Iberostar Rose Hall Suites Trip
delgadot replied to Krisco1031's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
Mishka- I am going to visit Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in May. I am so happy to hear that you were not disappointed. If you don't mind can you tell me how you planned your trip, what appointments did you schedule? How soon before you left did you get in contact with Nicole to schedule your meeting with her? and how long was the meeting with her? Did you meet with the florist in person? My trip is still a while from now but I want to make the trip as productive as possible. I had sent Nicole an e-mail letting her know that I was coming in May to visit and she said she would meet with me so for me to just contact her when the trip was closer. I have been debating between having my wedding at Iberostar Rose Hall Suites or Hummingbird Hall, so hopefully this trip will confirm which location to go with. Thank you so much in Advance! -
my beautiful bridal bouquet :)
delgadot replied to MrsGP2be's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Your bridal bouquet is gorgeous!!! I love the picture charms too. My dad passed away in 2008 and I wanted to have a charm around my bouquet so that he can still walk me down the ile. Can you please tell me where you got the charm from I think it is so nice!! -
I am planning my wedding for Montego Bay Jamaica. Does anyone recommend a good TA I could reach out too?

OMG!!!! I am so worried now!!! I recently booked our site visit trip to Jamaica through Orbitz.com for May 2011! I have only booked through Orbitz one time in the past for a hotel and it worked out fine. But this time I have booked a vacation package for 4 through them! We booked it for Memorial week-end which is a holiday week-end too!!! Now I am so worried that our reservations will be messed up!!

Mexico or Jamaica
delgadot replied to LisaRenee's topic in Sandals, Beaches, and Royal Plantation Resorts Weddings
I have to say my cousin had a destination wedding in St. Lucia (July 2008) and it was beautiful!!!! Her wedding is why me and my FI are having a destination wedding! You will not be disappointed in choosing St. Lucia! Her ceremony was on a cliff overlooking the ocean (breathtaking views) and her reception was at a restaurant also located right on the water. Did I mention she pulled up to the ceremony in a horse and carriage and her and her (now husband) arrived to the reception on a boat!! It was the best wedding I have ever been too!! (The wedding group took a boat trip to the other side of the island and we got to see the volcano's and walk through the tropical rain forrest. The island people were so nice and true to their word.) Sorry for going on and on I just had to share my wonderful experience there!! Good Luck!! -
We are skipping oot bags. Instead we are thinking about giving out Bubba kegs and I will tie a small thank you card on them. We plan on handing them out to everyone at our welcome dinner (we are expecting most of our guests to arrive at the resort this day) So I wanted everyone to have them in the beginning of the trip so they can use them throughout the vacation. We are also doing luggage tags as the place cards for the reception (my friend has calligraphy handwriting so she will write everyone's name and table number on the card that will be inside the luggage tag) so that will become a favor as well:) Happy Planning:)

Has anyone heard of Hummingbird Hall in Montego Bay?
delgadot replied to delgadot's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I am looking at Iberostar Rose Hall Suites. So that is interesting that they were willing to take things out of their terms and conditions that you did not agree with. So just to clarify, Are they going to cut the wedding cake so your guests can have some? and you said you have to pay extra to have more people take the golf cart tour....if you don't mind me asking, how much are they charging you for that? I would have 9 more people(my bridal party) that I want to takes pics with. I am taking a trip to Jamaica in May to do a site visit ( we have never been to Jamaica before) so I wanted to check out Hummingbird Hall on our visit, when I asked them if I could get a tour they told me I could as long as they did not have a wedding or event that day:(...so I am crossing my fingers that they wont so that I can see it for myself. When are you getting married? Are you having any entertainment...fire dancers etc? Are you using their photographer/videographer and DJ? Debating between a resort wedding and an off site wedding is so hard because we are on such a tight budget! We have 2 small kids and need to buy a house so we are trying to keep our wedding costs down!! urgh.... Thanks again! -
Has anyone heard of Hummingbird Hall in Montego Bay?
delgadot replied to delgadot's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
OMG I am so happy to finally come across someone who is utilizing this venue!! I have been debating between a resort wedding or going offsite...urgh. When I came across Hummingbird's website I fell in love! I keep coming back to it as an option. But I was so worried because nobody had heard of it and they only accept cash...so that was very uneasy to hear. There were a few other issues I am a little worried about when I read through their terms and conditions. They said they can make changes to decorations without my consent or knowledge, they will not cut the wedding cake we would have to purchase another cake for our guests? (I really don't understand this policy, so basically I would have to purchase 2 cakes, what a waste?) I love the fact that they are located on Rose Hall Estate that location is so beautiful but I was disappointed to read that they only take the bride, groom and photographer down to the grounds for the pictures. I really want pictures with my bridal party and my two kids on the beach etc. that was one of the main reasons for doing a destination wedding( the beach pictures) I am wondering if that can be negotiated? My other concern is that I would not stay overnight at Hummingbird Hall so I would need transportation from the resort to Hummingbird Hall and that would be another expense....oh so many decisions!! So sorry for the long tangine I am just so confused on what to do.... But thank you so much for responding -
What I would and wouldn't do again...
delgadot replied to gkashmira's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
WOW this thread was amazing to read!!! I read all 58 pages!!Keep them coming please!!! It is so comforting to know that I am not the only one all over the place with my planning! -
Go on Iberostar's website and look at their wedding packages so you can compare their prices. I know that a plus is that they only do one wedding per day which is rare for an AI resort. You have to be so careful with these resorts because their fees can be misleading. I was looking at Rose Hall Hilton and that is a beautiful resort, their ceremony fees are not bad but the reception costs and then to hire vendors off site is insane how much they want. I know for me the whole reason for planning a destination wedding was to save money and to have great pics on the beach:)

