  1. Thanks Tris Until I found Paper Stories, I never thought we could afford letterpress either. All of the quotes I got out of Toronto were ridiculous! Kelly charged less for 2-colour letterpress than 1-colour quotes I was getting. A very, very lucky find!
  2. Here's a link to the post on the invites: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/71644/my-gorgeous-letterpress-wedding-invitations#post_1579507
  3. I am a lover of all things letterpress, so when I started sourcing out designers for my dream letterpress wedding invitations, I was disheartened to learn there were none in Calgary, Alberta, where my fiance and I live. Luckily, I found Kelly of Paper Stories (on Wedzu!) and we were able to work together to create the wedding invitations I had dreamed of! Our wedding is taking place this summer in Los Cabos, Mexico, and I really wanted to create something that would create excitement for our friends and family that are coming all of that way. These invitations embody everything I hope our wedding day to be: colourful, organic, rustic and vintage! Kelly designed and letterpressed our yellow and grey invitations, and designed the labels for the envelopes. She sent my the files for the wrap labels via email, and I added all of our guests addresses in In Design. I printed them on my trusty home printer (an Epson Stylus 1400). I knew I wanted envelope liners for the outer kraft envelopes (the envelopes are from Paper Source), so I started searching the internet for decorative paper. I found this paper at Hollander's, a decorative paper and bookbinding store (yay Google!). The print is called NQ Print Shells. I cut out the liners for all 80 invitations by hand, and then I came to a standstill as to how to bundle them. I love the look of bellybands, and luckily found a loose burlap garland (it can came in a roll of 10 yards) at Michaels Craft Store. I cut the pieces to size, hot glue gunned them around the invites, and then glued a small Kaka Muthu shell to the centre of each. Lastly, I ordered custom stamps with images of our wedding artwork created by Kelly, and spent many, many evenings after work assembling them! They were a labour of love, and I am ecstatic with how they have turned out! 4. Hey everyone! I FINALLY got my wedding invitations over the weekend, and have been working on them to no end the last few nights. Here's the finished product!!!
  5. For Neysa, did you use the form off of the website or actually email her? When I used the website form, I never heard back from her, but she responded pretty promptly when I emailed he ([email protected]). FYI she makes you put a 50% deposit down via Paypal to book. But I think her prices are pretty reasonable! Good luck, and congrats!
  6. I agree with Nat: Linds, everything looked gorgeous! It was great to see everyone last night!
  7. My FFIL booked our venue as soon as we picked our wedding date (it's a week after we get back from out honeymoon)...about 11 months in advance.
  8. Boo....sorry to hear you're feeling stressed out so close to your wedding, Azadeh
  9. Hey everyone Just a reminder that our meet-up is tonight! Here's the details: When: Tuesday March 29th, 2011 Where: Una Pizza + Wine (618 17th Ave SW, on 17th between 5th and 6th Sts) Time: 6:00 pm See you later! Natalie
  10. Really?! Magdelena has been fairly prompt responding to my emails! Do you still have all of your correspondence with Mariana? I have kept every single email, that way my quotes from Mariana need to be honoured by Magdelena. I wish Mariana was still there too
  11. Oh man I haven't even started to think about my AHR, but I suppose I should, since it's only a few weeks after our DW, which keeps getting closer and closer! Thanks for forcing me to think about these questions!!! 1. Budget: My FFIL is footing the bill (venue, food, bar, band). My FI and I have set aside $3000 for decor/flowers/invitations. This is not included in our overall wedding budget. 2. Type: Our AHR is going to be a fun, whimsical, casual affair. It is taking place at the reception hall of my FFIL's church. I think it's starting around 5pm, and there will be dancing into the wee hours of the night (my FI is Ukrainian, so it's going to be a BIG party!). 