  1. Chicken, vegetables, and a sweet potato...sounds like you're doing it already! You didn't lose any weight??? Be careful of your extras...butter, oil, sauce...anything with fat or sugar....although some healthy fat is okay...like from olive oil or almonds. I know the chicken thing gets boring...did that for a little bit and could not even look at chicken. I like the variety I have right now. Sample meal plan might be: Breakfast: 4 egg whites and oatmeal (plain oats with a few blueberries or cinnamon), or two boiled eggs and some Kashi Go Lean cereal (dry or with skim or almond milk) Snack: 20 almonds, grapes Lunch: Turkey on whole wheat w/ mustard or whole wheat pasta with low cal spaghetti sauce and ground turkey or spinach salad with chicken, egg whites, tomatoes, balsamic vinaigrette dressing Snack: fat free cottage cheese and pineapple (fresh) or string cheese and apple Dinner: Chicken or tilapia with fresh green beans or broccoli, brown rice or sweet potato or I just eat something similar to lunch Before bed: Protein shake or berries and greek yogurt ***Eat every 2-3 hours I have been working out some too, but I've heard the diet is like 80% (everybody has their own opinion of the percentage). When I first started, I wasn't losing much weight, but I started eating more and it just fell off...maybe you're not eating enough??? or often enough??? Just remember you don't have to be in the kitchen all the time to get the results...the meals I create are super quick...I pack my cooler every day for work.
  2. Congratulations and welcome! You'll find so much information on here if you just do a search. If you haven't booked yet, the best thing you can do for yourself is go through a TA. They will act as your wedding planner and work things out with the Sandals people for you. I have a great one if you need her info...PM me.
  3. The one I have is The Eat Clean Diet, by Tosca Reno. I believe she has come out with an updated version, but it should be the same principle. You can also get The Eat Clean Diet Cookbook (which has an updated version as well). It is good to read the book, because you learn a lot about nutrition and how your body burns calories, but the basic principle is simple...eat clean. That means little to no processed food (no fast food!). This doesn't mean organic, just mostly lean protein, and fruits and vegetables (complex carbs). For larger meals, your plate should be 1/4 protein, 1/4 carbs (like brown rice), and 1/2 clean vegetables (no heavy oils or butter). I try to eat meals that just combine lean protein and a complex carb...for example: egg whites and oatmeal, fat free cottage cheese and fruit, chicken and spinach salad with some fruit, yogurt/fruit/nuts. You'll get the hang of it fast. The goals is to eat around 5-6 meals like this per day...around 200-300 calories. It is a lot of food, and you won't be starving and craving like normal with the three meals per day. Oh, and you need to drink a LOT of water...a lot of times a craving for food is really just our body telling us it's dehydrated. I've been working out a bit too...30 minutes on the elliptical each morning. I'm going to incorporate some weight training next week...maybe start some videos. I love the Jillian Michaels videos, because they're so quick and I don't get bored. It feels so good to be 10 pounds lighter, and I'm excited to lose a lot more. It was really hard to get started, but two weeks in and I'm in the zone. My fiance got Zaxby's yesterday and it didn't even bother me...I just fixed some cottage cheese and fruit and thought about me in my wedding dress. Totally worth it:)
  4. This is the introduction on our traveler's joy website. I know you're probably referring to standard registries, but I think the second paragraph still applies. On my wedding website, I just listed the registries...I did not say anything about not wanting gifts from people traveling with us. I have, however, said that to several guests and am having my mom pass along the info. Hope it helps! Family and Friends, Welcome to our dream honeymoon registry! We are going to be traveling to St. Lucia for our wedding, and then we will spend a few days of rest and relaxation as husband and wife. While on our trip, we are hoping to check some things off our life list, including a canopy adventure through the rainforest, riding horses on the beach, and spending the night on the famous Pitons on the southern end of the island. If you are traveling with us for our "weddingmoon," your presence is the absolute best gift we could ever ask for. Some of our friends are unable to go and have asked how they could help, so we've created this page to give ideas on ways we would love to enhance the most important trip of our lives. We are grateful to be surrounded by such wonderful people, and we cannot wait to celebrate with you all.
  5. They both look awesome! Maybe you just second-guess yourself, like me....still no dress. And, in my opinion, comfort is a HUGE factor on my wedding day.
