Congrats! I would suggest hitting up The Wedding Fair next Sunday @ the BMO Centre next Sunday. Many of the vendors there will be selling off the rack. Good luck!

Oh Ladies! I'm in the same boat! We're getting married in Cabo, and have been getting everything under the sun with regards to comments: It's going to coast how much?! Couldn't you pick somewhere closer for us? (this is from our Toronto guests, who are shocked that they will not be able to fly direct with most airlines). You're getting married in Cabo....in July?! (I'm a teacher, not much flexibility here people!). The most surprising has been my sister and her new husband (she just got married in August). She has criticized my FI and I for picking an "expensive" resort that puts the cost onto guests (everyone is free to stay off the resort!). Ultimately I think it's resentment towards the fact that she had a huge, expensive wedding that she dug herself and her husband into a financial hole to do, and is upset that it all seems so "easy" for me. Sigh.... PikiBride, I have heard MANY similar comments (Acapulco beheadings, hotels blowing up in the Mayan, Italian hit jobs in the Mayan, etc, etc, etc.), to which I have reiterated, the crime in Cabo is less than most major American cities. My BF is also pregnant right now (due in March) and is one of my bridesmaids. She is not bringing her baby (it will be about 5 months) as she also said the food/water is not safe. Ummmm, it's a five star resort!!!! I'm sure they filter their water! We're not staying in the slums of some village! Try to stay positive my dear! -
Post your bouquet and inspiration pics here
proti007 replied to EDYTA's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
This is the bouquet that Lola @ Florenta in Cabo is re-creating for us! Love it -
We're also bringing in our own photographer, although not from our hometown. We live in Calgary, and are flying our photographer/videographer from Los Angeles. The proximity of LA to Cabo made this the logical choice (cheapest flights from closest major city) as well as having the most talented pool of photographers in North America. We are using Floataway Studios, which is a husband/wife photography/videography team. We paid for their flights, accommodations for three nights, a daily food stipend ($60 for both), and rental car (as they are not staying at Dreams with us). They gave us a fantastic rate because they love any opportunity they have to travel, as well as doing a day-after session with us as a wedding gift. I chose to go with outside photography because I wasn't happy with the style of photography that any of the vendors in Cabo provided, and am so excited to be working with the studio I chose!

Nat! Don't stress! My mantra through all of this is that it's a DW: it's not suppose to be stressful. Regardless of what happens, everything will be beautiful! We used Wedding Window for ours, which is so comprehensive. It gives you options for like a million pages (at least 50). You can check mine out here: www.gregandnataregettingmarried.com On another note, we FINALLY got our invitation sample in the mail today!!! Damn USPS mail! They look gorgeous! So happy I decided to go with letterpress

This is so, so true. Doing weights from the get-go when trying to lose weight is critical! I've started back at the gym this week and am doing Body Pump classes twice a week...my quads are still burning! I'm going to try RPM classes this week, too (spinning class)...a good cardio workout that really gets your heartrate going also helps continue to burn calories, even after you're done! Keep up the good work ladies! Day 3 and I already feel better!

Any Wynn Brides out there?
proti007 replied to JaimeCF2BR's topic in Destination Weddings in Las Vegas
I'm getting married in Cabo, but stayed at the Encore last Spring (Wynn's higher-end property). It is FABULOUS! We had such an amazing stay. It is visually stunning, you will not be disappointed! -
KarenM's Planning Thread!
proti007 replied to KarenM's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
LOVE: the place card tiles, your gorgeous legal day dress (i heart j crew!), your boudoir photo gift (wowza girl!!!! you look amazing!), and your sock-monkey cake topper!!!!! So much inspiration -
We're using Floataway Studios for our photography and videography. We're flying them in from Los Angeles for three days over the wedding-week extravaganza! If you want to use someone local, you should look into Fer Juaristi....many of the brides on here are cult followers (his pics are amazing!).

Thanks for the encouragement ladies! I started my healthy eating routine yesterday (I've cut my calories to about 1500 a day; lots of lean meats, veg and fruit), and have started going back to the gym since the new year started (Body Bump, Body Attack, and RPM classes, along with a good dose of the elliptical). I'm in pain now but I'm sure I'll feel better once those inches start coming off!

Hi Teira! I'm having mine at the Oceana Pool Terrace (we're anticipating about 50 guests). Apparently it's a little more private, and your party won't feel like it's "lost" in it's surroundings. I would have loved to use the Cascada Terrace, if we were having a larger party. They're both gorgeous choices.

