  1. I am about 130 lbs and 5'5 . The zipper is on the side. Hope that helps
  2. Hey Kary, Hows it going! As for the the things I have bought so far, I have my centrepieces, ( even though I am still on the hunt for a skinny vase that is easy to transport 12 of them actually) , I bought my runners, which I did look into the site you gave me but they didn't carry table runners. I found them at Efavormart for $2.29 a piece. I bought black ones, and a few ivory ( for my home) and a few red. The red is not the proper Red I am looking for though, I need it a little darker, but no big deal,I only wanted one of those anyways for the guest table, so I will look around more . I bought dark red rose petals for the aisle, I have my ring pillow and bought from etsy ( where I purchased many of my things) It's really cute, burlap with black ribbon and a red flower . ( I think you know though my colors are red and black and white ) I bought my guest book , well used all of my engagement photos and got a hard cover leather book made with lots of my fave love quotes and got it made at Costco. I bought these sparkly diamonds to put on the black runners on the reception tables and just a ton of tiny votive holders to hold tea lights , I want a very romantic feel so the more tealights the better! I bought about 20 fans ( kinda a black with white hearts on them ) to be placed sparingly on the ceremony chairs for those to need/want them. Once I have all my pictures together, maybe I will email you my vision. I feel kinda all over the map here. That is great news about the open bar, I am estatic as well about that ! Perhaps I will send her an email soon just to have that in my correspondance ! Keep me posted. Where do you live Kary? Michelle
  3. Hi Ros64, Congrats on your upcoming wedding! As for the chair sashes , They do have some colors avaialable, but not a huge selection, same with chair sashes. I don't know the colors they have because all I know is they didn't have what I wanted. All the linens provided are white. I bought my satin table runners at Efavormart.com for only $2. 29 a piece and they are great. HOpe this helps!
  4. Hey Kari, Can you email me the sheet that Adrianna sent you? ( 20- 64) Do you have the private areas sheet that explains all areas and the max capacity? That's the one that says 70 max , and then I was going through my emails from Sakura in July and she told me 80 Max after she talked to the coordinator!!! So I am confused, but I would like to see what she had sent you if you don't mind. [email protected] I spoke to Adrianna about the menu last week and as of then , the 2012 was not ready yet ,but she did tell me she would inform me when they were available. With the drinks at the Baja Norte, it is my understanding that ANY private event you have to also include the $15.00 pp open bar fee. I could be wrong, but from my understanding , the wine, pop, beer option is only available to the semi private locations. I haven't heard of anyone having their reception at Baja Norte. It would def be nice to know though! HOw is everything else going with your planning? Last week, I got my satin table runners in the mail and they are super nice ( for $2.49 a piece ) !!! I bought black ones. I also bought my wedding shoes last week ( some glittery Jimmy Choo Heels) EEk, so nice! I had to splurge on them since I got my dress for so cheap ( my rationalizion anyways) I have most of my decorations bought , just have to pick up a few more things. I also am having some programs made ( but am going to wait until closer to the date in case bridal party changes - already lost one girl that got pregnant ) And also , the menu cards that I will do closer to the date as well. Keep in touch. Michelle
  5. Hey Kary, I have a question. I was talking to Adrianna about the Baja Norte and she told me that the max number was 60! On the sheet I have from the resort about all the private events , it says 20- 70 for the Baja Norte. Did the numbers change do you know? I decided that I am not going to agrue with her now because we only have 52 booked, but I am worried that we will have a few last minuters book and bump us up past 60. Have you talked to her about the max capacity? I also talked Sakura several months ago and she also told me 70 and possibly 80 could fit, I do have all of my email correspondance. I think I will wait until I get there , just in case its' not even an issue, but it makes me angry how inconsistent things are sometimes . Let me know what you know! Michelle
  6. Hey Crys, I think I may have asked you about the DJ earlier, but can you elaborate a little more on him. Did he speak english well? Did he get the crowd going? What kind of music did he play? Can you give him some music to play? We are from small town Alberta and I like country music and was wondering if it will be difficult to get him to play some of the popular country two stepping songs? Any details will be greatly appreciated ! Did your guests dance a lot? Thanks Crys xo
