Thanks! We booked two hours, but our photographer Sol was so passionate and enthusiastic it didn't look line she was watching the clock. We went over by almost another hour! The DVD is coming in the mail and she said there are a ton more great shots on there. I'd say about 40% of the time they were doing solo shots of me! Sol told my hubby that it's the bride's show and he agreed. I'm sure your photos will be beautiful. Can't wait to see them!

Hahah thanks ladies! I am glad I had them done so I knwo I at least like SOME of my photos. Got my wedding photogs "fav" shots for my thank you card.... they are just alright. Mocha the shooting location was cool because it was all one spot! Those ruins were across the path from the beach!

Hi ladies!!!! We got our TTD slideshow back and I have no words.... I seriously almost cried! Sol from Del Sol Photography did them and I can say in all honesty that there is no doubt as to why she is one of the top ten photogs in the world!!!!!! Worth every penny (though I wish I hadn't pigged out quite so hard at the buffet in the days leading up to it! oops!) Here is the link! http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=434

I'd have liked to forgo the table numbers too, but with 50 people coming from a number of different groups of friends and family I didn't want anyone akwardly milling around trying to find a spot. Mocha I'm trying to think of a way to do that too! I am bringing a projector to show the wedding video, so since we're in a white garden tent anyway I think I might run them in a slide show. Since I'm using Mason jars in the decor I also saw a cute idea where you put the printed photos in the mason jars and set them around the reception. I already have pails with hydrangea, mason jars with windmills and the easel table numbers on the tables though so I don't know if the addtional photo jar will be too much.

Wow it has been quiet! There was a holiday here in Canada yesterday so that probably has something to do with it! I spent all weekend doing AHR stuff and got started on a lot of the decor items. I am making the mini canvas on easel table numbers that are featured on this site, so I got started on painting those this weekend. I wasn't going to do them originally because the canvases were like $8 each, but while I was at the dollar store I found the perfect size canvas packaged WITH the mini easel for $2! So if any of you are needing table #'s for your AHR's I'd suggest Dollarama.

Laura your thank you cards look great!!! I'm getting so annoyed with our photographer.... first he's 1.5 hours late for getting ready pics on the wedding day, then he gets lost on the way to the reception and is an hour late for that. Then I asked him almost three weeks ago for one photo for our thank you cards (since I won't get samples or the rest of my photos for at least two months). He gets back to me the following week saying he'd send it last week. The whole week passes with nothing so I send him a reminder. This week, still nothing so I send him another reminder. He gets back to me last night and says he'll send it today... STILL nothing. I'm all for Mexican time but COME ON! We gave you thousands of dollars at least give us one friggen picture! Sorry about the vent, I just really want to get the thank you cards ordered so we can start sending them out!

YIKES!!! You ladies are freakin me out with all this baby talk! We just got married! lol! People keep asking us when we're going to have babies, but I still want to get my career to a certain point and still want to do a bit of travelling. My FI is ten years older, so he's certainly not getting any younger but I figure if we pop one out before he's forty we'll be fine, and that gives us two more years before we start trying. Mocha I am SERIOUSLY loving that pink crinolin! What a rad idea! And Queen the colours of your wedding were so rich and gorgeous, I LOVED your table settings!

Mocha I'm doing the cupcake thing with the bigger cake so we can cut it. I'm also setting out some vintage cake stands with french macrons in the wedding colours. Since it's a brunch it might be sugar overload, but I'm going to put out take away boxes if people want to bring some home for later. I like the fluffy, messy buttercream look so that's what we're doing. Rather than get a wedding cake place to do it I'm just getting them made by a kick ass little bakery in Oakville, Then I'm going to get some sugar cupcake toppers on etsy and put them on myself. I'm also using pillow boxes filled with candy as the placecards with each person's name on it. Hubby and I are sugar fanatics so it's turning out to be part of the theme! For decor I went to Value Village and loaded up on mason jars and found this awesome blue vintage tea set I'm going to put flowers in to decorate the guest book table. I also found candle hlders and vintage plates that I'm going to make funky cake stands out of. For centerpieces I'm going to put the pinwheels from the DW in the mason jars, put rustic painted pails out filled with hydrangea (I'm ordering in bulk online and just sticking the flowers in the buckets myself) and then puting out little bud vases with one white peony in each. I'm really excited about the vintage garden vibe that's shaping up!!! Questions to throw out there: Are you doing a guest book for the AHR? Is it tacky to put out a card box for guests? I didn't for the DW and the result was everyone just carrying around their cards all night!

