Any brides from the UK
kiwimel replied to char79uk's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Oooh - Im just so excited for you girls! I havent anything exciting to add but just wanted to say that! Oh and also, I have been to Cancun for the last 3 years on the spin and EVERYWHERE takes US dollars. Mexicans look generally disappointed if you give them paseos as the US exchange is better for them. Especially in taxi's and for tips too. Hope that is some help? Starting to panic that I havent done enough! xxxx -

Hi girls, Thank you so so much for all your lovely concern. Thankfully I am North Island based and so are my family but we had a few friends and family friends who were based down in Christchurch so it was a bit hairy for a while. Everyone has been accounted for but I am disappointed in the NZ community over here - it seems there has been no appeal or fundraising events organised officially! So hard to try to arrange something but I have organized a bake sale on Wednesday with the funds going direct to the Red Cross and hopefully my small contribution should be able to help someone in need. Char - your ideas for the cake and room look magnificent! I think you will be very pleased with how that all turns out. Michelle - the hair trials came out amazing! Did you say you did Scarletts yourself? I am a qualified hairdresser and you would give me a run for my money! Nicyx - cheer up Charlie! I bet you will have a fabulous time and will realise it isnt all worth the worry! I just knoe it will all come out in the wash. Roo - so so sorry to hear about your mum. I hope she feels better real soon. Lynsey - your brochures are AWESOME! I desperately desperately want to create something like that too and would love some advice/assistance. I just wouldnt know where to start with that information? Invites should arrive this week! Will attempt to post a pic when they get here. V excited! I have been really good with the gym this week but appalling with my eating. I wouldnt be surprised at all if my weight is up. Back to the healthy diet this week and setting myself a challenge for gym and diet for the entirety of March. Anyone else feeling super motivated and want to join in? Let me know as I could do with the support! WOOP WOOP - not long to go now chicas! Im starting to get right hyped up for those of you getting married in the next 3 months or so! Mel xxx -

Hi girls, Hope you are all well? I have been off work/computer for the last 2 days as I havent been well. I havent been sleeping - anxiety etc Especially with everything that has been happening in Christchurch. My invites are being printed as we speak! Im very excited but they are super expensive! Im not really sure how that happened! Anyway, they're being printed now so hey ho. Just cant wait to send them out. We have included a question on the RSVP about a favourite song to get you on the dance floor so I cant wait to see the responses. Sounds like everyones wedding dress fittings went really really well! So happy for you girls. Nicyx - it must be so exciting for you now! It feels like yesterday not October last year when I first came on here and you were making barefoot sandals and there was that other lovely lady who got married in Cyprus with her kids and his kids??? I cant remember her name but she was a sweet little thing. Anyway - you only have 9 weeks to go before you fly out. So so so exciting! Charmaine - great news on the church! Sounds like everything is coming together nicely and so early too - you will be well prepared. I feel so sorry for you having the MIL over for 2 whole weeks! Samcalv1 - your dress is BEAUTIFUL! I just love it. I am sure you will look amazing in it! I'm not much if a tiara/veil kind of girl so I have some beautiful art deco/1930's vintage drop earrings. My hair is long, dark and pain-in-the-arse curly. Do you think it would be too much to add a flower in there? I have to wear my hair up because of the back on my dress so I thought I might try a flower. Have you seen any nice ones around? Thanks Mel xxx -

