  1. May is such a busy time of year for brides here in the Mayan! My schedule is already filling up for this month. I do shoot The Royal Playa del Carmen a lot and have been to the Royal Cancun. Let me know if you have any questions about the resort! Best of luck with all your planning. Lincoln
  2. Congratulations and welcome to the forums! I see you have already gotten the time of the sunset (7:19) and most of the advice on when to start you ceremony (recommending 2hrs prior)... so no need to answer all of those again! haha We do have a Sunset Information here if you want to look up other dates: http://momentsthatmatterphotography.com/mexicoweather.html As well..I thought I would give you a reminder on what the weather is typically like here! Playa Del Carmen weather, In our own words: DECEMBER, JANURAY, FEBUARY This is the best time of the year to travel to the Mayan Riviera if you don't like excruciating heat. December and January, temperatures cool down and on cloudless days swimming is just beautiful. At this time of the year you get the least amount of daylight, but Playa Del Carmen & Cancun light up at night so it's not really an issue. Humidity and rain are lowest during this period. If rain or a cloudy days do occur, things can cool down considerably. It is advisable to take a light jacket with you in order to stay comfortable. MARCH, APRIL, MAY Things start heating up mid-February and by April you can be roasting on the beautiful beaches of the Mayan Riviera. Water temperatures have not caught up but outside temps have started to rise. The "rains" start in April peaking in July-August. This is a wonderful time to travel because after "Spring Break", things calm down until the summer travel season starts in late June. Water temps are warm enough to swim comfortably; it's hot but not "July-August" hot. Weather-wise, it's a great time of the year to go. JUNE, JULY, AUGUST This is the hottest time of the year in Playa Del Carmen, especially mid-July and August. During these months the Mayan Riviera beaches fill with vacationers! Summer is also the rainy season however if it does rain, it tends to hit only once a day and for a very short period. Quite often you are happy it rained as it tends to cool things down a little, at least for a short while. On a cloudless day in August the heat can be unbearable for some people. Shoes are needed because the sand can get too hot to walk on. Even walking any great distance can become a chore. Dehydration is a major factor during the summer months as well as sun-burn. At 12:00 noon you can get burned in 15 minutes without proper sun-block. SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER In September and October the ocean water is hot from the summer heat. The outside temperature drops making daytime temps hot but bearable. Evenings are beautiful and you can still swim at night and be comfortable. This is also hurricane season along the Atlantic coast. Hurricanes or tropical storms can occur anytime between June and December, however the common period is September - November. It is advisable to pay close attention to weather reports during these months.
  3. Congratulations and welcome to the forums! Have fun with all your Jamaican planning! Lincoln
  4. Congratulations and welcome to the forums! My only advice is to be patient and wait for a response... or you could also call and leave a message. I can tell you that these wedding coordinators are working full time taking care of brides and are often overwhelmed with the numbers of email they get. I often see them at a wedding coordinating the events going on that day and then working on their laptops when they have a minute. It can often take over a week to hear from them... so get all your questions lined up and organized so they can answer them all at once. We are often used to emailing with people and almost having a conversation with the number of emails sent back and forth... it doesn't work that way. Best of luck! Lincoln
  5. Congratulations and welcome to the forums! All I can tell you about the resort photographers... is you have to use them. They are not allowing outside photographers onsite. All tho I recently heard that the policy has changed. I have not had a bride confirm that yet so maybe one can set us straight with the new policy if there is one. Best of luck with your plans! Lincoln ps - I was able to shoot one wedding there many many moons ago! Here is a link to the pictures. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.184231224486.122215.18683524486&type=1

