I have a question for those of you that rented the speakers and sound system for your ceremony and/or reception. Who managed/played the music? Does someone at the resort handle playing the music (technician, WC, etc.) or will we need to assign that task to a family member or friend? We are going to use our ipod.

Hi ladies, How many hours before the ceremony did you OR are you getting your hair done? My ceremony is at 4:30pm. The manager at the salon recommended that I schedule my appointment at 1:30pm because of the humidity in Mexico. She said if I get my hair done too early it will not look good at the ceremony. I am more than likely going to have an updo hairstyle. Thoughts? Experiences? -MaromaBride

Ok, what I have recently learned from my TA is that the rates the resort offers do not include all government taxes (only hotel taxes). The Mexican govt. tax is an additional $145 pp, payable to the hotel upon check out. -
I'm worried about the rates in April as well.

I will let you know when I find out more. I'm assuming the rate they gave you is for the mi hotelito suite, right? -

My TA emailed me today letting me know that he can find better room rates (through his wholesalers) than the rates the resort offers, even with the 20% discount. Therefore my guests WOULD NOT be getting the best rate available if I book a block of rooms at their rate. Hmmm....Something to think about -

Gail, Did you have a put a deposit down for the room block? How much? Also did you have to sign a room block contract with the resort? Do you know the name of the new beach restaurant. I haven't seen it listed or advertised on their site, I guess b/c it is new. I wish their sites (El Dorados & Karismas) had more pictures of the resort! -Tila -

I'm considering having my wedding ceremony at 11, followed by a lunch reception. I like the idea of taking an excursion later that afternoon (maybe a catermeran cruise). I think I will also have a welcome cocktail reception the day before. With this schedule I'm not sure what to do in the evening since we will have already had a lunch reception. I think I can reserve a table (or tables) at one of the restaurants for dinner. I think I will have a beach wedding. Valeria told me that to have the ceremony on the water gazebo would cost $500 extra. Whoa! I checked out silk flowers at this website, which was posted in another thread: Realistic Silk Wedding Flowers, Natural Touch and Silk Bridal Bouquets Gail, if you don't mind me asking, around how much is air and hotel costing your guests? How many days are most of them staying? Any staying as long as you? -

My mind keeps jumping from thing to thing. I have so many questions and concerns. I've done research too, so feel free to ask me anything as well! I'm so glad that I found this forum and future Maroma brides! I don't feel alone anymore! :-) Gail, is this what you are going to use for music: Amplifier for private events IPOD & Microphone connections. (No CD). 4 hours. $250 Is the microphone separate?? -

Thanks for sharing!! It helps! Kat, do you know what time you want your ceremony? I'm considering an early ceremony, making my wedding an entire day thing. Plus, I want to wear my dress as long as possible :-) I've read about silk flowers in other posts and think that is a good idea for the BMs. Do either of you know if there are still those long, black sandbags in the water? I noticed them in some of the pictures I've seen. How do you feel about them? I don't exactly like how they look. -

Ladies, Which hotel suite are you booking for you and your FI? Any particular reasons why? I like the swim-up and the infinity pool suite, but I'm not sure how much we'll use the swim-up or the infinity pool. -

Hi Kat! What made you choose EDM? Just curious. :-) The WC I have corresponded with the most is Valeria Martinez. She normally responds to my emails within 24 hours, 48 at the most. You should hear from her or another WC soon! BTW, I too think the dj rate is high. -

Gail, Are you going to play music during your ceremony? If you are, how did you arrange that? What about at the reception? Are you going to have a dj or are you putting together a song list? Dance floor? :-) -
I'm getting married at EDM in April 2011. I have only heard great things about this resort, especially the food and the beach. My TA told me it has a better beach than Royale. It also has awesome guest reviews on tripadvisor.com. I'm really excited! I'd love to hear from someone that has gotten married there! I've seen wedding pictures online and they look great!

Gail, Thanks for the update! Which wedding package did you choose? I'm undecided! Any advice? -
Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm so excited!

No one wants to pay more than they have to (including me) but when part of the appeal was discounted rates for a large group booking - you kind of expect them to follow through. We'll see how it turns out and if they modify the pricing. Congrats on the dress fitting! That's exciting! And I'm sure - an eye opener on what areas to work on! :-) Do you know who DW books the rooms through? For example, funjet vacations. Just curious.

How's your planning coming? I've been back and forth with Valeria to finalize some of the details for the private dinner. I had to order my invitation last week and needed some of the details for dinner, time ect. My ceremony is set for 4 pm, so i have this pretty big gap of time to fill between that and dinner. I went with the "pick and choose dinner option" which seemed to be the most reasonably priced option considering it is an all inclusive resort. About $35-40 per person plus 20% off with the promotion. still hurts the budget a bit, but a better price than a reception at home will cost. I have read on other forums there is a "set menu option" that is more reasonably priced but was told this was the closest thing to it. Valeria confirmed Sobores could be used for our dinner reception, but they will need to re-evaluate if we can reserve it in a few months to see if the resort capacity goes up. Also talked to her about a sunset catermeran cruise for our guests. It's an hour and a half sunset cruise out of Marina Maroma for up to 100 people , completely private. Include drinks, appetizers, a mariachi band and a welcome cocktail. Waiting on the price for 40 people. Still gathering info on DJ and Photographer, it looks like there is only a few that they allow you to choose from regarding photographers, but I can't seem to find any reviews on any of them. For the DJ they give you only one option at $1500 for 4 hours. But I think Maroma is the perfect place for a wedding and even if all these details fall apart it would still be amazing. I don't think we could have picked a better resort! Hi Gail! I was reading back over some of your old posts and am now wondering if you have the same plans? Dinner still at Sabores w/ the pick-and-choose dinner option? Will it be private? Is your ceremony still at 4? What time is your dinner reception? Were you able to set up a sunset catermeran cruise for you and your guests through Valeria? I'd love to more about that! Sounds fun...do you have a link for it? 1 more before I overwhelm you with questions: Which photographer are you going to use? Thanks, Tila
