Hi and welcome! I am getting married at Sandals Grande St. Lucian in July. We have several guests sharing rooms, and it has not really been a problem. I wouldn't worry about that aspect... If price is a factor though, you may want to look elsewhere. Many of my guests thought they would be able to go, but when the actual cost was figured, they couldn't afford it. I like Sandals in St. Lucia, because you can choose between the three resorts, but most wanted to stay where the wedding would take place, and that is the most expensive resort. The flights are also very expensive compared to other islands. I don't know though... if you're looking at November, the prices might be cheaper because of hurricane season. All that said, I am really looking forward to my wedding, and I know St. Lucia is one of the most beautiful and adventurous islands...it will be perfect. I just wish I could have more guests come with me! My awesome TA did offer me a piece of advice when I was planning....she said often she has brides plan for huge destination weddings, and then they are disappointed when not many guests can come. She said to plan the wedding as if the bride and groom might be the only ones there....so that's what we did! Good luck!

LilyRose, I know what you mean! I chose Sandals because of the three resort options (other two are much cheaper than the Grande, where we are getting married). Many people told me they would go, and now that it is time to book, they are saying it's too much money. I understand it's a lot, but I wish they had never said they would go....got my hopes up. Oh well, at least our families will be there. I just am now thinking I could have chosen a resort like Anse Chast or Jalousie, since I was creating cheaper options for guests who decided they will not come after all. On a side note, St. Lucia is sooooo expensive compared to other islands, especially flights! I really thought they would go down this month, but we had to go ahead and book, as there is only one flight per airline each day. That is something to consider for future brides trying to decide. I know it will be breathtaking though, and I can't wait! -

I'm so sorry to hear your plans were cancelled, but I'm glad you were able to arrange everything again. How complicated! I know it will be beautiful...how lucky you are to have your wedding in such a pretty place and then stay at Jade Mountain! -
Sandals St. Lucia Brides?

It hasn't really been a problem. I have a couple of guests staying together (two guys and two girls) to split costs. Not sure how they plan on sleeping, but I'm sure they'll figure it out lol. They advertise "couples only" but you can have only 1 person in a room or let whoever share. Some rooms have small sofas, but I don't know if they'd be big enough for someone to actually get a good night's rest on. -
Is it hurting in the front or inside? I have/had major knee issues, including surgeries, and my trainers always sent me to the elliptical or swimming if I was having pain (swimming is the best). I'm not a doctor, but have a lot of experience with pain while training....my two cents.... I would stop the running and treadmill and start icing/taking IBprofen after workouts. You have to give yourself a month or so to heal, if it's something minor. It's good to push through muscle pain, but not joint. STOP if you are hurting while exercising. You may have to just rest for a while. Oh, and also, I've found the best shoes for my knee problems are Saucony or Mizuno (the higher priced ones). Hope you feel better!

Which dress???
wilsonj2 replied to wilsonj2's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Wow! Thanks so much for the feedback! It sounds like everyone prefers #1. This was the original dress i tried on and loved. All of my friends say this one looks like me. FYI--I carry my weight in my hips and butt. I wish I had a picture of me in the dresses, but I don't. As for how I want to feel, part of me wants to be me (lace) and part of me wants to surprise everyone with my sexy side (halter). I just don't know... Thanks for the help... you guys are the best! -
Please help! I never thought it would be this much trouble to choose a dress. I never had that ahhhhhhhh moment that everyone talks about when looking for a dress, but I liked these two the best. I need to decide soon, so I'll have plenty of time to order/have alterations done. I'm 5'6" and curvy (size 10). I would love any and all opinions! I wanted something simple, but not plain...comfortable is important and both of these were. I appreciate any help deciding! Dress #1 is from David's Bridal VW9340 And dress #2 is from dessy.com (Sandals)

I put these pancakes in the refrigerater, wrapped in foil, and take them with me to go. You can also use this recipe to make muffins...just up your cottage cheese and oats...add in whatever fruit you like...and up the egg whites to about 9-10. Add whatever spices you like and some agave nectar or splenda.

