  1. Ok ladies, as some of you know my intial theme was "Mexican Fiesta" (see: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/64439/my-mexican-fiesta-inspiration-board#post_1447636 ) After choosing a softer, romantic, flowy dress instead of something that was a little more, well, fiesta (http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/64313/i-think-i-found-the-one/60#post_1477397), this is what I have come up with as our new wedding board. Please let me know what you think!
  2. I'm just curious, what does everyone have on tap for groomsman/FI wear? This is what we are thinking for the groomsmen: And for my FI:
  3. Lo I love your chargers! Are they from Dreams, or did you bring them?
  4. I got an email back from Mariana today and she wrote that the colours are: chocolate, natural wood, white, silver, and gold. Perfect, as we'll go likely go with natural wood. I can't believe how fast it's coming around! We pondered going down for a site visit, but with numerous trips back to Toronto for various wedding related events (my hometown; we live in Calgary) it isn't in the cards. There is soooooo much on the internet and on this site, so as I much as I'd like to, I don't think it's necessary. What about you?
  5. Thanks Kristen, I emailed Mariana a few days ago with about 10 inquiries, so I don't imagine I'll get back from her for at least another couple of days! It's always faster just to ask on here! I'm glad to hear they have brown, ad that will work!
  6. I know Linds, they are WAY overpriced (online and regular store) but they should have some good deals at the outlet! Other than that you might have to wait until December/January, you'd be surprised but a lot of stores start getting spring/resort wear. A few years ago I went to Australia in mid-Jan (their summer) and I managed to find heaps of stuff at Old Navy before I left (around December).
  7. Linds, your best bet is Tommy Bahama (www.tommybahama.com). They ship to Canada, and also have an outlet at CrossIron Mills. Good luck!
  8. Lol I love that responses are still coming in! Thanks ladies, I'm super-hapy with my Alvina Valenta (dress #2)!
  9. Great ideas ladies, thanks! I think we're going to do a tequila tasting night for our welcome party, but I think cigar rollers are a wonderful idea!
  10. I agree with those that said that you cannot compare photos from an actual professional photographer, as compared to a house photographer. They are just two entirely different styles, and the quality/style/experience from an actual wedding photographer is beyond that of what you would get with an "adventure company photographer." FYI - Mariana is giving us credits to use towards other services for the wedding in lieu of the house photographer/videographer, and a few other services we won't be using from the Ultimate package, as we'll be flying in our own photo/video team from California. A note to any brides out there thinking of flying in a photographer: California has a very, very talented pool of photography studios, and it is VERY cheap to fly them in and accomodate them for your wedding. We are from Calgary, Alberta, and are flying our photographer and videographer (a husband/wife team) from LA for three nights, staying at the Westin for $1000 (flights+accomodation). We then paid for our photo/video package on top of that.
  11. Congrats Sarah! I'm getting married at Dreams only a week after you on July 27th! Happy Planning
  12. Does anyone know what colours they provide (the actual chair - gold, silver, wood, white, etc)? Do they have different colour cushions? Thanks!
  13. We would love to have some sort of entertainment for our guests at the reception. I've read in the forums that many have had fire dancers, but this doesn't seem very...Cabo. Any other suggestions?
  14. I've looked through the forums and have noticed that lots of brides are recommending two particular makeup/hairstylists. If you could post pics here of what your hair/makeup looked like on your wedding day, that would be wonderful!
  15. Hi all! Can anyone recommend a stylish florist in Cabo? I need someone that has a vision and also has good selection....I've seen a lot of pictures of mums, roses, etc...looking for a bit more tropical. Let me know your recommendations!
  16. Ok ladies, the decision has been made, and deposit put down on the dress! The winner is...dress # 2! The Alvina Valenta! In as much as I LOVED dress # 1, I could not, not, NOT bring myself to buy a dress that I could not try on (I am a street size 12, and the dress was a size 10, so street size 6- and it would not fit over my hips. Also, it was quite heavy! My mom was in town this weekend, and it came down to the Alvina and a beautiful lace Romona Keveza fit and flare gown. My mom LOVED the Romona, but said my face "lit up" in the Alvina, so that made the decision easy! It's flowy and romantic, and I think it suits my personality more. Here's a pic of me in it!
  17. Ughhhhhh Ethos was terrible when I was there! Went with two of my bridesmaids, booked the appointment a MONTH in advance, when I got there, they had no consultant to help me! just bought my dress with my Mom on Friday at Cameo & Cufflinks. First place I ever went dress shopping, about a week after I got engaged. Brandie pulled the dress I ended up buying, NEVER would have tried it on without her! I recommend C&C to anyone looking for a dress (especially if you're lucky enough to get Brandi as a consultant...I've had others there that were NOT as helpful).
  18. lol. Best. Response. EVER. So, so true. If only it were the case! I wish I could have someone do my hair, makeup and follow me around taking gorgeous photos all day! It's very true. Anything goes when you're the bride!
  19. Congrats Mel! I'm just getting married a few days before you! Maraiana is also my coordinator, and has been fantastic so far Destination wedding = best decision we ever made!
  20. Congrats Lo! Post pics soon! PS - That is too funny about your brother
  21. lol that's hilarious! People will try and make a business out of ANYTHING! I don't know how comfortable I'd be letting anyone but myself handle the paperwork on my own name change...
  22. Erica, I usually wear my hair straight, too, but wanted something a little different for the photos. Stylist did it with a straightening iron (twisted pieces around)...I really loved the way it turned out! Looks like you might have a winter wonderland for yours! This weather is nuts! Our shoot was suppose to be today and I changed it beacsue I figured the weather was nice, why not? Best decision ever!!! Linds, you are too sweet! Thank you! Janine, i heart ee cummings too! We used a quote from him on our wed-site, and it's something I'd like to use somewhat thematically throughout the wedding. Do you have any pics of your programs on here? I'd love to see them! Only a few weeks to go for you! So exciting!!!
  23. Hahaha that was a last minute decision...I was getting my hair cut & coloured the night before, and my stylist convinced me to come in so she could make it pretty!
