  1. After a great deal of research and trying out a bunch of different docks for quality and volume (plugged in and running off battery) I bought the Sony RDP-XF100iP new for the purpose of using it at my reception. The WC ended up allowing us to use their sound system, so we didn't use it, but I have all the original packaging, remote, adapters, charger, etc. and am selling it for $125 plus shipping, it retails on Amazon for $200. I am also selling my gently used white single layer fingertip veil. It is a simple veil with edge detail that went very well with my dress. The entire edge is lined with sequins and beads. I am selling it for $40 plus shipping. PM if interested in either item.

  4. Kitty, we changed resorts for our "honeymoon" due to some of DH's family staying longer than we would have liked and we regretted it terribly. Part of the problem was that Excellence was soooo amazing to us (but of course you already know how awesome Excellence is) and the Majestic Elegance was absolutely terrible. They never got the memo that is was our honeymoon and they made us feel like we were a burden to them from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. They even tried to downgrade us since they had overbooked! I'm not sure whether we got such amazing service at Excellence because it's always that amazing or because we had our wedding there and had booked a bunch of rooms. Either way, we shouldn't have left. To be honest though, the packing and unpacking wasn't such a big deal (although we had an extra round of it because we switched rooms at the second resort after the first night--another whole story, you can read the review on the Majestic Elegance review here), the main issue was how much worse the resort was. It probably won't totally feel like a honeymoon if you have that many people staying with you because you'll still see them around and probably have meals with them, but if they're close friends and perhaps you don't get to see them that often, you may really cherish that time with them because up until the wedding there was so much to take care of (meeting people for arrivals almost every day), wedding planning meeting and rehearsal with the coordinator, TTD the day after, etc.) Just weigh your options and make sure you stay at an as nice, if not nicer, resort if you change. And enjoy every moment, it goes by WAY too fast!!
  5. I have 19 royal blue satin chair sashes and 20 turquoise satin sashes available. I used both together on the chairs and in different places during the ceremony and reception. PM me if interested. I am selling them for .50 each, plus shipping.
  6. We did an iPod playlist (one list for fast songs, one list for slow songs, and one list for "special" songs, ie first dance, mom/son, father/daughter, cake cutting) and the coordinator ended up setting up the speaker for us even though we had brought our own dock. The resort went above and beyond our expectations, throwing in extras everywhere (not sure if that should be expected, but they were amazing surprises). I think our dock would have worked out well, but it was nice not to have to worry about the volume level. We didn't do much dancing, but with such a small group, it didn't matter and everyone had a wonderful time.
  7. All I have to say was that booking my wedding at Excellence was the BEST decision I made! Everything was more perfect than I could have imagined. All of my guests thanked me for choosing such a wonderful resort. From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed we felt like royalty. The only mistake we made was changing resorts for our honeymoon, everyday at Majestic Elegance we wished that we never left Excellence. Do not hesitate to book anything at Excellence, everything there is truly EXCELLENTE!!!
  8. Hey ladies! Cannot tell you how amazing everything was at Excellence, Punta Cana. The staff exceeded our expectations in every way. It could not have been more perfect. Have a lot to catch up on, but wanted to share my favorite pic thus far!
  9. Hello lovely April ladies! Work was killer these last two weeks, not to mention working out almost every day. But we're finally on our way to the DR. We left LA on a red-eye last night, now we're just waiting for our connection. FI was awesome getting the guy at the gate to let us pre-board so I could my dress had it's own bin. Ladies who have yet to leave, my advise is to just keep an up to date list of everything to be done, even the minute details. It really helped keep me on track (and from sleeping) but I got it all done. FI finally made our cake topper yesterday while I was at work and it came out even better than I imagined. I cannot wait to marry him! We did our legal day last week, but we have been trying to make it not mean anything so next Monday is as special as possible. I love all the pics of the returning brides. I hope to share pics that are even half as good when I return. It's all so surreal right now. Congrats to all the new Mrs. and good luck to the small group of late April brides. See you on the other side of Mrs.
  10. Hey Diva (and other recent Excellence brides) just getting my final arrangements in order as I leave in less than a week (eek!). How much did you (or would you recommend bringing) to tip the make-up and hair ladies at the spa and the WC at the resort? We're bringing tip money for everyday things, but I just want to make sure I have enough to take care of those who are taking care of me on my special day. I am more excited than you can imagine! Thanks for any input.
  11. Hey ladies, sorry for being so MIA lately. I've just been so busy with work and trying to get all the last minute things done before leaving. I seem to only have time to read what everyone has written, but chiming in has proven slightly more difficult. Brandy, WELCOME BACK! I read your review and it sounds like everything was AMAZING! Tenny, WELCOME BACK TOO! Mocha, so sorry about your dress issues, I can't even imagine, but like everyone has already said, you're going to look beautiful and amazing and as soon as you put it on, all these stresses should just melt away and you will be able to enjoy your day. I've been working out like crazy this last week. I joined a gym on last Sunday and I've gone every day, mostly for bootcamp classes that have been kicking my a$$! I figured it will be best to arrive in Punta Cana with no regrets. As far as what we have left, still have to finish the ceremony script (for some reason, I keep having to make changes), finish my personal vows, put together our cake topper, create a CD for our ceremony music, make a list of all the other music for FI to put onto his iPod for our reception, buy a camcorder, some final shopping, and PACK! Our legal day is this Thursday and then it's crunch time before leaving the following Wednesday. Finally worked out the dog situation, although I'm not too happy about having to board her, at least she'll be with the in-law's dog and they get along. Had to get her up to date on her vaccinations this week too. I think all the stress leading up to a vacation makes the vacation so much more needed!
  12. Have you tried working out in the am? I know it's difficult to get up early, but you'll enjoy your day more if you're not dreading going home and having to work out. Since you'll have just woken up, you won't have much time to psych yourself out of it. Just an idea, good luck!
  13. So, I got my Mixbook in the mail today and I have to say that I am a little disappointed. The black printing on the front and back cover has some fairly noticeable lines through it, like the printer was running low on black ink when it was made. Also, all of the pages look like they were cut off a little bit on the top, but the bottom looks exactly like it did on the sample online. Wouldn't be too bit a deal, but on one page I had writing that is now partially cutoff, and that looks pretty bad. Also, they way you have to do at least 20 pages, but with 20 there is a blank one, so you have to do 21 and pay extra was a little annoying, and then the last page they keep blank to put their logo on it. I'm not sure I remember seeing anything about that on the website. Just thought I'd share my opinion. I'm probably using Shutterfly for my BD book, just waiting for the photographer to send me my proofs. I'll let you know my thoughts on the quality of that when I receive it (although I'm doing a softcover for that one)
  14. Meggers, I know that must be extremely difficult for you, especially at this time. Sending good thoughts your way. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery and surprises everyone.
