Here are a few of my favorites from our Engagement Party in DC this Spring... we did a somewhat traditional and somewhat modern Indian engagement. I was so overwhelmed with 200+ guests there! Makes me more excited to have a destination wedding! Yay!!!

My fiance and I wanted a fall shoot in Georgetown DC (because that's where we had our first date 2.5 years ago)... We ended up doing a 2-day shoot and rec'd 500+ pictures... yikes! We ended up with 100+ really good pictures, but I've just posted a few of my favorites below... so exciting! I'll also post some engagement party pictures too...

For the complimentary bridal bouquet, do they wrap the stem part with whatever color you ask them to? Should I plan to bring ribbon or a decorative piece for that if I want them to use it -- will they?

These look great! Can you share where you got the coozies made? Also, can you share the text on your welcome note? I love that it looks like a postcard!

I've been working with Katie. She's been great. We spent the past few weeks getting together our ballroom layouts for 2 events (the night before) and the reception layout... we just finalized those, and now we're onto decor (aka the fun stuff)! I'm getting a ton of quotes now, so I'll pass them along as I get them!

Terpgurl, thanks. What kind of flowers are in your all white bouquet? Are you getting that from Marvin, if so, why aren't you getting the comp one from MP? What flowers are in you BM bouquets?

Alison -- AWESOME post, your wedding looked beautiful! Thank you for sharing. So Marvin charged you $35/bouquet for your bridesmaids bouquets? It looks like they were pink roses and green orchids, is that right? He's quoting me $65/bouquet for all green orchids... What do you guys think of this... so we're doing an indian wedding, and I have a lime green and turquoise sari for the wedding and my bridesmaids are in lime green and eggplant purple saris So -- I'm leaning towards an ALL white bouquet for myself (most likely white roses and white lillies -- which looks like it could be the complimentary one from MP). Then, if I get white roses and green orchids from Marvin (at $35/bouquet) -- do you guys think that would look good? I think $65/bouquet for an all green orchid bouquet is still more expensive than what I'd want to pay, esp because they'll just go to waste after the wedding... Thoughts??

We are getting a list from our travel agent with everyone's arrival times. We want to hand deliver all of our OOT bags (whether it is us, my parents, or his parents) -- so we're hoping that the hotel will give us everyone's room number each morning so we can stop by rooms around when they get there and before they head out to the pool! I went to another DW a few years ago, and it felt so great that the bride and groom took the time to come to our room and welcome us to Mexico... I loved that so I'm hoping to do the same for all of my guests... But it could also be a logistical nightmare, so I just have to see what the resort will give us in terms of room numbers... Also, if you get a room block/discounted room pricing from the resort, 80% of your total guest count HAS to stay on the reort, and up to 20% can stay at another hotel... Just FYI.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of that terrace. We actually didn't even go into the Moon Grand section... sorry about that! Overall though, the resort is awesome! I love it and am SUPER excited to head back down there later this year!!!

Thanks Leigh! It looks so pretty! I think this one is super cute and elegant, so I'm not really intersted in overcomplicating it... everything else in our wedding is super over-complicated!! I was also debating about getting a monogram cake topper or getting a custom one made with Indian clothes... but I'm leaning towards the monogram, yous looks so cute. I like it! Also, I'm wondering if we give them flowers (from my bridesmaids bouquets) if they'll charge us to just swap 'em out, I'm hoping they won't since we already paid for the flowers.

Good to know -- does anyone know if they make custom cakes to order? Like, if we show them a picture of what we want, could they make it?

I was referring to this picture -- I love the asymmetric ribbon concept and am wondering if you guys think that'd look good on a square cake too...