Wow ladies those photos are phenomenal!!! Such beautiful ladies the lot of you! I saw these prints on etsy and I know I HAVE to have at least one with our vows on it. http://www.etsy.com/listing/26963924/large-custom-canvas-photo-wedding-gift One of my darling gf's offered as our wedding gift to make us 2 albums - one of the trip and one of the wedding day and post them on blurb for other people who came with us to buy. This is perfect because she is a complete shutter bug and took over 1600 photos the week of the trip! She's also a photo shop genious which is perfect. I have the same groupon as Trista, and plan to do the same thing she is!

Grey's you AHR looked absolutely amazing... so modern and colourful and the photos are gorg!!! Kitty I think it comes down to how much you love your resort but FI and I were thinking about switching for a few days because we went for 14 nights and in the end didn't because in the end the wedding part flew so fast and was so busy that we needed the extra time! The resort was a completely different vibe for us once our party animal friends left and it was just the two of us. I agree with FI on the hassle thing... we were offered nicer rooms at the same resort for free but still didn't take it because it would be such a PITA to move all of that wedding stuff!!! I can't imagine having to haul all that stuff to another resort and settle back in. Just my two cents!

Oh wait! I forgot the day time segment... the bikinis!!!

Thanks everyone! Mocha, when is the Square one thing? I'd love to finally meet some of you! Lesee good for you for not letting drama ruin your time!!! I feel you because FI's brother put me through hell and back in the days before we left, but there was no way I was going to let him effect our time in Mex... I avoided him and his nasty gf the entire time and it worked out perfectly!! And amen sister, I am with you on the too fast need to go back thing!!!! Oh and I kinda missed out on the posting of the bachelorette party pics because we had it during the wedding trip, so I hope you don't mind if I post some now... it was an amazing night!!! Beginning of the night... Moet out of plastic cups and glo in the dark penis straws. Yup, weez classy All my ladies, including my mom and aunt who were party troopers! And... the end of the night!! Lol!!!! Asleep at the last beach bar!

YAY MOCHA!!!! Your dress turned out awesome and you look amazing!!! You both look so happy - LOVE IT!

Sorry Lisa I forgot to tell you how wonderful all of your decor and details looked! Your guests must have really appreciated all of your hard work because it certainly paid off! Oh and an update on my AHR fiasco... it all worked out even better than the original plan!!! I always said if I got married at home I'd want the reception to be under a white garden tent. Well the closest I thought I could get to that dream was the gazebo brunch, but now that the gazebo was double booked they are bringing in a white tent for me and setting it up in front of a beautiful little chapel on the property. I couldn't be happier!!! Oh and our small casual second AHR that was going to be a bbq at our place has now turned into a full blown cocktail party at a swanky lounge on King West in Toronto. SCORE!!!! I love the lounge we're having it at and told my hubby a while back that it would be an amazing place for a reception.... well turns out my hubby knows the owner so yay! Cocktail partay it is!! Thank goodness for the two AHR's cause otherwise I'd have some serious post DW depression.

Lisa your video is awesome!!! Such a great investment to have that reminder of your day!! May I ask which company you used? I used Cancun Wedding Video and they said I won't get my video until the end of the month! So now I have no pics and no video for a while!

Wow. Wow. Wow. Teira your pictures are stunning!! You must just be so thrilled!!! We won't be getting out pro ones for months, though to be honest I don't know how great they'll be. I am however super stoked to see our TTD pictures by Del Sol! I should have a preview link to share soon! Lisa your day looked beautiful and I loved your hair!