  7. Hi Aimee and welcome to the forums! I recently shot a wedding at NOW Jade... I don't remember if it was a symbolic ceremony or not? What is your specific question in regards to that? Here is link to the wedding at NOW Jade... I hope you enjoy. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150238144924487.334265.18683524486&type=1 Lincoln
  8. Congratulations and welcome to the forums! If you just do a search for The Royal Cancun above... you will tones of links and information to help you plan!!! Best of luck with everything Lincoln
  9. Congratulations and welcome to the forums! Personally... I prefer the Playa del Carmen area just because it is a great little town that have something for everybody! Guests can always head into town for some shopping, entertainment, beach of just drinks. You really don't have to worry about them being entertained. As mentioned above... Tulum is much more tranquil and very relaxing. It all depends on what your looking for but I think being closer to Playa will make for a better week for everybody. Best of luck with all your plans and feel free to email me directly if you have any questions. Lincoln
  10. Congratulations Miss Sanders and welcome to the forums! I have been to both Dreams and Moon Palace many times and there are good and bad sides to both. I hate talking about the bad... haha... so let me give you some of the good. Dreams: Location is the furthest from the airport... about 1.5hr drive Resort size is small... which is fantastic for getting around and seeing guests. Wedding site is amazing... great views and semi private Some rooms are out dated... some are new! I love shooting weddings here... so many picturesque places and nooks They allow outside vendors and now offer a no-fee option. but we still prefer you buy us a $45 day pass so we can enjoy a drink and possible a meal if need be. Moon Palace: Location is close to the airport... about 25 minute drive Resort is a lot bigger and kinda confusing... but Im sure after a week you''ll figure it out Wedding sites are in Gazebos... so can be private. Also a nice beach location with is semi private Rooms are both modern and dated as well... but you'll find something really nice! Resort offers a lot less for picture variety... but thats our job to get the best for you! haha They say they don't allow outside vendors so you must get us on as your "guest". The will allow a guest to shoot your wedding. If you can get a day pass it is $100/person (I shoot with an assistant) or they might require a night stay which is the case most of the time. If you have any specific questions ... please send me an email! Lincoln

  16. Congratulations and welcome to the forums! All I can say is that its our job as professional photographers to clean up your background for your wedding pictures. Granted... that can not always be done when the ceremony takes place smack dab in the middle of a public beach... but it can be drastically reduced. Here is a sample that take place at The Royal Playa del Carmen and the couple choose the main public beach that has beach goes walking by constantly. Its a challenge... but can be done! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150206092334487.326345.18683524486&type=1 Best of luck with all your plans. Please email me if you have any questions about the resorts. Lincoln

  19. Congratulations and welcome to the forums! I had never heard of Golden Parnassus so I looked it up... Im assuming this is the one located in Cancun, Mexico?!? I've never personally shot there so can't tell you about the wedding coordinators. If they are like any other WC's out here... they are over worked and bogged down with work. Most take a few days and up to a week to respond to email so be patient when them. Best of luck with all your planning!

  24. Hola BooBoo, I've been living here in Playa del Carmen with my baby girls Peanut & Maya! I walk them almost everyday around Playacar and its a great area to walk your dog. Right in Playa del Carmen there are lots of dogs... some good, some bad, lots loose. You need to be careful when walking a small dog as things can happen. Im not trying to scare you... just be careful. Most restaurants will allow dogs to stay with you at your feet. Taxis will often let you have your dog with you... there are so many cabs so Im sure a small dog will get picked up. Dogs are not allowed on the beaches anywhere.. all tho that doesn't stop people from bringing them, plus the street dogs find their way there. If you bring your dog to a public beach that is patrolled by the Touristica police.. its just a matter of time before they find you and ask you to remove your dog. Not a big deal. If you do find yourself going out for a long day... you can drop your pup off at the Dog Holiday (http://www.dogholiday.com.mx/index.asp). I take my pups there when I have to do a wedding shoot. They love it there and the day cost is very cheap! Its around $12/$13 bucks for the day for a small dog. Drop off between 6am and 10am... pickup between 4pm and 7pm. Robert and Marion will take the best care of your baby and she will have doggie dreams for days! haha Peanut (Pug/Beagle cross - aka:SPOILED) Maya (Mexican Greyhound... aka: Street dog!)
  25. Congratulations on finishing your "project"! I really like the Maraca note... very cute!