  7. Thanks Crys!!!! So happy to hear from you ! Can't wait to hear your next post!
  8. Thanks Michey! Looking forward to it ! I can't believe it's almost November!!
  9. Hey Ladies , I have the perfect dress for your rehearsal dinner reception! I bought it but have since found one I like better. It's a 'Jordan Fashions" Little white dress , style #A275. I paid $250 plus shipping! The tags are still attached and has not been taken out of the clear bag it came in. It's a size 4. If you need size guidelines, I recommend you go to the ' Jordan FAshions' Website and check their sizing charts. It's very beautiful and perfect for a warm beach night! $175 in Canadian $$$
  10. Kary, Thanks for the info on the runners, I will definetly check that site out , as the special event rental places here charge $7.00 per runner, and I am not sure if it's more if I keep it for the week as I wil need to !. With regard to the bows, I have heard that , yes, they do just switch them over to the reception venue for you. I know they only have certain colors so make sure they have the color you need or you will prob have to buy some and bring down. I think I will just take advanteage of the the white chair covers and keep it at that. For centrepieces, it was defintely racking my brain too! It's hard to visualize without seeing anything! Another bride told me on here that the Walmart down there is a little dated , so just keep that in mind, I am sure you will find vases there if needed, but I wouln't rely on them for many things just in case! I think I am goin to do two long stemmed roses ( one white and one red) in a skinny vase with some black ribbon. I did find an excellent store here in Edmonton that carries very real looking silk flowers ( as a matter of fact, I have some in my home, and most people comment on what a wonderful man I have for having such nice taste in fresh flowers) I even keep them in water to throw people off. With paper lanterns, if you know your venue, make sure to ask Adrianna , because I emailed her last week and she told me that paper lanterns cannot be hung in the Baja Norte becasue there is no room, so just keep that in mind before spending the money! I like the idea of the paper bag lumanaries ( just google it on google images ) if you haven't heard of them . I was going to do them as well, but for the Baja norte , I think it will be overkill, she sent me a nice pic of the reception set up and I dont thnk they are needed now. Have you heard from Crys yet? I am waiting to see how her wedding went!! I keep checking on here soo often!!!! talk soon!!
  11. Hey Kari, For the rooms - for our options there is an oceanview room which is basically a hotel room, and the next step up is the junior suite which has a few steps going down into a living type area with a couch. It costs about $100 extra I believe. For the table runners, I will just see how much it will cost to rent them for week and get one of our guests to return them ( because we are staying our second week at Dreams) Flowers- I like your idea of mostly white and a few red ones , since I am not using orange anywhere else in the wedding! Thanks I am still undecided on the photographer, Marcels work looks great, I may hire someone that my videographer recommends now, so many decisions to make, its stressfull wondering if you are making the right ones being so far away!! Your centrepieces are beautiful~! How do you plan to get the vases down? just bring in your luggage? Or purchase when you get to Cabo? I don't have a rehearsal dinner set up, I tried to contact the coordinator a while ago and she told me that they would contact me a few months before the wedding. I'm hoping that is something we can do when we get there. Did you get a sheet regarding the rehearsal dinner? Because I don't think I have any info, can you send it to me if you do have something? P.s I heard the fusion resturarant is a good choice for rehearsal dinner from a previous Riu bride. I am such a nerd right now, on this site super lots to get ideas , keep me posted , I'm waiting anxiously for Crys to come back on , I want to see how her wedding went ! Are you bringing any paper lanterns or anything? Do you know if they supply any? talk soon!
  12. Hey there, I am hoping that some past Riu Palace brides will able to help me out . I am getting married the Riu Palace in the spring and can't decide on location for reception. We know we want a private reception. Initially I liked the Baja Norte, then I saw a picture of the Baja Sur and don't really know the difference between the two. Anybody know? Also, now I am leaning towards the beach reception with the wooden dance floor. It looks so romantic . Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also have a rowdy fun group coming down so I want the place with the best dancing area!! Thanks everyone, and pics would be awesome if anyone has any of their previous weddings!
