You are not insane at all! I feel like its great that we start early because our date will be here before we all know it!! I have not been able to send out save the dates yet because I know my wedding will be in Montego Bay I am just not sure of the venue yet But trust me if I knew I would have mailed mine out already too!! LOL I am visiting Jamaica this Memorial Day week-end to confirm which venue and resort I am going to book with. I am so excited and looking forward to this! So as soon as we get back I will send out my STD's. I have already booked a DJ and I am 99% set on a photographer (I will be meeting the photographer during my site visit to confirm). This website has given me tons of ideas for DIY projects. I am going to make the program petal fans and the passport invitations. I am trying to keep things simple but this site has so many wonderful ideas its hard to keep things simple LOL I have an accordion binder full of great ideas! I am right now working on a travel agent! So I have not booked my accommodations yet but plan too once I get back from my site trip:)

YAY!! July 2012 Bride here!! Montego Bay, Jamaica still decideing exactly where my wedding will be but we will most likely be staying at one of the Iberostar resorts!! I am so excited as I am sure everyone else is!!

Hello Ladies! Can someone please e-mail me the wedding details for Iberostar Rose Hall Beach. The informtaion on the different wedding locations, cocktail party locations and reception options? I have the one for the Suites but I am interested in getting information on the Beach resort too! Thanks:)

PurpleUnicorn was so kind and she e-mailed me Sunset Resorts Wedding packet and it said they charge $250.00 for outside vendors.

I think that is what it comes down to"what is more important to you" Everyone has different ideas of what means more to them. If having family there means a lot then yes go for a more reasonably priced resort but if location/venue is your priority then go for the more expensive option. I am thinking about going with the more reasonably priced location for the accomodations and just having my wedding off site. So I can sort of have the best of both, my family there and my dream wedding:)

I really love Stacey's work as well! She is so responsive and seems like such a sweeet heart. I think 5 hours should be good enough but maybe you can ask her. I am considering her 5 hour package as well for the same kinds of photography shots you mentioned:)

Yes the communication is what I love and don't get when dealing with the resorts. Things are going for me I am just counting down the days until May so that the stress of not knowing can be put to an end:)

Well don't give up on wedding planners just yet I have two suggestions,Joanne from wedding belles Jamaica her e-mail address is [email protected] and Denise from events made easy her e-mail address is [email protected] I had contacted both of these women during my early stages of planning and they were very responsive I found them on the website called islandbrides.com It is crazy how in the beginning I had thought doing a destination wedding would be less expensive and less stressful....oh was I so wrong.... I feel like the cost at the end will be very close to what we would have spent to have a wedding at home and its more stressful because your having to make crucial decisions through the Internet! Its like you almost have to plan a site visit to see things in person in order to avoid sleepless nights! At this point I am just counting down the days until my site visit in May.I think destination weddings are definitely more for brides who don't need to have control that is so not me! I am so tired of just not knowing. I do have the DJ already but no venue picked!!! I know I am crazy! I was originally set on Iberostar Rose Hall Suites and I read that the resort DJ sucked and I knew how important music was to the FI so I looked into Kevan and he was willing to give me a lower rate to book him now vs waiting 2 years so I booked him!! So how many people are you expecting to come to Jamaica?

Wow 6 months to go!! I did start planning the minute we started talking about getting married LOL which is good in some aspects because I am so indecisive, but the wait is torture! Anyhow as far as music goes I hired Kevan Stewart for my DJ and MC. He has gotten great reviews and has been very professional so far with me. You should check him out. Have you considered hiring a wedding planner? Tropical Weddings gets really good reviews, I had contacted them and Almarie got right back to me within 1 hour! amazing! You can always send her an e-mail letting her know what you need/want and see what she quotes you...

Hey Sharon99- Thank you so much for the recommendation but I think I may have actually found a travel agent! She works for a travel agency that is 5 minutes from me and she is a Certified Destination Wedding Specialist so far she has been communicating with me well so I am crossing my fingers that I am done searching for a travel agent!!LOL Thanks Again!!

Well I have not contacted them recently because I am currently trying to narrow down a resort for my groups accommodations and this has not been a fun process. I had my mind set on Iberostar Rose Hall Suites but have discovered that it is completely out of my group's budget so I am now thinking about staying at Iberostar Rose Hall Beach so we shall see.... I am visiting Jamaica this May and my plan is to hopefully be able to visit Hummingbird Hall in person. If we are able to negotiate a reasonable price and the venue is as great as it looks online then I will go with them, but if it's out of our budget or does not look as wonderful in person then I may just settle and get married at Iberostar. I cannot believe how stressful this process has been and its so scary because I still have over a year to go!!! So how are your plans coming along?

Well so far I have not been getting anywhere with Liberty Travel. I have now contacted a second agent on Wednesday morning at 9 am and she told me to give her 1-2 days to get back to me with some group rates...well it is now Monday and I have still not heard from her!! Urgh....This is so frustrating!! Sorry ladies I am just venting!!

Yes I am still trying to figure out why you have to buy a day pass too....I am not sure if you have to buy a day pass if you want to be able to offer them food and drinks...? I just know that I hired the DJ Kevan Stewart and girls who have gotten married at Iberostar have said that they had to pay both fees for him...To me it's a bit ridiculous and unfortunately I already booked Kevan (before I knew this) and he is going to be with us for 6 hours so I think its only right to offer him a plate of food so I have no choice! I am doing a terrible job at staying within our budget

Well I wish there was no vendor fee at all however the $100 is not too bad, what I do disagree with is having to purchase a day pass on top of paying the vendor fee!

Hello Purple Unicorn- I know a couple who got married there as well and they said they had a very lovely wedding. I am in the process right now of crunching some numbers with a travel agent because my first resort choice is Iberostar Rose Hall Suites but the rates for that resort are not looking too good so my next choice might be Sunset Beach Resort just because it is an all inclusive resort in Montego Bay and is affordable. I had e-mailed the resort requesting their wedding information but I still have not heard back from them. Would you mind e-mailing me any information you have on the resort's wedding services/packages plus add ons [email protected] I am curious to know are you able to hire outside vendors like a DJ and photographer and can you rent out any of the restaurants for the wedding reception? The Italian restaurant looks beautiful... Thank you so much in advance!
