  1. I sent a pre-travel brochure that indicated "beach chic attire" was appropriate, very similar to what the other brides have indicated above (pants, blazers, dresses, etc).
  2. Here's what I have planned for the wedding day: Something up and loose - it's going to be sooooo hot, I need to have it up. We're doing a next day session, and I'm going to wear my hair down like this:
  3. It actually has nothing to do with the shop you buy from, and everything to do with what designer you purchase from. Two dresses from the same store ordered at the same time from different designers could arrive months apart. I ordered mine from Cameo & Cufflinks, and it took about 7 months. Star, I'm surprised S2 said 4-6. My second choice dress (Lazaro) was going to take around 8 months to get in. Ginny, you'll have to ask whatever store you purchase from if your designer does rush orders. It's usually around $500 dollars extra (pretty steep). Cameo & cufflinks is having their floor model sale right now, and there are dresses that literally just came in and have only been tried on once or twice that are on sale from 30-50% off (I was just there for my fitting on Thursday). Also, if anyone needs a bustier, I got one from C&C that was originally $90 for 70% off (came to $26!!!!). Unbelievable. I was going to buy one from Knickers and Lace for $200!
  4. Thanks I heard that, too. I think I've single-handedly been keeping Canada Post afloat this year with all of the invites, thank you's, etc I've sent in the mail!
  5. I JUST ordered my buri fans from www.beau-coup.com yesterday. The medium ones are $1.75 each. They're also having 15% off if you spend over $99.
  6. I've been handling all of the details with my WC at the resort. I am also a control-freak
  7. Also, I just booked my Sunset Cruise (a welcome dinner for our guests, and a little thank you from the B&G!) through Cabo Ecotours. The website is www.caboecotours.com Only 43 days to go! Natalie
  8. You'll probably want to look at direct bookings rather than a TA (contact WestJet & Air Canada for group bookings). I opted to go without GB or a TA, and all of my guests booked via Expedia for approx. $500 less than the GB rates! Natalie
  9. Hey July brides! Here's a link to the pre-travel brochures & luggage tags I made: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/73949/my-pre-travel-brochure-luggage-tags-with-pics-templates Natalie

  12. Congrats Faye! I'm getting married at Dreams Los Cabos next month. Ultimately, you and your FI will have to set a budget that you are comfortable with, and stick to it!!! Here's a breakdown of ours. 1. Cost PP for dinner: We went with the Ultimate Package at Dreams, which cost us $2800. That includes dinner for 20 guests, so the additional 16 people in our party will cost $70pp. Here is a link to the Dreams Los Cabos wedding guide: http://www.dreamsresorts.com/drelc/plan-your-wedding.html 2. If you want to get married on a beach,a n you're getting married at an AI, that shouldn't cost you anything! 3. Wedding Photographer/Videographer: We opted out of the photo/video Dreams offered us in the package we purchased, and they gave us a $500 credit that we used towards our florist. Our photographer and videographer are a husband/wife team, and the cost of their services was $5000. That includes 8 hours of day of photo/video, a disk of high res images (30 favourites and the rest colour corrected), three copies of the full movie, a day-after session that they threw in as a gift, and a $500 credit towards our album. We are flying in our team with us, so we also had to pay for their flights, accommodations for three nights, meals and rental car. Those extra costs were about $1500. 4. Our flowers cost $1500, less the $500 resort credit, we're paying $1000. That includes my bouquet, four bridesmaids bouquets, grooms boutonniere + groomsmen boutonniere and FoB & FoG, 2 corsages for Mob & SMoG, 2 huge altar arrangements, and all of our centrepieces. Decor I would have to add up, because I've ordered tons of of Etsy, and just buy random stuff all of the time (ie. candle lanterns from Z Gallerie & Urban Barn, reclaimed barnwood frames for table numbers, burlap fabric for table runners, cake topper, burlap just married sign, and so on). I would say we've probably spent $1500 on additional decorations. 5. DJ is costing $1250. That includes 4 hours of music at hour reception, plus ceremony music. 6. Hair & makeup were expensive. For trial H/MU, day of H/MU and day-after session H/MU, it cost $600 with gratuity and tax. I would say altogether with our stay over the 10 days at Dreams, our flights, and all of the wedding costs, we are spending around $23000. Costs not mentioned already: attire for bridesmaids ($1000), attire for groomsmen ($1000), bridesmaids and mothers of B&G gifts ($1000), groomsmen and fathers of B&G gifts ($1000), welcome sunset boat cruise for all guests ($1000). I hope this helps!!! Natalie
  13. I believe I paid $180 for custom (with shipping). That's too bad they're on holiday!!! TG I ordered super early
  14. Fabulous! I'm also getting married in Cabo (next month, at Dreams) and we booked The Westin for our photographer/videographer. It is such an elegant hotel, you must have taken lots of gorgeous photos!