Ceremony and Reception Music

That helps! I am now leaning toward just the steel drum band. We will not have as many people as I originally thought, so the DJ will not really be necessary. I think we are going to just take our IPod. I'm still curious to hear from anyone who has used the DJ though... -
Mexico or Jamaica
wilsonj2 replied to LisaRenee's topic in Sandals, Beaches, and Royal Plantation Resorts Weddings
We're getting married at the Grande in St. Lucia and are so excited. I chose Sandals, because I basically just want to show up and get married. I'm not one for making a lot of decisions. You can also choose to have a wedding at Pigeon Island National Park, which is right beside the Grande...this would just take some extra cost/planning on your part. There are also other resorts on the southern end of St. Lucia, like Anse Chastanet that offer incredible views for a ceremony. As for crime in Jamaica and Mexico, I cannot speak about Mexico, but I've been to Jamaica and loved every minute. The touristy resort parts are absolutely safe. You can even venture outside those areas and still be safe. As with all places (even in the US), you just have to know which parts to stay out of (and it's pretty obvious). I volunteered and stayed in Kingston, which is not touristy at all, and I never felt like I wasn't safe. It really is a beautiful island with a lot of soul. AND it's a lot cheaper than St. Lucia....if that matters to you. And, if you don't feel like going with Sandals, I found a little hidden gem while doing some research...Moon Dance Villas...I wanted to get married there, but it was a bit too expensive for a whole wedding group...being just the two of you, it might be just right. Good luck choosing a resort...this really is the hardest part, and everything will be a breeze after you decide! -

Welcome GWifey! Where are you getting married? I am bringing my own photographer as a guest at my wedding. I am going to politely decline the Sandals photography. -
I remember the first time I did that 20 minute video! I couldn't walk the next day! lol It was really painful, but it got better and I toned up a lot doing that. It's amazing what 20 minutes of interval training can do for your body. She has a really good (hard!) yoga DVD if you're into that. Also her abs one is awesome, but awesome in a painful way! haha she certainly gets results though

Ruelala is having a boutique sale for Style. I Do! with lots of wedding dresses right now. This is an awesome site! I have seen sales for many of the resorts, as well as designer wedding or party dresses on here for cheap! PM me if you want an invite. I know I sound like a salesman, but it really is AWESOME!

I've had a change of heart since I posted last...I'm actually liking what is happening now...it is going to be a very small, intimate gathering of the people who love me the most and are willing to shell out some major cash to see me get married. -

Ohh I like the idea of the locket, and I hadn't thought of that. I'm leaning more and more towards having my mom walk me down the aisle. -
I've always loved Crazy Love by Van Morrison, but I've found another sweet (and short!) song...Nothing Fancy by Dave Barnes.

I'm doing my own wedding day makeup....
wilsonj2 replied to bride2be31011's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I have oily skin too, so I will try the MUFE foundation. My question is for eyes...I usually wear the bare minimum in makeup, and when I've had it done it MAC, it just looks a bit heavy to me. Does anyone know of a place that does natural (but still stand out) makeup for eyes? I've tried Bobbi Brown, and that was not quite enough. Also, when you have a trial done at Sephora, do you have to buy the makeup they put on you? I know a lot of counters have a purchase minimum for trail makeup. I'm really worried I might have to get my makeup done at the resort spa...scary not knowing what to expect! -

Labebita, I lost my dad when I was young too. It's truly the most difficult thing about getting married for me. I like the idea of saving a seat for him and putting a flower on the chair, but I don't want everyone to be sad...it's supposed to be a "happy" day of course. Let me know if you come up with any great ideas to honor your father. -
Love everthing, especially the bags and mugs. Do you mind sharing where you purchased them?

Oh, and by "before bed" I mean about 2 hours before. It helps if you plan out your meals/times in a journal at first. Sometimes my schedule only lets me eat every four hours, but I try to not let that happen if possible. I am a teacher and have a crazy busy schedule/few breaks, so if I can do it, anybody can! Good luck! So glad we're able to support each other on here!