My mom will be walking me down the aisle and sadly like Vermontwedding I tragically lost my dad in 2008 so in his honor I will have a small memorial picture frame of him wrapped around my bouquet so that he is still walking down the aisle with me:) But I feel strong that it is an honor to walk anyone down that aisle and give them away so if you do not feel like any particular person deserves that honor then you should most definitely be the one to give yourself away!

My future MIL has not had anything nice to say either the latest complaint is that her husband doesn't like to fly but yet they have traveled more then I have.... The thing is you cannot please everyone and when it comes to your wedding day it is YOUR day so its is whatever you and your FI choose. Yes having a destination wedding does cost people money but I feel like if its what you and your FI want then those people that truly love you and your fiancee will be there! For me I have a huge Hispanic family and we have 2 small children so there is no way we could afford to have a wedding at home so a DW was the way to go for us. So not only are we going to save tons of money, we will have the best pictures, and we will get to have the people who we really want there sharing our special day! That is what it is all about! So Happy Planning Everyone!

I was thinking the same thing I have to include this in my budget and I was not sure exactly how much to give and who exactly to give too? I know the wedding coordinator with out a doubt but am I suppose to tip the DJ and photographer too? This is a good question, hopefully someone knows...

Jamaican Photographer - Marcia Roberts - THE BEST!!
delgadot replied to queen417's topic in Jamaica Wedding Vendors
Thank you so much for the review on Marcia. I am struggling to find a reasonable photographer and videographer. I had contacted Sungold as well and their work is amazing but their price is way too high. So it is nice to hear that Marcia is reasonable. I have tried to contact her for quotes but have been unsuccessful I will keep trying:( -
Chain resort versus private boutique hotels?
delgadot replied to sunsetkiss's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
This is the same battle I am struggling with. I like the small intimate feel of my wedding being at a boutique hotel but I want my guest to have the advantages of having lots to do which is what an AI resort would offer. So I am leaning towards staying at an AI resort but having my wedding off site at a smaller setting like an estate or boutique style hotel just for the day. So this way I can have the best of both....so now its trying to find that...I think I need to get a wedding planner in Jamaica to help me with this. Any suggestions of Jamaican wedding planners would be much appreciated! "I loved the fact that strangers were able watch our wedding from their balconies and were so happy for my husband and I. It was like we were celebrities for the week!" To Marne: I love your attitude!!:0) -
Thank you. NegrilB's review is where I saw that she used her own DJ and had to still pay the DJ fee. I am hoping that she had to pay because her DJ needed to use the resort's equipment. The DJ I hired has his own equipment so hopefully I would only have to pay the day pass fee...but thanks again for responding.

I came across a venue called Hummingbird Hall in Montego Bay and it looks so nice and intimate. I believe its a Jamaican house that they have converted into a place for weddings and events. You can stay there overnight or you can rent the house for your wedding day. I just wanted to know if anyone has gotten married there before or is considering this location. There is not much info on this place.

Hello everyone I have been on this site reading through this wonderful forum and getting so much information from everyone. I have a question and I am hoping someone will be able to answer me...If you hire an outside DJ for the reception do you still have to pay the $450 price for the resort DJ or can you just pay the $125 day pass fee? Â I am asking because I think I read that a bride had a friend DJ and she still had to pay the $450 for the resort DJ.... Â
