  1. Thanks for the welcome Pam! Â I actually had a date change to be able to include a few more guests (my brother included!), so we've switched to July 27th, 2011. Dreams was super-accomodating, thank goodness! Â I'd love to meet up with everyone sometime!
  2. JaimeLe yor ring is beautiful! Put your camera's setting to "macro" to get better pictures (will be more clear - and sparkly!)
  3. Chancey9 your dress is gorgeous! Very similar to a Jenny Lee I loved but was out of my pricerange Â

    Newb :)

Thanks Michele! Everyone on here is so awesome!!! I don't know what I would do without these forums (planning would be beyond difficult!). Â
  5. Thanks MysTea! I NEVER expected mermaid/trumpet style to be so flattering on me. I thought I would look better in princess/a-line but they were terrible!!!! I need a dropped waist at least, but LOVE fitted past the hips. You never know till you try! (and then sometimes you do and wish you didn't, lol). Â
  6. Janine, I had a wedding dress try-on extravaganza day on Saturday, and finally got to see the Lazaro in real life. It's hard in Calgary, being a small city (about 1 million people), each boutique is basically "exclusive" to a designer. So the one that carries Lazaro (S2 Bridal) is the only store to see that label. So on and so forth for other designers (Alvina Valenta at another, Priscilla at another, etc). Â I haven't bought it yet. I'm from Toronto, so my mom and sister are flying here over the next few weeks to check out dresses with me. It's lots of fun shopping with my girlfriends but I absolutely need my mom and sister to seal the deal (not to mention my mom is the one buying the dress - Thanks Mom!!!). Â Funny enough, every other store let me take pictures. I have a crappy iPhone photo of myself in Dress #2 which I'll post when I get home. They both look great (and make me feel great!) but I am no model in size! Curvy size 12 girl! Â
  7. Thanks ladies! It figures that the first dress is from the one store that wouldn't let me take pictures!
  8. I will Lisa, thanks! My mom is flying to visit me next month so I'll decide then (need her stamp of approval before I make the decision!) Â
  9. Your dress is beautiful! Love the soft sweetheart and ruffles Â
  10. Your dress is gorgeous murmel! I really liked a lot of the Pronovias gowns in the 2011 "Dreams" collection (such great prices!)....but none as much as the Lazaro! Â
  11. Janine I haven't taken a look at La Sposa but I definitely will! The thing I love about the Lazaro is that there is NO BEADING, NO RHINESTONES, etc....everyone keeps trying to put those (really pretty) rhineston belts on me and I keep saying no embellishments! I don't think all of the detailing suits a beach wedding, either! Â
  12. Hahaha I was acting like a flmenco dancer in the store yesterday shouting "Ole!" so I concur! Â
  13. Â Here's my GORGEOUS Tacori ladies! 1.5 carats of sparklyness!
  14. Thanks for the input, Lite! It's funny, I tried on waaaaaaaaaaaaaay poufier dresses by Pronovias, and the ladies at the store kept saying "Are you sure? For a beach??!!" like I was crazy! I had to explain I'm not getting married in the sand (soooooo not me!) but rather in a gorgeous gazebo in a garden overlooking the ocean. It screams "Mexican fiesta" to me! Love the second one too...dreamy and romantic and flowy. Decisions, decisions! Â
  15. Thanks for the tips ladies, I'll check out BoxPaperScissors and Plush...I've just started shopping around!
  16. Hey Nat! Â Your post definitely caught my eye...my name is also Natalie, I'm also from Toronto, and I've also relocated to Calgary (albeit that was two years ago!). I hope that all of your wedding planning is going well, and that you've settled into Calgary over the last few months, and aren't missing Toronto too much! Calgary takes a while to grow on you, but there are lots of amazing people in this city so I'm sure you'll end up loving it! Â How's the planning going? Â Nat
  17. I already found the perfect man, and now I'm on the hunt for the perfect dress! Â I think the style fits our Cabo wedding perfectly...ladies let me know what you think!

    Newb :)

Thanks everyone! I was dress shopping all day yesterday...so overwhelming!!!
  19. Hi y'all! Came across this board and thought I would pop in and say hello! I'm a recently engaged Calgary bride, getting married at Dreams Los Cabos on July 13th, 2011! Very excited! If anyone has any advice to offer, that would be amazing! I look forward to getting to know everyone!
  20. Wonderful review, makes me super excited for my own wedding next July at Dreams! Â My biggest question would be with regards to your group booking. Did you book directly through WestJet or did you go through a TA (like Flight Centre, etc.)? We're having a HUGE issue with group bookings right now in that WestJet, AirCanada etc have a Dreams promo right now (it's Dreams that is offering the promo) but requires that our guests pay in FULL by January 7th! We think it's ridiculous! Who pays for a holiday 6 months in advance?! So we're in the position that we're not able to book until after this promo falls off. How was your experience booking? Did you look into a room rate and seperate flight prices as well? Our guests will also be flying out of Calgary and Edmonton, and Toronto as well. Â Any info you have would be amazing! Â Natalie
  21. We decided a while ago to put aside all of the reviews from Trip Advisor....I truly feel like the majority of people that go on that site are just there to complain! Once I found this forum, I was completely sold. Brides are very VERY picky people, and everyone seems enthralled by Dreams. I'd still like to convince the fiance to try and make a trip out if a seat sale comes up (flights from calgary are a bit expensive!) but if not, it'll be a big surprise when we get there, which is fine by me  I have a girlfriend who went to a DW in March at Dreams Tulum, and she was soooooooooo excited to hear I booked at Dreams. She said it was amazing!
  22. That's great news! I'm not sure if you're looking into someone in the Mayan, or if you're planning on bringing in a photographer, but if you are bringing someone in, I HIGHLY recommend Floataway Studios. My wedding is July 13, 2011 at Dreams Los Cabos and I've booked with them (photo and video). They are based out of LA and are available for travel worldwide, at very reasonable costs (their packages are also very reasonable). www.floatawaystudios.com