June 18th! I just got off the phone with them AGAIN, and they are saying that we can have a meeting room there... ya cause we totally want to have our wedding reception in a tacky MEETING ROOM??? It says right on our invites that it is an OUTDOOR Champagne Brunch Reception. And the manager is STILL avoiding my calls... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Sorry to be a downer during so many happy times, but I got an email from the planner at the venue for my AHR, for which we've already sent out invites, informing me that one of their secretaries accidently cancelled my event and gave the space to someone else!!! AHHHHHHHHH so frustrated!!! I've been trying to get ahold of the manager for the past few days but he's avoiding my calls!!!!! I just don't understand how they can run their business like this!
-
Here are our Vista Invites for the AHR... We included the word "intimate" as a way to say "you weren't invited to the DW cause we kept it small"

They tried a few weeks before the wedding to tell me that I would have to pay the guest pass fee for each of the people that came with Planner 1. I threw a complete fit because I had asked the Barcelo for the flower and decor options like 8 months ago and they NEVER sent them and that is why I went with an outside planner in the first place. After my tantrum I didn't have to pay the day passes, which is good because they came with a big crew and I'm not sure if I would have had to pay a pass for each of them or just one for the planner. So we saved a lot of money going the Planner 1 route (the chairs were $2 per piece cheaper, the huppah $150 cheaper etc.) While Grecia, our WC was a complete sweetheart you definately get the impression that they do not like you bringing in any sort of outside vendor and our vendors got some attitude. OH MY that reminds me... if you are bringing in an outside photog BEWARE! While everything I had read before me said that the Barcelo photogs will harass you for the $300, most brides seem to have been fine to pay after the fact. Well I did get 3 harassing phone calls from the photogs the day before the wedding, but I was so busy I figured it would be fine if we waited until after the wedding to go pay. WRONG!! They held our photog at the gate and wouldn't let him in until my DH went down to the front desk and paid the $300!!!!! This not only made our photog over an hour late by the time it was all sorted out, but it completely stressed out my DH before the wedding because he was running around trying to sort it out when he should have been relaxing with his GM's!

We had the strawberry Passion package. It is the least expensive option if you want your reception to be in a beach or grill instead of a banquet hall. I would choose the location as soon as possible and nail it down with Victoria because it is first come first serve and I don't want you to be dissapointed. They do receptions at coral beach as well but it is quite small there so your group would have to be around 50 people or less I think. Are all of your guests staying at the Palace? I can't be sure since I didn't use Coral Beach but if they are staying at the other hotels on the property they may have to pay a pass to get into the Palace and therefore Coral Beach, but I'd definately check with your WC on that. There was no extra charge for my bouquet - as I mentioned I was really not picky about my bouquet and saw the white flowers I used in one of the binders in the wedding office once I was there (which worked out well because the white flowers were native to Mexico and I'd otherwise never have seen them). I wanted some colour mixed in and love hydrangea so that's what they did for me and I was thrilled. I go tthe Huppah from Planner 1 as well because it was cheaper than the resort by about $150 or so. We had our ceremony at 5pm and sunset was 7 pm so like you we had 2 hours from the start of the ceremony until sundown. The ceremony started a bit late we did end up feeling a little rushed, but we also had to get ourselves, our guests and the wedding party to the reception location on the other side of the resort which took time. Looking back though I don't think I would have changed the timing, only because the earlier in the day you go, the hotter it will be for your guests roasting on the beach! Phew - sorry for the long reply!!!

Thanks Everyone! We used Ivan Luckie as our photographer for the wedding and Del Sol for our TTD session. We also got the Huppah from Planner1 - It was cheaper than going through the resort and the netting is included. I'm not sure which flowers you mean - We got some throught the resort (my bouquet and table centrepiece) and the rest through Planner 1. In most cases, they can pretty much do whatever you want so long as the flowers are in season. If there is something you really want I suggest sending the pics to whomever you plan to get them from in advance to find out if what you want is available or if not if the florist will order it in for you. I sent the pics of the bouts and bm flowers to Planner 1 in advance so she could order what I wanted. For my bouquet and the table flowers I was less picky so I just worked it out with Grecia once I got there and was very happy with how they turned out. Hope this helps!

Aww thanks Avens! If there was one thing that wasn't perfect about the wedding, it was the wind. It was VERY windy. Though to be completely honest once dinner got underway we barely noticed it! That was the advantage to having the reception at Palmeras beach rather than Playa Azul, while Playa Azul is more private, the sand there is finer and more prone to blowing around. At Palmeras the sand is a bit grainy, so there was no issues with that whatsoever. With the microphone we were still able to hear everyone's speeches etc. and once the dinner convos started flowing it's like we all forgot about the wind entirely! I am 100% for a beach reception despite the wind. I couldn't imagine having our wedding any other way.