  6. I've gone back and forth on this, as my fiance thinks it's a little tacky to make a cash registry...I figure we're being different by doing the destination wedding, so we might as well forget about tradition! Last night, I completed registries for BBB, Pottery Barn, and Traveler's Joy. Unlike so many other couples on here, we actually DO need a lot of the traditional gifts and are having at least 4 showers. I figure this will be good for people who are out of town or cannot come to showers. And I love that people can use a credit card! Does anyone think it's tacky to do the travel registry on top of the other two, more traditional???
  7. I didn't really feel like I needed to pick colors, since I won't be having a bridal party. However, now I'm going to try and incorporate some ocean blue and coral details...pretty combination and perfect for the beach. I think it depends on where you are getting married, too. Some places, like Sandals, already have packages with colors.
  8. Have you heard of ruelala.com? They have amazing "boutique" sales by lots of designers. Right now, they have Betsey Johnson, and a month or so ago they had Nicole Miller dresses for cheap!...lots of short white dresses. You get an email announcing the boutiques and when they will open. They also have handbags, shoes, and resorts on sale! It is invite only, so PM me your email address if you want me to send you an invitation! A friend sent me an invitation back in the summer and I have been hooked. Happy shopping
  9. Okay, so maybe this picture won't help...lol I'll try to find a bigger one. This is the one I'm thinking of ordering from David's Bridal...$135 This would be for my outdoor reception
  10. I am in love with Jim Jhelm's (sp?) designs and am wondering if anyone has purchase one of his dresses for cheap somewhere, or a knockoff of his style? I saw some on ebay, but I am hesitant...
  11. Love the flowers! Think I'm going to need a "travel shirt." Thanks for sharing!
  12. Hi Everyone, Forgive me if this has already been posted, but I searched and couldn't find anything in this forum. My question is Sandals specific: I was looking over the excursions offered through Sandals, and I noticed many of them say to not bring/wear jewelry. The thought of leaving my e-ring and band in the room had never crossed my mind until now. I know the room has a safe, but can it really be trusted? Has anyone thought about this? Anyone already married that has a solution to my problem? I certainly don't want to lose my ring on an excursion, or not be allowed to participate because I'm wearing a ring, but I'm a little weary of letting it out of my sight!
  13. Butterfly, see my post in the "Flowers" thread on this forum. I'm a Sandals bride, but I'm pretty sure they're all the same...out of the same catalogue. Have you received the Floral Catalogue PDF from her yet?
  14. You're welcome! I just wish I had them all. JB or anyone else, did you find out if they can customize bouquets...like mixing the callas with the white roses? I'm still trying to decide...

  17. Oh, and beyond just a quick fix (which we are all obviously looking for), this is a lifestyle change you can actually keep. I definitely need to stay healthy beyond the white dress!
  18. Glad you're going to read it, Diamondgirl! Yes, it definitely works. I am doing it right now and have dropped 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I was turned on to it by my friend who competes in figure competitions. There is a cookbook to go along with it, but I don't like to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, so I don't make all the food. I just stick to a quick "clean" diet...pack my little cooler every day for work.
  19. We are having at least 4 showers, so a traditional registry is a must. We chose Bed Bath and Beyond and Pottery Barn. Even though we live together and are older, we still need a lot of things. However, we still would like some cash for our wedding trip, so I'm thinking about posting a registry....not sure which one yet. I will check out Honeyfund, but does anyone have another favorite?
  20. I am SO with you girls. My family does not have a lot of money, and we knew that when we decided. BUT we gave everyone a year to save. 6 months to go and now people are saying they didn't know it would cost so much...they could have checked on that 6 months ago! And everyone keeps reminding me of how expensive my island choice is. Do they think I don't know that? Thank goodness for supportive friends and family who are thinking of this as a fun vacation with a wedding bonus. My TA told me to choose the destination where I would be happy if it were just the two of us and no one else showed up....so we did. When I chose a destination wedding, I thought it would be so easy to plan, but this is so much more stress than I thought it would be. Why do people have to make it soooo complicated??? Especially the people closest to us???!
  21. Less is more, I'm with you! Thanks for the picture of the pashminas...going to order them soon!
