  1. Cookie I would really , REALLY advise against taking glass over there...I tried to bring one of my sister's centerpieces back to Calgary from Toronto and it broke I can only imagine if I had taken more than one (my luggage would have been full of glass!)
  2. Are any of our Calgary brides having their wedding atthe Grand Riviera Princess? What's the story there? Are they closing for renos, etc?
  3. Emm that is NOT acceptable! My wedding is in July, and Mariana is getting back to me in two business days.
  4. Alex thank you for the review!!!! Lol after going through your photobucket images, I feel like I was there You're a great photographer, by the way! I loved all of the detail shots! Quick question: I have never been to Los Cabos, where were all of the pictures with the colourful buildings (you were off the resort). Was it Cabo San Lucas, or San Jose Del Cabo? We're doing a day-after shoot, and would love to hit up some of those spots!
  5. I'm getting married on July 27th, so Mariana needs to have final numbers one month prior (June 27th). I am going to make my RSVP date June 1st. So for you, I think January is a bit early...I would say the earliest your RSVP date should be is March 1st. Hope this helps!
  6. lol this post made me laugh, laugh, laugh! My FI and I have a set budget for the wedding, so FI basically said, ok, you said you will spend this much on x, so if you want y, it has to come out of somewhere else, which I think is pretty fair. It's made me think outside of the box, for sure! All of the little things, I take out of my own stash (Etsy, I love you too much)...the things my FI would NEVER understand!
  7. We're paying for our bridesmaids dresses (4 bridesmaids, Amsale dresses ranging from $275-$350). They are paying for their alterations, jewelry, shoes, makeup, hair, etc. We are going to buy them a small gift (cute silk robes I found on Etsy). We wanted to try and minimize the cost because they are travelling for us, etc. We're also paying for groomsmen attire (Pants & Vest from J.Crew) and buying them cufflinks as a gift. So all in all, about $3000 budgeted for wedding party costs.
  8. Thanks for posting! My FI and have been looking for something unique to add to our Symbolic Ceremony in Cabo!
  9. Ooooo this one's a toughie....in as much as "times have changed" I cannot imagine my parents NOT paying for the dress. This has always been the expectation, as they were always the ones who said they would. When my parents were in town a few weeks ago, they DID buy my dress. However, this is the ONLY contribution they are making to the wedding, as my FI and I are paying for everything else. If I had to pay for my dress myself, I definitely would not have been looking in a different pricerange, and would not have ended with the dress I got, and love Thanks Mom & Dad!
  10. I used tons of stuff from The Wedding Chicks for my sister's wedding in August! Here are some photos: The first picture was the wedding program I made for my sister. You can see its flipped open a bit, and there is a crown graphic. That's from TWC, and was on every page of the program. The next picture was another graphic from TWS that I modified in good old Word to change into Candy Tags for their candy table. The last picture shows the candy table.
  11. Not much on the Dreams Brides front lately...any weddings coming up? Anyone have any info to share?
  12. Very, very sad news...my thoughts and prayers go out to the families involved.
  13. Great idea ladies! Any former brides out there, please post your pics!
  14. @nheche - gorgeous, reminds me of the one I intially liked!
  15. lol I'm beginningto secong guess myself! It seems everyone loves the first! I've picked the second one, ladies!!!
  16. I'm glad those suits are such a great inspiration to everyone! Natalie, for Groom's suit (jacket and pants) plus pats and vest x4, with tax and duties it comes to about $1500. They have regular 25% off sales, so it should come to about $1100 all in. Not too shabby
  17. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay wedding! Have an amazing week Boo! Can't wait to hear about everything when you get back
  18. Nat, the suits I posted the pictures of are from JCrew, and are only available online. JCrew does ship to Canada, and these are the Cotton Ludlow suits. The pants are $118, the vest is $98, and the jacket is $248. We're getting the pants and vest for the groomsmen, and the jacket and pants for my FI. They often have 25-30% off sales PLUS deals on shipping, so I would wait until one of the promos come on if you are interested in ordering from them. We're also buying everything for our groomsmen and bridesmaids, and also have four couples...a HUGE expense, but we just sort of saw it as they're making an even bigger one by travelling for us. With shirts and ties, it'll be about $300 a groomsman. And I just found the most beautiful Amsale bridesmaid dresses! My FI is going to kill me
  19. Trust me Kristen, if I could convince my FI that a site visit was necessary, I'd be down there in a heartbeat! But, since he basically put it to me that if we did go down, it would have to come out of our budget (therefore taking away $$$ from somewhere else) I had to nix it Luckily, I have this site, and brides like YOU to calm my nerves! Hurray! Glad to hear Dreams was everything I hoped it would be!!! Lo, so you're selling those chargers? PM me and let me know the price, I might take those off your hands. If you already have someone buying them, can you let me know where you bought them?
  20. It's so exciting actually having a concrete vision and now getting to piece everything together! The hunt begins