Good morning girlies! How was your weekend? OOOOOh Michelle you will be trying on your dress this very second! Im so excited for you! Also - I just wanted to chip in about getting asked WHY mexico? And about family being mad as we have had exactly the same problems with Chris' family. All my friends and fmaily from NZ have been fine and very excited about going on holiday, keeping it small and intimate, and getting married abroad. Chris family on the other hand, have been horrendous - threatening not to come, throwing temper tantrums and basically just generally giving me so much grief that I rang Gretna Green registry office one day to see how quickly we could get married! I just wanted it over and done with! They have all calme ddown a bit now and are all looking forward to the holidayy but trying to explain that if we were doing things "traditionally" they would all be going to New Zealand was really hard! They just cant seem to understand why I wouldnt want to get married here? Is it just me or is it really not that difficult? I tried to compromise by going half way ..... ish. Anyways, Im just so excited - I was heading down the A3 on the bus on Friday night after work DREAMING of salty frozen Margaritas. I didnt realise a few of you hadnt been to Mexico before? This will be my 3rd trip so i am MORE then happy to help with any questions you might have re the airport, area, sightseeing (I've done most things down there), food, booze, resorts etc. I havent been to MP before where we are getting married but I have a rough idea what most of the resorts are like Ask away! Have any of you booked your music for the evening? I am in th process of negotiating with a DJ at present but Chris and I are so so so fussy about music we want to do our own. All we need is the speakers/ipod plug/microphone and some lights. Is it rude to ask what you guys have been quoted for this? I want to get a round about idea of what to tell him my budget is as they have quoted us $980 for it which seems steep seeing as there is no actual DJ! How exciting about your AHR Nicy! What a fab thing to come home too! Good luck with the dresses girls! Mel xxx -

Congratulations on your engagement MrsSoonToBeG. Dont panic - you will find everything you need to know about weddings on this very sight. I am also an expat (Kiwi living in London) so I understand how difficult it is sometimes. I am desperate to find one of these holy grail hobby craft shops these girls always mention! The lovely ladies on here will give you so much help and you'll pick up loads of cracking ideas. Re: Your right girlies - I do love it so Im just gonna wait until I have my next dress fitting. Too many other things to worry about now - like trying to find a backless bustier for these DD bazookas! Hope you all have a fandabydozi time at your fittings! I bet you must all be so so xcited! xxxx -

Hi Girls! How are you all? I havent been on in so long - it has taken me 4 days of paid work time to catch up with what has been happening! I cant believe some of you girls are married already and how close some of you are to becoming Mrs'! Especially you Nicy - your big day is zoooming! Im so so excited for you! It was so funny - I was rading all the posts dating back from December (!!) and I got to the bit where you mentioned your Cabbage Soup diet and I had to wait a bout 6 pages to find out how you had got on! Well done you - 7 lbs is wicked. An update on me: Well I hadnt really done much up until Christmas and now I am in full planning mode. The dress is paid for. I absolutely love it BUT I have been proper panicking for the last few weeks. Something in is really worried that it just isnt beachy enough. I feel so comfortable in it but once you start looking at accessories (Hair flowers, bouquets) and everyone elses (Floaty bridesmaid dresses) and I feel like maybe mine is a bit "English Church Wedding). Its so pretty and I love love love the back but Im nervous. I will be interested to hear your thoughts *waits with baited breath* http://www.onewed.com/wedding-dresses/designer/paloma-blanca/dress/strapless/a-line/floor-length/4065/#photo_id=377 I even emailed the lady at the wedding shop telling her I was too worried it was too much and I would be too hot! She hasnt emailed me back yet ........ Chris' shirt has been ordered and recieved. We have the same shirt for him and the 3 attendants. He originally wanted to wear a fred perry polo top but I had to put my foot down a little. I mean, I know its both of our day and all but come on! I would have had to wear a tennis dress with it! http://www.my-wardrobe.com/ps-paul-smith/white-embroidered-placket-dress-shirt-460780 We dont know what to wear on the bottom half regarding trousers and footwear yet so we are just having a bit of a think about it and hoping we will spot something soon that gives us inspiration. All I know is he wants dark coloured trousers and not linen or beige. talk about against the grain my DH! LOL I brought one of those dress boxes the other day! We are flying with BA and I just didnt want to take a risk so I brought one. I brought the large and they told me it would take 10 days but it arrived in 3! They arent cheap (Just under £50 by the time you pay for postage - an empty box in a box!!!!!) but they are acid free and so you can actually store your dress in it forever if you so wish. http://www.dressinabox.co.uk/ I am in thr process of finalising the designs on the invites and ordered some beautiful fans as part of the favours. They arrived on Monday and I am really pleased - great price and they smell DIVINE! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/25-NEW-Sweet-scented-Sandalwood-fans-wedding-favours-/180364991204?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Celebrations_Occasions_ET&hash=item29fe975ae4 Anyway, I'll stop waffling for now! Im sure your bored of it all already Is anyone doing/done a whiteboard guest book? I am thinking of doing this but wanted to pick someones brains firts. Take care and cant wait to catch up again! Hi girls - I just wanted to drop a super quick message as loads of people are getting married around the same time as us and are asking about photographers. We get married on Saturday 6th August and our photographers are ........La Luna. Part of the Del Sol group. I have been emailing with Matt Adcock and the lovely Melissa for months now and I can definitely confirm they ARE allowed to shoot there. I just dont understand why the Moon Palace co-ordinators have not had this fed down to them? So many girls like me panicking about the quality of their pictures. I had an email from the chief wedding lady at Palace Resorts confirming that it was fine to use them. And Matt has been totally on the ball with it all - chasing them up when and where neccessary. Anyway enough ranting! I actually wanted to recomend them to you all. I just thought, there service has been superb and people dont realise you can book them. Cant wait to get out there and put faces to names now!

