Yay!! So excited you're going there. You're going to LOVE it so much, one of my favourite places in the world. I literally used to run down the beach every morning, but if you wanted to you could really be a trooper and run into town and back. It's quite the climb up a pretty steep hill but would definetly be great for training..depending on what kind you're doing. Does anyone in your group surf? There's lots of good surf in the area! Puerto Escondido is a very fun place to visit even if you're not going to surf. You can catch a bus (and it's a really fun bus ride) from La Crucicita, which is the local town 5 minutes from the resort there. You can also catch cabs depending on how many are going... I also really like the jungle ATV tour that they do, as long as you don't mind getting a LITTLE muddy. There's really a lot to do in the area. Fishing tours, boat tours, hiking tours. Let me know what you think your group will be interested in and I can recommend something

Where to now?
TA Becky replied to IslandBride15's topic in Sandals, Beaches, and Royal Plantation Resorts Weddings
I agree with Turks, and you should try to look at Sandal's if you're having adults only as they include 1 dive/day. With a free Wedding package, and the diving included it would work out to be a great deal for you. You could also look at other Sandal's locations that have diving too, just for some options Good luck!! -
Sounds good to me! I live in the Woodwards building in Gastown and we have a really cool meeting room upstairs, and also a super nice rooftop patio with lots of lounge chairs. Might be fun to try and meet there as long as there's not a ton of us

Welcome to the forum!! Sounds like you're going to have an interesting Wedding You mentioned the Barcelo Maya Palace (I know what story you're talking about by the way..) Have you looked at the Bahia Principe Akumel? It's very close to the Barcelo, great beach and excellent with Destination Weddings. I've also found the pricing to be really favourable as well..so you might want to check it out! Good luck, and happy posting!

It's also a good idea to check and see if your Travel Agent can get the supplier to extend your flights for another week or two. If this is possible, sometimes the supplier won't even charge for the extention, or it will be a very small fee. Once you do that, you should be able to fly into Mexico City (although be wary of Mexicana Airlines at the moment, they're possibly going bankrupt). From Mexico City you could fly into places like Costa Rica, Panama, Belize, Nicaragua, Ecuador quite easily. There's a ton of great places that you can Honeymoon there. It would work the same for your flight back, flying into Mexico City and then into Puerto Vallarta. Hope this helps!

Advice for a large destination wedding needed
TA Becky replied to paigepaper's topic in Costa Rica Weddings
When I went there, I flew into San Jose and drove to the ferry, then off the ferry and drove into Mal Pais/Santa Teresa. That was quite the mission! I know that there's charter flights from Canada that go into Tambor Beach, which is fairly close to Mal Pais/Santa Teresa so it wouldn't take long to get there. They go from most Canadian cities. For nightlife, I did go out quite a bit when I was there. Santa Teresa particularly had a few nightclubs, which I had so much fun at. I also really enjoyed the Sunday market at the beach, as it turned into a beach party with the sunset. -
Advice for a large destination wedding needed
TA Becky replied to paigepaper's topic in Costa Rica Weddings
I have a friend that lives in Mal Pais, which is on the Pacific Side of Costa Rica on the Nicoya Peninsula. I really think the area is beautiful, great beaches for Weddings. You might want to try: http://www.luzdevida-resort.com/index.htm They have a variety of different types of accomodation and they can accomodate up to 100 guests. This would be a great option if you're looking for something that's not all inclusive. For yourself, if you want to stay somewhere afterwards, I LOVE Casa Chameleon. It's only made up of 3 villas, but would be great for a few nights after your Wedding, or perhaps you stay there and your guests could stay at Luz De Vida? http://www.hotelcasachameleon.com/ Good luck!! Let me know if you want to know anything else about Mal Pais/Santa Teresa. -
Welcome!! That looks like an amazing resort, it really reminds me of Greece! I also love how they grow a lot of their own veggies onsite, amazing. I've never seen this property before, but I'll definitely be looking at it in the future

I really like the turquoise, I think you made the right decision. It's such a great colour and I don't think it will blend in too much at all I can't see the attachment either, but if you can post it somehow I can let you know my opinon.