My girlfriend had a similar issue with her Mom, where her mom wanted to walk her down the aisle along with her dad. She couldn't say no, so she had both walk her down, but really she just wanted here dad. She never spoke up about it, though. I think it's amazing that you've already broached the subject, and regardless of what anyone (including your dad) thinks, it's your big day! My dad just asked if we were planning on having Greek music at the wedding in Cabo, and I was like, uhhhhmmm, No! That's the point of having the big, Greek engagement party in Toronto (to make sure everyone on my side feels included) and the big, Ukrainian AHR in Edmonton. The wedding is for us, and we'll play the music we like to listen to. My sister b**ched afterwards that i should be more accomodating, but I told her just because she compromised everything she wanted for her own wedding (which she did, and agrees) doesn't mean I should, too. My dad was fine with our decision! Off topic, has anyone done bootcamp? I'm looking at Survivor Bootcamp (Spring session, maybe April/May) and am wondering if anyone else has put themselves through the torture, and if they had great results? I have a ways to go to look the way I want to before 10 days on a beach (plus a two week honeymoon in SoCal!).

I have gained and lost and gained and lost so many times that I am going to try something completely different this time: I am bot focusing on weight, but rather on inches. I would like to lose: 5.5 inches from my bust 5.5 inches from my waist 6.5 inches from my hips I anticipate that will be at least a 40 pound weight loss...sigh. I'm disappointed I've let myself look this bad Moment of self-pity, I apologize! My wedding is in about 27 weeks, so that's about 1.5 pounds a week (not an astronmical amount, by far!). Some milestones to reach my goals: My engagement party (February 20th): I'd like to be down about 15 pounds by then, or a dress size. My bridal shower (May 1st): Another 10 pounds My wedding! (July 27th): A slim, toned beach goddess who feels comfortable flaunting a bikini!!!

The best part about getting Cabo-themed wedding favours, in Cabo, is not having to pack them! I can't believe all of the airlines have started charging for a second bag! Arggg!!!!

We do love our chit-chat!

I've booked Neysa Berman for myself (trial, wedding day, and TTD) as well as wedding day hair/makeup for my four bridesmaids and MOB/SMOG. She responded really quickly and her prices are very competitive! After looking at Suzanne and Neysa, I found Neysa's portfolio to be a bit more contemporary (she does high fashion shoots and is a MAC trained artist). Hope this helps!

Oh, what a great idea! I'd love a place to discuss that cultural aspects we're bringing to our wedding (Greek & Ukrainian!).

Is anyone else having two wedding bands?
proti007 replied to jcruzin76's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
This is a fantastic idea! -
Wow Teira it is expensive, but the weather is going to be fantastic!!!! There is a reason April is high season - because it's gorgeous!

Hmmm that's interesting....where were we before?

I just have to share my jubilation: My FI and I have FINALLY booked our tickets from Calgary to Cabo, our nights at Dreams, and our honeymoon flights! Wooohoooo! AND....we got our nights at Dreams for $138 per person/night! HOLY WOW! Thank you TRAVELOCITY.ca!!!!! We got quoted $185 from Mariana, got $157 from Flight Centre, $152 from Expedia, but Travelocity takes the cake for the rate! I love those little gnomes :)

OOT Bags - Anyone DISLIKE???
proti007 replied to proti007's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I totally agree with what many of the brides have said on here. I think OOT bags are an amazing gesture and show guests how much you care, and in many instances provides them with something that they may not have thought to bring. On the other hand, I am happy to hear from those brides who've decided not to do OOT bags - it makes me feel less inadequate not doing them! -
Thanks for the tips ladies! That is DEFINITELY something I will keep in mind once I'm at the alterations stage (likely not till June or so). My sister got her dress at a fancy-pants bridal store in Toronto (Pearl Bridal House) and her alterations cost $500 (this was to add cups, take in slightly and bustle). It sounds like many of you got much more extensive alterations done for a much better price (not using the alterations provided at the store). On another note, I am jubilant that the hair/makeup artist that I wanted for my wedding is available, but not happy that she is charging an arm and a leg! $655 (including tax and tip) for trial hair/makeup, day of hair/makeup, and TTD hair/makeup. Definitely hadn't put that into the wedding budget!