3. When: Our AHR is 3 weeks after our wedding (one week after we get back from our honeymoon). 4. Food: As stated above, it's a Ukrainian fiesta, so there will be tons of food, buffet-style. 5. Clothes: I was actually surprised how many brides HAVE decided to wear their wedding gown to their AHR! Of course, I don't blame you, who wouldn't want to wear it again?! I, on the other hand, will NOT be wearing my dress. I truly want the DW to be a special day, and that's a huge reason why my FI are getting legally married in Mexico (bloodwork and all!); and following suit, I don't feel right putting my dress on again, because it's just a party, NOT a wedding. I plan on picking up a cute white cocktail dress for the AHR. Not sure what my FI is planning on wearing! 6. Invitations: I've actually just decided on invites! A awesome design company we found on ETSY is doing a custom illustration of us in our wedding attire, on the beach, and printing them out on 5x7 cards. We aren't doing formal rsvps, just phone/email. 7. Photographer: Nope. I have a pretty awesome camera, and will delegate the duty to one of my BM's, like I did for our very formal engagement party a few months ago (hosted by my parents). 8. Cake: Nope. Not a wedding, no cake! We're trying to have a real homestyle, down country feel, so we're doing a homemade pie/dessert table. 9. Decorations: We're keeping it casual. Low vases/mason jars on long tables with flowers, burlap table runners, etc. 10. DW Photos: YES! Our amazing, AMAZING team from Floataway Studios is cutting a 5 minute video of our DW so we can show it to our guests. I'm SUPER-excited about this part Ok, it's a work in progress! But it was great to get it all down on paper!!!
  12. Here's mine! Badgley Mischka "Dreamy": 4 months today and I'll be wearing them!
  13. So excited ladies! I FINALLY bought my wedding shoes this week! Had to share!!! Here they are: I picked them up at Shoe Craze on 17th Ave (in the same plaza as Ethos). If anyone still needs wedding shoes, I highly recommend it! The shoes there are gorgeous!
  14. Ok AWESOME ladies! Next Tuesday, March 29th it is! See you then!
  15. Awesome, 2 Yes repsonses, Star and Nat, just let me know if you're free, then Ranjini can come too!
  16. Hey all! Was going back through the posts and these are the people I have confirmed for next Wednesday: Star18 MissNatalie18 Lindslou CanadianSandy If you ladies are able to switch to Tuesday (I'm open!), then CookieMunchkin will be able to join as well. Thoughts? Nat
  17. I'm flying in a photographer, but I have a friend who used Fer Juaristi, and the photos were fabulous!
  18. Hahaha my FI laughed at me this morning when I made a similar remark ("I'm all wedding-d out") while we were registering! I wish I could fast forward the next 130 days to the wedding. I'm looking forward to being a wife, and not a bride!
  19. lol yes, this is the hardest part. You might want to consider the fact that BECAUSE you are having a DW, which is untraditional, you CAN choose an untraditional song! You're getting married in Mexico, with a backdrop of the beach! How do you think something traditional (like Canon in D) will fit in with that? If you think, awesome! then go for it. If not, just pick a romantic, sentimental song that you like. I'm considering Sam Amidon's "Wedding Dress."
  20. Apparently I cannot type! I should have wrote - that's exactly what we've asked our DJ to do. Our wedding is in July. We're bringing him the playlist. We're creating a list of approx. 20-30 minutes of music to play while guests arrive and get themselves seated, we then have a song for the bridesmaids to come down the aisle to, and then finally one for my Dad and I to walk down the aisle to. We'll then choose a song to walk out to (something upbeat) and then another 10 minutes of music as guests leave and make their way to cocktail hour. We're still figuring out what the ceremony is going to look like (what traditions/readings, etc) we want to include, so we'll see. We're still finalizing the details as to what songs we'll be playing when, but our musical taste is pretty eclectic (we're into indie-folk) so that theme will be carried throughout the wedding.
  21. That is exactly what our DJ. I can't remeber how much he charged, but it was less than the hourly rate.
