Ginger, to avoid the blood test and the paperwork a lot of brides are getting legally married in their country before (or after) the trip. So that is an option if you want to avoid the blood test. Some couples don't tell anyone about the legal marriage and other tell their family why and what they chose to do. We're getting married in the US before we leave for Mexico, to not have to deal with translating the marriage license, blood tests etc. Congrats on booking your resort! It is the hardest decision, at least for me. Â After starting this thread I/we decided to go with another resort so I'm no longer a Gran Porto bride, but I wish everyone the best for their beautiful Gran Porto wedding!!

Lisa, I'm thinking of ordering from Monica Bridal as well after reading about your and Bonnie's experience with her. I just have to get out and try some dresses on so I know what style I want. I'm excited to see how you dress will turn out! Â Congrats Futuredawson!! Â I think I am done with my STDs and might order them from Vistaprint today. Now if I could only get my FI to collect all the addresses from his family...hmm....

Haha! That's funny! I could open it, very pretty!! I think I might be almost done with ours. Just not sure about the wording on the back of the postcard, I want to put too much information on there...just can't help myself

Here is the link to the one I used: http://playazone.wordpress.com/2009/03/01/playa-del-carmen-is-it-safe/ it is from a blog that the resort owners of Luna Blue Hotel write. When looking for it today I saw that they have written much more about it on their blog now and referring to a lot of other articles. I saved the pic of the map and uploaded it as well to our website, I think that for some people it helps to see it on a map. Â Hi Lisa & Kristie!

SKing, do you have pics to share? I think I'm going for the postcards too. I just see all these great ideas on here and keep changing my mind as far as the design goes  Welcome elbachow!

I'm not worried about the violence at all, but some of our guests are. Especially since there was a shooting in Cancun a couple of days ago and then a fight got delayed (yesterday?) from Dallas to Cancun because "people" thought the pilot was drunk. The shooting happened in a ghetto part of Cancun and I still don't think it is any more dangerous than a big city in the US...probably less IMHO. I have found a great article on the matter and posted it on our wedding website for our guests to read. Let me know if you want the link to the article! It had a map as well showing how far it is from the border cities to the Riviera Maya, I had to add on there that the violence is actually closer to Texas (where we live) than Riviera Maya

I think we are going to do Boarding Passes as our invitations with the perforated side as the RSVP. Not sure yet. I love the magnets but we're on a tight budget with a long guest list, so I thought 100 free postcards would be a more economical option I have considered doing STDs by email as well, since we will hopefully send out the invites in another month or two. 50% or more of our guest list are in Europe so it would save time, money and be environmental friendly Not sure how to make an email still look pretty though....oh, decision, decisions.....

I took a break for a week (read I was busy and too lazy to do it) and started again today. It feels so good when I'm done. I will try level 2 tomorrow (this is a goal not a promise lol).

Hahaha! I'm a BDW addict, I would have gone crazy without this forum! It helps that I work from home and can be online all day I don't have a lot of friends where we live right now and there are only so much wedding talk my other friends can take hahaha! Â

Thank you girls!!! I'm feel the same, yesterday I was overwhelmed and today I feel like I have it under control I have to finalize these STDs and I will feel much better. I haven't even started looking for a dress, but have been checking out the knock-off dresses thread on this forum and I think that is the way I want to go. I still have to decide on a style though, but first STDs. Â What did you all do for STDs? I'm thinking of doing postcards on Vistaprint since they are free and then do my own passport invites.

Yes, I do like the ones you were looking at. I'm not sure I want chair covers but I do want chair bows. I'm hoping we will have around the same number of guests, as I have no clue yet but I'm hoping to have about 40 guests. We still have time though if they ship that fast. I'm struggling with my STDs right now, thought it might be fun to design something myself but it is driving me crazy so I might just do the Vistaprint design and add text. Â

That sounds really great!! I have to finish and order the STDs today....I haven't even started on all the other stuff yet hahahaha! Â

I plan to send out my invitations in January and likely wont get a number on people until Feb. I have orders some fans. Other than that....nothing. I have all this contact info for photographers and florists and feel like its too early to proceed. Â Â I feel the same way about photographer since I don't have a certain one I want yet, if I did I would probably try to book them now because it seems as the most popular ones (at least in the Riviera Maya) are already booked for May. I have only looked at dresses online, but I guess I will have to step that up Today's project is STDs and to send the deposit in to the resort. Most of our guests will not book until next year I'm afraid so I will be in your shoes even after sending out the STDs I'm sure. Â

Oh, you are way ahead compared to me I do have the date confirmed, and I think I will feel more at ease after I have sent the STDs. I should probably send invites right away instead, but I want to do my own passport invites and that will take longer than ordering postcard STDs from Vistaprint Need to get the word out there since we have no idea how many people are coming. I love, love the first one!!! My second choice would be the second on the left. I am looking for something similar for my bouquet, but I might go with one of the ones they offer in the packages.  You're right every penny counts, and I want as many of our guests as possible to be able to attend. I need to spend tomorrow on vistaprint.com hahahaha!

Oh, Lisa I wish I would be there when you will be there, but the prices were just too expensive for my guest, since they are already traveling so far and paying a lot for their plane tickets. We will get there on April 30 though, we might see each other at the airport  I think I have two different wedding books, will check later but I believe I got the old one from my TA and the new on from Ana. I'll let you all know after I have compared them.  I love your Vistaprint stuff!! I want to order our STDs and get some of the other stuff as well. I think we might move before the wedding though, so not sure what to do about the address labels....well, I guess we're not moving until Jan so it might work, hopefully people have booked by then. Since we haven't sent out our STDs or invites yet I don't have a clue how many people will actually come. I know we'll be at least 15 people but hopefully closer to 30-40 when the invites go out.