  15. Absolutely STUNNING! I also chose Alvina Valenta! First fitting this Thursday!!!
  16. Hey everyone! After a lot of LONG hours, self-teaching myself how to use In Design, and many, MANY drafts, I finally finished (and am REALLY happy with) my pre-travel brochures. I wanted all of my stationary to co-ordinate (go here to see my wedding invitations: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/71644/my-gorgeous-letterpress-wedding-invitations-lots-of-pics), so I opted to design the brochure myself rather than go with something off of VistaPrint. My brochures were designed and printed by ME, and all of my fonts and graphics are consistent with the rest of my wedding stationary. I purchased the kraft envelopes and cream paper from Staples and the wrap-around labels are the same template on In Design that my stationary designer sent me. The luggage tags would not have been possibly without the help of another Calgary bride (BeachBrideSoon), who sold me her extra tags. I whipped up a simple document with pictures of Los Cabos on InDesign, and again, used the same fonts (which are Jane Austen and Mrs Eaves Small Caps). I laminated the luggage tags at work, and my FI and I put everything together in an evening. A last minute addition we made was the "Pack This" lists, that I picked up at Chapters. I'm super-excited for my guests to receive these in the mail! Next task = wedding programs. Stay tuned! Natalie Brochure Front.pdf BrochureInside.pdf Luggage Tags.doc
  17. Sandy, why don't we do the 14th instead? Nat does that work for you too?
  18. I just got them last week. I asked them when I bought them, and they said it was just something "seasonal" they got in. It was a total random find!
  19. Congrats ShawnaRochelle! Our wedding is also taking place at the gazebo, although we've opted to have our reception at the Oceana Pool Terrace rather than the Cascade Terrace (we're only having around 35 guests). Like some of the other ladies here, I was also planning on having a dual legal/symbolic ceremony, but we've just opted to get legally married in Canada first. In as much as we had our hearts set on getting married legally on July 27th, we could not justify the cost (Dreams was charging and additional $350 for legal ceremony, plus bloodwork $220 per person, plus the cost of getting Apostille Birth Certificates $700+). Altogether with getting the documents translated when we got back, all of the additional paperwork and an additional $2000 cost, we said forget it. So we're now going for symbolic only, with the ceremony being conducted by Rev. Marco. Natalie
  20. Sounds good Sandy! Tuesday June 7th works for me as well. Anyone else in? We can definitely do Una, it's delicious! There's also a new pizza place that opened in Inglewood that's suppose to be great too (called Without Papers, where Nectar use to be). I'm game for whatever.
  21. It's just all the cost wrapped up together. We have one of the ceremonies paid for in our package, but because we wanted a dual legal/symbolic, we have to pay for one separately (so $550). Plus blood work when we get to Mexico is $220 x 2. Then we have to get our Apostille Birth Certificates, so first we have to order long form birth certificates from the government ($60 each) then send them in to a company to have them certified ($250 plus fees for each doc x 2). So that's $1610 USD. The problem was we didn't know exactly how much it was going to get the Apostille Birth Certificates. We knew it would be $250 "plus fees" but when we found out they needed to take them to the Mexican Consulate in Ottawa, I told my fiance to forget it. Way too complicated!!!