Photography options at Moon Palace
kiwimel replied to cgeris's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
Hi ya, Just thought I would chime in here as I have bene working with the team at La Luna and I have to say - the service just doesnt get any better then them. It is the best I have ever had! They are effecient and friendly whilst still remaining completely professional. They definitely ARE allowed to shoot on Moon Palace grounds because when I moaned about it to Matt Adcock (Owner/Operator) he was straight away on to the big head honcho and had the situation rectified immediately. I even had an email in response confirming it from the lady herslef. You do have to get a pass but dinner and a beer is the least I feel I can do for these people. They have been fantastic and if the photos for us turn out as great as the service has already been - then we are in for some photos to last forever! Mel -
Anyone have their entire playlist?

Oh yes just what I was looking for. Well done girlies! Will definitely be keeping an eye on this one -
Oops - I hadnt finished - I was also interested in doing a catamaran trip from MP - anyone else looking at doing this? I have so far looked at Bleu magic which seems to be the best one as you get to go up to Tulum and have a look through the ruins there aswell. You can hre the entire boat for $2550 but that doesnt include much. I cant seem to post a link to their website though? My parents did it whilst there on their last Mexican adventure and they said it was the highlight of their trip. Hope this helps!

Hi girls - so pleased someone was asking questions about the group booking thingy! I have about 30 guests in total coming from the UK with us. Alll staying for around about 14 nights per couple. I would be absolutely gutted and would cancel the venue if they wouldnt throw those sorts of things in for us simply because we went through a TA. I would really love to hear if anyone else has managed to get around this.

Geez - it was a bit topsy turvey that list hey? Some were lovely and somewhere a bit daunting! LOL. I will keep my eyes peeled to see if there are any I can add too.

Hi Girls, How you been? I havent been on for ages as the wedding plans went a bit out the window for a while. Feels like I have no idea what to do until next year when I can really start going! We've had the full confirmation through and so far we currently have 19 adults and 3 kids coming with us. I think there are about 7 more adults DEFINITELY coming but in the process of booking up. I'm having a dilema at the moment as I cant decide whether to have our ceremony on the beach or in the gazebo thingy? Ideally we always wanted it on the beach but I cant get the ceremony any later then 3pm - and in August that is HOT HOT HOT! Are you all getting married on the actual beach? So pleased to be getting back in the swing of things! Take care and good luck on all the weigh in's this week girls! I'm hoping for a little loss myself! Mel xxx -
