  1. Nice to hear what you thought of him. He's one of the most affordable options I've seen! And that is great, since everything else seems to cost more and more than I had thought it would!!
  2. Hi Amie, I'm not an expert by any means, but I don't think you would want to have a white gold ring by a platinum ring... As another option, you might want to see about getting a palladium ring. It's in the same family of metals as platinum, so it should have a lot of the same shine, look, and characteristics. It's also a true white metal, whereas white gold is a mix which will give it a yellowish tint, which may contrast being right next to your platinum e-ring. Another option would be to get a stone other than a diamond if that doesn't matter too much to you. There are white sapphires or of course cubic zirconia, either of which would look good I think.. You might try going into a store and putting your ring up against other types of metals (14k/18k white gold, etc) to see if you notice a difference and decide if it would bother you if there was one. Whatever you go with, I'm sure it'll be beautiful! Good luck!
  3. Glad to hear that. He's one of the few I'm considering. Thanks!!!
  4. Thanks for the FB add! I'll take a look at the pictures after work tonight. Appreciate it!!
  5. Oh, that's the worst.. I mean really -- you barely know them!!!!
  6. Ugh, how frustrating!!! People can be so rude!!!! Like they are entitled to an invite for one reason or another. I'm not even to that point yet and find myself trying to explain to others about how we plan on inviting a very limited number of people (family and bridal party only). Even at that, we should have about 40 people. We mainly limited the list that way so we could avoid these questions -- like how do you really invite one friend and not another even though they are friends, too? Awkward situation.. Maybe you can just tell them that due to the resort limitations you had to keep the guest list to a certain number??? Good luck!!
  7. Okay, so I've been struggling with this for a while, and figured I might as well ask you ladies! Did you look at both the Sapphire and the Jade? If so, what made you choose one over the other? I like the Sapphire's Mexican-look and all, but I'm surprised by the differences in prices between the resorts (e.g. ceremony music at Jade being about half the price of ceremony music at Sapphire; but tiki torches at Jade are 3 times the price as they are at Sapphire.. things like that). I think both resorts would be fantastic, but I'm the kind of person who wants to know all the info before making decisions, and right now I'm stuck.. Help!
  8. Just sent you a FB Friend request, too. Thanks for offering to share your pictures!
  9. I haven't entirely decided, but I know we will be paying at least a portion of it. I agree with others -- figure they are spending all this money to come celebrate with us, it's the least I can do to.
  10. That's a really good suggestion. I hadn't thought about doing it afterwards, but I like your point about the emotions and meaning of the ceremony being different if already married. Thanks!
  11. Does anyone know who the resort photographer is for the Sapphire?
  12. I wore some SPANX for my sister's wedding this summer that might be along the lines of what you're looking for.. We got them through Nordstrom, pretty sure they were the 'higher power' ones -- it's a one piece body slimmer from thighs up to just below bust. I just checked their website and they have lots of options. Just search by 'SPANX'.. Hopefully you find something that works well!!
  13. Oh, I would also suggest you get an idea of what it might cost for your guests if you plan on having any. That was a factor for us -- we wanted it to be in an affordable yet nice resort since it is asking a lot out of our family and friends to spend the money to travel and celebrate with us!
  14. Congrats and welcome to the forum!!! I'm looking into the NOW resorts right now (Sapphire or Jade), so if you have questions I might be able to help. I like that they try to keep it to 1 wedding per day if possible (and no more than 2 max) as they want to cater to the couple as much as possible. There are forum threads for each of the three you have mentioned. I would say do some research, decide what you want out of a DW and prioritize that list, set a rough BUDGET!, and look at what the wedding packages include to see if they fit that need. There are lots and lots of other resorts out there, too, in case those three don't work for you. Good luck!! It's tough picking a location.. I'm still stuck on that decision!!!
  15. Your WC will be the ultimate answer on that, but I wouldn't stress too much.. having been around a lot of conferences, they typically call the conference rooms "Salon x", so I would bet your back up is still in the ballroom. Hopefully at least -- that would be weird in a hair salon!
  16. Nevermind, you can ignore my message above! Just heard back from the WC there and she sent the book.
  17. Does anyone have the wedding book for Sapphire? I have the one for Jade , and although I'm sure a lot of the info is the same, it'd be nice to look at the ceremony and reception options to compare. Let me know and I'll send you my email, thanks!
  18. Are most of you ladies ordering flowers for yourself as well as bridesmaids? I've wondered about going with the bride's bouquet with the resort's package and order real touch just for BM, but then who knows how closely they may match to the bridesmaids?? If you order all of them, what do you do with the one from the resort? Any clever ways to use it since I'll already be paying for it?
  19. Congrats and welcome!! I've been having the same debate, but think I have decided on Mexico. Now if I could just pick a resort!! I have it narrowed down to a few, so we'll see..
  20. Question for Tammy or anyone else who heard.. I was looking through my notes and missed the part where Daniela said who the resort photographer was. Anyone know? thanks!
  21. Isn't that the truth -- seems anything that has "bride" or "wedding" in the name is at least twice the price!! Â Great thread, definitely trying to stay on a budget, but it's so hard to do that with all the great ideas and pictures on here
