  1. I think we will just wait on the judge, as nerve-wracking as it is. Even though Pastor York would be nice and give a more traditional ceremony, I still want our actual marriage to be in front of our friends and family in the Dominican and so does my fiance. I know the civil ceremony is not going to be as traditional (which is a negative), but I think it would be a fair trade-off. I have also heard that after the judge does the civil ceremony, you can do the symbolic ceremony too. Thank you for the information though.
  2. I just started P90X today. I did it for a couple of weeks in June, but stopped because of graduation/new job. I'm now determined to finish the 90 days before I go on vacation in December. I mostly just need to keep motivated to keep it up. Hopefully this forum will help me.
  3. I love the pink shoes! Those are super cute! You did a great job embellishing them, FutureMrsTO!! There is no way I could wear heels for an extended amount of time though. I'm such a wimp!
  4. I sent my info and she said the date was available at the resort and that she would ask for my deposit when she heard back from the judge. It's only been about a week since I heard that from her. Hopefully I will hear something soon. Thanks!!
  5. For those of you who are getting married or have gotten married at Dreams Palm Beach, how long did it take the wedding coordinator there to get back to you after you sent in your information to secure your date? Thank you.

    Help me!

I just sent off paperwork to the resort requesting December 2, 2011. We'll definitely have to keep in touch throughout the planning process, jaimeLe318. I need all the help I can get! It's just such a relief to have the place chosen and not to have to worry about it anymore. I was driving myself crazy looking at different resorts and comparing them for the longest time!

    Help me!

I think we've decided to go with Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It has everything we are looking for. Antigua is beautiful, but I've been there before and we wanted to go somewhere neither of us has been before.

    Help me!

I'm so excited because my FI and I finally decided on a resort for our wedding, Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana! I feel as though a great big weight has been lifted off of my shoulders! We have also chosen Secrets Sanctuary Cap Cana for our honeymoon. I've heard so many good things about both of these places.
  9. Hello everyone! I met with my travel agent yesterday and she told me about a great deal that Delta Vacation has with destination weddings. When you purchase your destination wedding from them, they offer discounts for your guests if they book with Delta as well. And, for every flight and hotel package that is purchased, you get a rebate as well up to the cost of your wedding. I'm not sure if anyone has already seen this or used it, but I thought I would pass it on since it is an awesome deal! 10. These are my shoes. I will probably go barefoot for the wedding and wear these for the reception. *Pay no attention to my ugly feet and undone pedicure.* Â Â
  11. I think that is their "generic" email they send to all people inquiring about marriage at their resort. I received the exact same email along with some attachments. My email said that my tentative date was open, first come first serve in the same exact spot in the email that yours says "Unfortunately we do not have those days available" I'd say that your dates you requested aren't available. Good luck!!
  12. She could do a reading...and help with us getting ready. I think that would be nice. I didn't mean to sound so crass about not wanting to have her in the wedding. It's just that my FI has 3 younger sisters also and I wouldn't want them to feel left out either. I love my sister, she's just at that age where she's a little hard to get along with. Thank you for the suggestion. I really appreciate it.
  13. I just went back home (4 hours away from where I currently live) this weekend to see my mom and dad and buy my wedding dress. It was the first time I had seen my dad since I got engaged (he and my mother are divorced and he is remarried). Anyway, I told him, my stepmom and my half-sister about the wedding and wanting to do a destination wedding. We talked about who my bridesmaids were, colors, etc...general wedding stuff. They didn't really seem all that interested, which is what I expected (my father and I aren't that close). Well, today I get a voicemail from my dad after I had been to the dress shop asking me to include my 11-year-old half-sister in the wedding..."it would really mean a lot to her". I have already picked out my bridesmaids...and asked them...and there are 5 of them. That, to me, is a pretty big wedding party in itself with our 5 groomsmen. I guess I could make her a junior bridesmaid, but it's not what I want and I would only be doing it as a favor to my dad. I really don't know what to do. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Help me!

Changing the date is not really an option. My FI works out of town the majority of the summer and cannot get off work for an extended amount of time except for December and January. December 2, our weddig date is before peak time starts for the Caribbean, so it shouldn't be much more expensive. I just have expensive taste i guess.

    Help me!

Well, I finally got my FI to agree on either the Dominican Republic or Aruba. We're looking at Dreams Punta Cana and Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino. I really like them both. I'm just waiting on prices from our TA for Renaissance, which is where he wants to go. Our TA said Aruba is usually way more expensive, but I guess we'll see when she gets back to us. Wish me luck!

Do you mind if I ask what resorts you went to? Thanks!

    Help me!

I actually talked to a travel agent today and she has me thinking about the Dominican Republic again. I had originally decided on that in the first place, but changed my mind when I started listening to other people. I like the Dreams resorts, but I am not sure which one I like the best. Dreams Punta Cana has a huge pool, but I've read that it's a little run down. I haven't read a lot about Dreams Palm Beach or Dreams La Romana. Anyone have any idea which one would be better? As far as price, I think people who originally wanted to stay 7 days are going to have to go down to 5 days to fit their budget. Â Thank you for your posts.

    Help me!

I have been trying to pick a destination for about a month and a half now and my selections are all over the place. Our tentative wedding date is December 2, 2011. I'm trying to make it affordable for my guests, but exactly what I want in a destination wedding, which is turning out to be impossible! Ideally, I don't want my guests to have to spend more than $1500 per person travel and accommodations for 5-7 days, less than that if possible. We're going to have between 30 to 40 guests. I have been looking at Costa Rica, The Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, St. Lucia, USVI, and British Virgin Islands. It would be so much easier if i had Mexico in the running too, but my fiance is dead-set against Mexico. I have looked and looked on this website for solutions, but haven't come across any so far. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would really appreciate it. I'm driving myself crazy looking at this stuff, magazines upon magazines, hours and hours on the Internet. ...and a fiance who really doesn't want much to do with the planning. It's like pulling teeth to get him to talk about the destination. Thank you :-) Â jen
  19. Do you have any idea where you are looking to get married at? I'm having the hardest time deciding on a place for my December 2011 wedding. I am looking hard at Costa Rica. Any suggestions? Thank you :-)
  20. Well, after a couple of weeks of research and getting a quote for Paradisus Palma Real, I have completely decided against that resort and pretty much the Dominican Republic in general. Now I'm thinking about Costa Rica or somewhere else in the Caribbean. Anyone have any suggestions?
  21. Thanks everyone! They are both Galina dresses from David's Bridal.
  22. Your wedding was absolutely breathtaking! It was so simple, yet so elegant...everything a wedding should be. You are a very beautiful bride! Congrats!
  23. Ok, here they are...Here's hoping my links work and the pics will show up on the post. The wedding dress: http://i870.photobucket.com/albums/ab270/jnleah/Wedding%20Stuff/TheDress.jpg The reception dress: http://i870.photobucket.com/albums/ab270/jnleah/Wedding%20Stuff/receptiondress.jpg