Hello Everyone If you're looking for a different place to get married in Mexico, I highly recommend Huatulco. I love it there SO much, I actually lived there for a year back in 2004 and I really didn't want to leave. Huatulco is located in Oaxaca State, so it's the 2nd most Southern state in Mexico. I find that this area of Mexico is very authentic. It's a great way to really experience Mexican culture in a beautiful setting, off the beaten track. It's on the Pacific side of Mexico, and unlike some of the other beach areas further North, the beaches are a lighter coloured brown , and the water is much lighter blue. I used to run on the beach right outside the resort I worked at, and it took me over 20 minutes in each direction. It really is an ideal place to have a Destination Wedding. I'm very partial to Dream's resorts, and the resort that I used to work at has actually turned into a Dream's property, the Dream's Huatulco! This is by FAR where I recommend that you have your Destination Wedding. The resort is located in Tangolunda Bay, beachfront with many locations for your ceremony and reception. The sunsets here are breathtaking!! There's quite a few restaurants, one of the most popular being the Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant. I also really like some of the unique touches, such as the Tropical View with Jacuzzi rooms. The Jacuzzi is right on the balcony! There's a few little villages close by, great for day trips and to see 'the real Mexico'. Please see this website for more information on the property: http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drehu/ If you have any other questions about this property, feel free to ask me. It's really one of the best places in Mexico to get married!!

Cuba can be an affordable luxury destination for your Wedding. The white sand beaches are long and endless and pretty much picture perfect for your dream beach Wedding. It is however very important to understand the differences between a 4* in Cuba, compared to a 4* star in Mexico, or elsewhere in the Caribbean. The food, service and overall quality of the resorts can be comprimised by deciding to have a Wedding in Cuba and going with a 4* property. Most Bride's find that the food is very bland, sometimes even unedable at such properties. I'm sure you can all imagine what it would be like to have complaints coming from all your guests in regards to the hard beds, the bland food and the horrible service. Not something that you want to be thinking about on the most important day of your life!! Here's a list of some 4* properties that are EXCELLENT with Destination Weddings, and a group of 5* properties if you're looking for only the best 4-4 1/2* Properties: #1. Barcelo Marina Palace- The Barcelo chain has quality properties and if you've ever stayed at one then you know what to expect. Great food, friendly staff and a fun activities program. Rooms are more traditional than modern. The beach is huge at this property, and perfect for your dream beach Wedding. http://www.barcelo.com/BarceloHotels/en-GB/Hotels/Cuba/Varadero/MarinaPalace/Home http://www.barceloweddings.com/ #2. Blau Varadero- Although I wouldn't specifically recommend this property if you're looking for a very picturesque tropical garden reception, the beach is fairly nice and this property gets great reviews from all. The food gets especially high reviews which is always a good thing for Cuba http://www.blauhotels.com/ #3-Barcelo Solymar- This is a super fun, activities filled property. Great for groups that are active and looking for an exciting property. As mentioned above, Barcelo is a great chain that you can rely on to do a good job. http://www.barcelo.com/BarceloHotels/en-GB/Hotels/Cuba/Varadero/Solymar/Home #4-Tryp Peninsula- Great property if you're looking for a resort that's family friendly. I love the little water park they have for kids. On a lovely stretch of beach and excellent food. Gets very good reviews from all. http://www.solmelia.com/hotels/cuba/varadero/tryp-peninsula-varadero/home.htm http://www.weddingcubachannel.com/programs/weddings-packages 5* Properties: #1-Iberostar Laguna Azul and Iberostar Varadero- I think both of these properties go above and beyond in relation to beach, food and resort amenities. They're both very family friendly so if you have kids this would be my luxury recommendations. http://vol.iberostar.com/EN/Varadero-hotels/Iberostar-Laguna-Azul_3_141.html http://www.iberostar.com/redireccion.asp?conccodi=3&codiconc=79&merccodi=6&idiocodi=2 http://www.iberostar.com/EN/wedding.html #2-Paradisus Princesa Del Mar- This is my adults only favourite in Cuba. All Jr. Suites in small buildings, amazing stretch of beach, you can even get butler service (perhaps extend and do your Honeymoon here?). You also get a dive/day if your PADI certified, which is a nice touch. Reminds me of Sandals. http://www.solmeliacuba.com/cuba-hotels/hotel-paradisus-princesadelmar/ http://www.paradisus.com/romance-weddings.php There's a lot more to say about all of these properties, but I hope this has given you some ideas as to where to start looking if you're considering Cuba. Good Luck!!
