feeling and loved them. I am normally very careful washing around my eyes and didn't use any oil products to remove my eye make up. I normally don't wear make up to work, but felt that I had to even out my look by applying light shadow and blush. Fast forward, three weeks.... none had become loose or fallen out. I tried to use baby oil to remove them. Absolutely no luck! I was finally able to get them off of one eye using make up remover, but can't get any off the other eye! So I trimmed them down and have to go around looking half done all day until I can get to a drug store! I do have to say that I think a lot of my natural lashes came out with removal. So we shall see how long it takes for them to grow back. I think I will do it for the wedding week, but probably try to get the short ones and ask her not to use as much glue. -
sash sharing (freecycle)
mochamakes3 replied to jaynreneewed's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
All you need is to have the fabric cut into lengths that are long enough to go up, over and down. No sewing required. And the resort should set it up for you. A regular width fabric should be sufficient for the front section and another piece for the back. Otherwise, maybe you can find sheer curtains? -
Post pics of your Wedding Cake!
mochamakes3 replied to EricaG's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Look on etsy for gum paste flowers. The craft stores sell gum paste so you can make your own, but you probably don't want to have to learn. -
You could go directly to MP for the room block and just use the TA for flights. I was able to secure a discount code directly from the airline just by calling the group department. The rooms from MP might be more expensive, and I would ensure with your TA that she is offering comparable rooms, not blocked views, etc.

By the way, I must mention once again how amazing my FI is. Since I found small orange frames that could be used a place card holders at Michaels, I bought out the location in Regina and still needed more. So he went on the search in Hamilton, found 6 at one location and then drove across town for another 4 and offered to drive to a third location today (in the snow storm after math) to find more. What a sweetheart! Thank goodness I was able to find 12 here or we would be seriously short!
