  1. Do you all think I made the right choice, I ordered this dress from Babyonline? I decided my first just wasn't what I wanted. I provided all these pictures for detail.
  2. Sorry, I can't remember the designer. I know that she bought it on clearance from Nordstorms last fall.
  3. Lisa, I think the bodice would look good with that skirt. The ruching will just be adjusted to look right. Kitty, maybe you can sell it one here. What does it look like? Erin, you can probably get your bridal salon to package your dress to minimize wrinkles and then bring it as carry on. You'd probably want it steamed at the resort anyways. I'll probably be in a similar situation. Or you could just chance it and hope there's somewhere for them to stash it.
  4. Getting my measurements done was pretty easy, and almost an adventure. I stopped at a place that does alterations and told them I needed measurements for a dress I was having made. The woman working could barely speak English so I had to try to explain several times. She thought I wanted her to make me a dress. Anyways she took the measurements and didn't charge me anything, just a thank you.

  6. With my obvious picture editing skills lacking, I think mine was easier because it was the same dress maker.
  7. Bailey - I know aren't they amazing. Even if you don't know the people they are so gorgeous to watch. Lisa - I think we'll be okay because we are at the end of April. Sunny from Babyonline told me I would have the dress by March 20. That was the deadline I gave her.
  8. Lisa, I think it's very possible to have the chiffon ruffles the way you want. Which skirt do you prefer? I can try to make you a picture if you like. I just used paint for mine. I probably need a picture with more of the bodice showing though. Tris, if I had an unlimited budget I would have hired Studio 67. They do a day of video that you can show at your reception. I went to a wedding that used them and it was amazing! http://studio67.ca
  9. Search for the April 2011 brides in the roll call forum. We're all helpful and supportive. You can use whomever you like for the witnesses, and if no one will arrive in time, usually the resort will provide them. Having a DW can be as much or as little work as you like. We all want to include as much as we can. It doesn't sound like you have anything major to book, just the little extra things.
  10. I tried forever to try to respond to this thread from my blackberry, but it just wouldn't work. Anyways, I pulled the trigger and ordered my third dress to replace my ceremony dress. This time I ordered from babyonline, so I hope they do a good job. I told her I needed it for March 20 and it better arrive before that so I don't stress. I tried to check out the original at the store, but of course it is gone now. So wish me luck that this time I get a dress that I love.
  11. Angela, I booked my hair and make up with palace dollars and was told $87. We have manicure and pedicures included with our membership. Here is the 2011 price lists that the spa sent me. I suggest booking your appointments in advance, the emails are [email protected] or [email protected] Beauty Salon Prices.pdf Beauty Spa Prices.pdf
  12. Laura, I'm so glad to hear that you are having a girls' weekend. I think mine will have to happen after we are married. I/We still have 10 weeks, but I know it will fly by. I just hope everyone finishes booking so I can get final, final numbers. I have to remind FI to check the mail, he never brings the key with him.
  13. Laura - I did look at their website, but never got around to calling. I think we might be able to book at my dad's sailing club if we wait until after the sailing season. But then it doesn't look as nice with the boats out of the water.
  14. Brandy - now you know how some of the other ladies feel when we get chatting! Laura - thanks I will check them out.
  15. Oh Laura, that is frustrating. But I totally understand, the main reason for our AHR is for my parents' friends. Most of our friends will have to travel to attend. I wanted a BBQ but with a guest list of 120 plus, we're going to end up with something more formal. I don't mind, but now FI is starting to worry about how much money it will cost. I paid for the DW and told him he would pay for AHR. I know a lot of people will expect an evening reception, and I refuse to have cash bar. So it looks like a second wedding! And we don't even have a venue. Any suggestions, my family is Ottawa, his is Brockville? I also wanted to wait a little while with hopes of announcing a baby, but one of my really good friends is planning her wedding for October, so I don't want to overlap. And my BM that cancelled is due in September.
  16. For the aloe I might just buy big bottles to pour into small travel sizes. It's probably much cheaper. I did see a good deal on koozies before, but can't remember where. Oh well... keep looking.
  17. Laura that would be amazing! I hope it works out well for you guys. Meggers, I bought them from Michaels so they were on $1. I've decided to try gluing on the stray ones and see what happens. It's my own fault for rushing the process. FI was kind of excited to see it though.
  18. Meggers - Great color choices. I finally decided to pull the trigger on key holders last night so that's one thing for our OOT bags. We decided that aloe is a good option, so I need to source some small bottles. I am once again considering koozies since we decided that mugs are too big and heavy for our luggage. Bryanandchar - I forgot to mention good luck with FI's new job. It's tough to be apart, but you certainly appreciate the time you have together. I totally understand what it's like because FI and I both have jobs that require long term travel. I've only been at home for 6 weeks since the beginning of September.
  19. 3 days before we get married we will be celebrating 3 years of meeting and becoming inseparable. Is there anything you absolutely had to have for your wedding? Or refused to have anywhere near your wedding?
  20. bryanandchar - We set up a registry at the bay and sears. I prefer the stuff at the bay, but in FI's home town they only have sears. Lots of people, myself included, don't like to give cash or have no idea what to give as a gift. It's also a great time to start collecting fine china or crystal. You probably won't spend the money on something nice for yourselves, with a registry you'll get something you really want. Of course, now that I've had my bridal shower I have to restock the Sears registry because most people bought off that. A great thing about The Bay registry, they give you a card that entitles you to an additional 10% off anything on your registry. So if there's a great sale on something, it's even a little better.
  21. Just found these for $1.10 each and it looks like they hold a little more.
  22. First of all, what is up with the advil ad that turns the screen black, I keep thinking my laptop is crashing! Bailey, at the very least, they should drop the weight restrictions.
  23. I'm trying to get FI used to the fact that I would like to start trying a few months after we're married. I figure it probably won't happen for at least a few more months after that. But I will be 33 this year, and think it will be healthier to get started soon if we want to try for 2. I have hypothyroid, and I've heard that it can make conceiving difficult.
  24. Tigerlily, even though I had both dresses custom made, I did the measurements for the first one on my own and had to pay almost as much for alterations. Thankfully, the second one fit perfect with professional measurements. So PLEASE GET PROFESSIONAL MEASUREMENTS! My numbers weren't off by more than an inch, but that makes a huge difference.