  13. I was up in the air about doing this , now that I have seen a visual, I love it ! Anyone know where to buy the fugi camera in Canada? I know amazon sells it but I think I had a problem ordering from there before from Canada. Thanks!!
  14. Hey Kari, I haven't booked Marcel yet for the photography as I have just convinced my fiance to hire a viedeographer that I really really wanted. I will wait a little while before pushing the envelope What are his rates? I did peak into his work and it is definetely fab!!! If it is similar to the Riu rates, I may just have to book him. As for centrepieces , I am going to bring down some black runners for the white linen and have some 5x7 frames of our engagment photos , some vases with one or two long stemmed real looking fake flowers as well. You can insert an image by clicking on the icon above this area where you write ( you will see a little colorful house icon) and that is the ' Insert Image' I was going to bring my own bridesmaid bouquets as well, but I think I will just bite the bullet and get those from the RIu , I am not the most crafty person even though I thought I could be. I did some flowers to get started but I am just going to return them and pay $60 per bouquet ( I will need 3) Can I have your opinion on flowers? I am doing black and white for the groom and groomsmen and cherry red dresses for the girls, with my dress, I want Red roses ... For the girls do you think I should go with white roses ( to keep it formal ) or go with Orange flowers to make it pop a little more in the pics? With the booking of our guests, we have a travel agent, and I just skipped SAve the Dates altogether and just sent out our invites super early with all the info on the invite , including our wedding website that I had made , so guests were to just contact our travel agent directly and that was that..... We had a certain number of seats up until Sept 30 reserved ( for hotel and air) and just waiting to hear from her with more seats to be realeased. You can check out my wedding website if you like : www.pashkoWedding.com I am waiting to hear back from her with new seats so it is a little outdated! Keep in touch!!
  15. Hey Leahnv, Yay, so excited that you booked SDML!!! I cant wait to see pics. Its just beautiful there!!!! For my wedding colors , I am doing black, white and my bridesmaid dresses are Cherry Red. I was thinking formal black and white , but now I am thinking I might throw in some orange flowers for the girls because I Think it will pop!! We will see. I have 4 right now , but one may or may not be prego ( they have been trying for a long time) so I might have 3. Time will tell!!! The videographer is pricey - $3000 for the base package which is pretty much your 5 hours of service, on top of that you have to pick a finished product which are : a) 3-4 minute highlight video $500) or b.) I think 30 minute wedding film for $1000 . So , in total either $3500 or $4000 depending on what package you decide. We went with the $3500 package, he told us if we decide we want the full video later, we can decide after watching the highlights. Keep in touch with your planning and ideas!! Michelle
  16. Thanks Ladies, I guess I was blind!!
  17. I posted my dress a long time ago but now I have a pic of myself in it as well as the model .
  18. Hey , I went on Etsy to find these , and they are no where to be found! Can you see if the seller is still there and get back to me? They are cute and I want them for my wedding as well!!
  19. I am biased, I will pick #2 because that is also my dress !! Let me know what you decide. Any pics with you in the dresses at all?
  20. Hey Leahnv, I convinced him!! Yay! I am so excited !! I just contacted them this morning to put down my deposit ! How is your wedding planning going? Did you decide on the Sunset Mona Lisa? if so how is the planning going? how many bridesmaids are you having? What are your colors?
  21. Hey Kari, I too, am still trying to figure out a photographer, I think I may look into Glez as well. I like his style. I really really really want Cinematic touch to do our wedding videography but am having a very hard time convincing fiance ( extremely $$$$ ) but I keep telling him its the one thing that matters the most to me because some of our close fam and friends will not be able to make it and I would love to have a keepsake from our day - especially because so many brides say that your day flies by and you miss and forget some of things that happen. I will still try to convince him. If anyone has any advice on what to say to him, please help!!! Leahnv, I have looked into the Monalisa as well when I first got engaged and it was WAY out of our price range, its a beautiful spot though if you decide to go with it. Kari, I also booked Suzanne Morel, I don't think you have anything to worry about , I have seen many previous brides pictures and they always look fab! Everyone is entitled to their tastes ! Keep in touch!! Have you decided what you are doing for centrepieces or are you purchasing the flowers from the RIu once you get there?
