  1. My understanding is if you want to have a symbolic ceremony you have to bring with you a copy of your Marriage Certificate. But you can always explain your situation to the wedding coordinator and see if they are willing to perform the ceremony without it.
  2. I am also getting married in July 2012. I have already booked my date with the resort because I was set on a particular date and did not want to chance the date being taken. As far as music is concerned I have already booked a DJ as well. The DJ at the resort I chose did not get very good reviews and our families are big dancers so the music has to be on point. A bonus to booking the DJ so early is that he gave me the 2010 price rather then 2012! But not knowing the exact cost of things is frustrating. I have set my budget but I know that it will most likely come out to be more because I am working with 2010 prices.
  3. As stated before I am sure this was very hard for you to write but it is always good to let things out, especially something so crucial like this. Getting married is a very serious commitment and if you are having doubts about it then you really need to sit your FI down and tell him how you are feeling. If he is going to be the man you spend the rest of your life with then you should feel comfortable talking to him. The worst thing you can do is go forth with this marriage and not express your doubts and fears at all and end up living the rest of your life regretting that you never spoke up. Life is too short and you deserve to be happy and confident in the decisions you make for your future. I wish you so much luck in whatever you decide to do. Please keep us updated.
  4. Oh I love this question...my list would be forever long...but if I had to choose one thing it would definitely be to provide an all expense paid trip for our families and friends to come to the wedding!!
  5. You should be so excited its is going to be one of the most important days of your life!!
  6. I requested 5 pm. I believe the sun sets around 7p... This is my time line: 5:00pm-6:00pm ceremony (I believe the ceremony is only 30 minutes long but I figured give some extra time because wedding ceremony's usually don't start on time) 6:00pm-7:00pm pictures/cocktail hour 7:00pm-10:30pm reception That's what I have planned in my head for the time line but we shall see:)
  7. I went ahead and booked my date at the resort in Jamaica already, July 21, 2012. The resort I am getting married at only does one wedding per day so I wanted to make sure we would get the date we wanted. But we are taking a trip to Jamaica in May 2011 just to confirm everything. There is no penality fee if we choose to cancel because our ceremony will only be a symbolic ceremony, we plan on getting legally married at home right before we leave for Jamaica.
  8. The pictures are beautiful. Is this resort adults only?

    2012 Bride

    Yay!! Another 2012 bride!!Congrats!!
  11. If you are still in need of an answer to this question in the wedding packet that I have it says that the resort "suggests having the ceremony between 4:00pm and 5:00pm because the heat of the day has passed and you will still have light to take quality photos after the ceremony. Also by 5:00pm almost all the activities around the pool and beach are over so you can have more privacy during the ceremony." I hope this helps!
  12. It depends...Are your guests big drinkers? If they are I would just pay the per person fee. But if you are only looking at 2 hours and they are not big drinkers then putting the set amount should do. Good luck!
  13. Thank you for the website! There are some great ideas!!
  14. So true this forum is very addicting!!! But in a good way!!
  15. Congrats!!! So exciting your day will be here before you know it! But you have come to the right place for great ideas and support. Happy Planning!!
  16. This forum is full of great info!!! Check out the Jamaica forum and you will find tons of info!!Good Luck!!
  17. Hey Islandgirl910- as far as vendor fee's for the Suites go the day pass is $100.00 per vendor from the ceremony time until the end of the celebration. And my understanding is you don't have to pay for the florist as they will just be dropping the flowers off and not staying. As far as the DJ goes he did not get very many good reviews on here from past brides that I read. Music is a very big deal for us as well so I went and hired Kevan Stewart to DJ and MC the night. So far he has been great getting back to me and so forth so the extra cost to us is going to be worth it!! I think a lot of the past brides on here brought CD's with them and just had the resort DJ play those. I hope that helps!
  18. Hello everyone!! Username: delgadot Name: Tiffany & Barry Location: Iberostar Rose Hall Suites, Montego Bay Wedding: July 21, 2012 Happy Planning!!
  19. Hey ladies I have confirmed my wedding date at Iberostar Rose Hall Suites for July 21, 2012!!! I know it is so far away but I am so excited and I had to share!!!
  20. First of all Congrats on confirming your date!! Secondly, your pictures are beautiful, it looks like you guys had a great time! Thank you for sharing. I do have a question when you planned your site visit did you also schedule to meet with the photographers on one of the days you were there? Where did you meet with them? Did they come to the resort or did you go somewhere else? If they came to the resort did you have to buy them a day pass to be on the property? I am asking because I am planning my site visit and I wanted to be able to meet with some vendors too but I was not really sure how to go about it. Thanks!!
  21. When I first started planning my wedding I was so excited and one of the first questions I asked myself was who is going to be my BM's? I have been so indescive about this that I am driving myself crazy (not to say my poor FI) At first I said 6 BM's then I went to 2 then to 3 and now I am thinking about 4!LOL I made the mistake in the beginning of asking my FI's sister immediatly to be one of my BM's and she was very surprised she even asked me if I was sure?(She knows I have a very big close family) and the truth is she and I are not close at all, but I felt sort of obligated to ask her. As soon as I had asked her I regreted it. Deep down inside I knew I wanted to have one of my cousin's in it instead. So my FI knew how I felt and he said to me listen I know my sister she will totally understand so I will tell her how you feel and trust me she will be fine. And sure enough he told her and she was fine with it. So I got over that hump...and now it's on to me making a descion on a solid # of BM (3 or4?) I know for me I let the excitement get to me and I totally jumped the gun!!!
  22. Islandgirl910 I can tell you for me, that even though we will be inviting 100 people about 80% are close family and friends the other 20% are people we feel obligated to invite but we know they wont come. One of the reasons I chose a destination wedding is because I wanted to have my closest friends and family there for my day not joe blow cousin that I havent seen in years or so and so's girlfriend I have never met. I want to walk down the ile and know every single person that will be out there witnessing our day:)
