  6. Congratulations and welcome to the forums! The terrace is a great locations. Yes... there are rooms over looking the area but that is common with most resorts. Is a great alternative to being on the beach and when setup with lights and music makes for a great party afterwards! Best of luck with all your planning.
  7. Congratulations and welcome to the forums! I have come to Mexico many times with various items that we allowed and not allowed! haha Customs is always a bit of a guessing game but I have never been denied anything... including a full desktop PC. I see no problems with your list and if you hit "green" on the light... you'll sail right thru! Best of luck and have fun with it all.
  8. Congratulations on your wedding and welcome to the forums. All I can tell you is that the wedding coordinators at these resorts are swamped with work. It often takes them a week to get back to brides so when you do email them... make sure you have all your questions clearly outlined for them. Best of luck!
  9. Congratulations and welcome to the forums. Sorry... I have not been to that location but wish you the best of luck in your search! Have fun with all your plans.
  10. Congratulations and welcome to the forums! Best of luck with all your planning... but I am bias when it comes to the Mayan Riviera. So many great places to get married. Have fun with it all.
  11. Playa Del Carmen weather, In our own words: DECEMBER, JANURAY, FEBUARY This is the best time of the year to travel to the Mayan Riviera if you don't like excruciating heat. December and January, temperatures cool down and on cloudless days swimming is just beautiful. At this time of the year you get the least amount of daylight, but Playa Del Carmen & Cancun light up at night so it's not really an issue. Humidity and rain are lowest during this period. If rain or a cloudy days do occur, things can cool down considerably. It is advisable to take a light jacket with you in order to stay comfortable. MARCH, APRIL, MAY Things start heating up mid-February and by April you can be roasting on the beautiful beaches of the Mayan Riviera. Water temperatures have not caught up but outside temps have started to rise. The "rains" start in April peaking in July-August. This is a wonderful time to travel because after "Spring Break", things calm down until the summer travel season starts in late June. Water temps are warm enough to swim comfortably; it's hot but not "July-August" hot. Weather-wise, it's a great time of the year to go. JUNE, JULY, AUGUST This is the hottest time of the year in Playa Del Carmen, especially mid-July and August. During these months the Mayan Riviera beaches fill with vacationers! Summer is also the rainy season however if it does rain, it tends to hit only once a day and for a very short period. Quite often you are happy it rained as it tends to cool things down a little, at least for a short while. On a cloudless day in August the heat can be unbearable for some people. Shoes are needed because the sand can get too hot to walk on. Even walking any great distance can become a chore. Dehydration is a major factor during the summer months as well as sun-burn. At 12:00 noon you can get burned in 15 minutes without proper sun-block. SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER In September and October the ocean water is hot from the summer heat. The outside temperature drops making daytime temps hot but bearable. Evenings are beautiful and you can still swim at night and be comfortable. This is also hurricane season along the Atlantic coast. Hurricanes or tropical storms can occur anytime between June and December, however the common period is September - November. It is advisable to pay close attention to weather reports during these months. 12. We put together a wiki of some of the things we have noticed over the years that should be considered while choosing resorts. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/wiki/how-to-pick-a-resort-for-a-destination-wedding Take a peak and good luck with your planning
  13. Hey Amanda, first off congratulations on your engagement and deciding to have a destination wedding. There is a lot of information on this forum that can answer almost any question that you could think of. To help save you some time I can answer some of your questions here. If you are having an official wedding back in Canada the ceremony here is just artificial. You don't need any blood work and you don't have to hire a priest. Most of the time someone for the resort will preform the ceremony for you. And you just sign a simple certificate that you can take with you. Weddings are a very big industry here in the Riviera Maya. I think it would be hard pressed to find a resort that didnt have the ability to host a wedding. A page you should check out before you start is http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/wiki/how-to-pick-a-resort-for-a-destination-wedding . As well, almost all of the resorts allow children. There are a few adults only resorts here in the Mayan but most you will be able to bring your son too. Good luck with your planning and feel free to drop us a line any time if you want more help.
  14. Enjoy your last few days. Hopefully when it is your turn to press the button at the airport it turns green and your off and running If the light turns red they go thru your things but if its green you just walk thru.
