proti007 replied to Mssanders111111's topic in Weight Watchers Forum
That's awesome!!!! Congrats 10% is a BIG deal...I've been dying to step on the scale all week to see if I've made any progress, but am waiting until weigh-in on Wednesday! How long did it take you to lose the 10%? -

Legal Wedding Before Destination Wedding... =(

Yay congrats Linds!!! -
Yes! Glad to hear someone else having success with Expedia. I just wanted to add one thing: my FI and I used Expedia and Travelocity to book our own trip (Expedia for part of the flights, and Travelocity for the 10 days we'll be staying at Dreams, as we're flying from Calgary to Cabo, Cabo to San Diego and San Fran back to Calgary - it was impossible to book as a package) and our WC asked for our booking number right away, so she could upgrade us from our Junior Suite to the Honeymoon Suite. I have found my WC and hotel to be super-accommodating, so never forget to ASK FOR UPGRADES!!! The worst that they can say is no

Lily, this is very interesting information (with regards to different bracelets, inferior rooms). I've never heard of this before! Regardless, we're staying at an all-suites, newly renovated resorts that does not have bracelets (thank goodness! I've seen pictures of brides on here that are wearing their bracelets on their wedding day! lol fluorescent orange!).

I am going through a very similar experience: Our guests are flying out of three different hub destinations (Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto) and received quotes from both Air Canada and Westjet in October. The rates from both carriers were quite high, much higher than a site like Expedia/Travelocity, and only a $100-$150 difference between their listed rates. The problem that we had (and continue to have!) is that our resort (Dreams Los Cabos) has placed an "early booking bonus" on the package. Well, one would think that this saves money (which it does, about $300 per package) but required quests to pay in full by January 7th. We declined the rate, and said we would start shopping again in the new year. We've now received our new rates (which are dollar for dollar the same as we got in October) and there is a NEW EBB on there from our hotel (which would require our guests to pay in full by the end of February!). The rates that we were able to find on Expedia/Travelocity are between $250-$300 less than our group rate, so we have suggested that our guests go forward with that (as they would have to pay in full in 3 weeks if we went forward with the group booking). It has been a giant headache. So to sum up, for us, we've decided to have our guests book on their own and find their own rates and deals, rather than locking them into a group rate.

Thanks for the words of support ladies! This is only my first week on WW, and I like it so far. I've done many ridiculous diets in the past (namely the Dr. Bernstein Diet and Atkins) and the thing I like about WW is that I do not have to cut out any foods. I can eat whatever I want, BUT am accountable for what I eat. Yesterday a co-worker brought in lunch for me as a thank-you for a favour I did for her, and it was Lamb Korma and rice (my favourite Indian food!). I ate it, and enjoyed it, but suffered for the rest of the day because I had used so many of my daily points! The other thing I really like is that you ARE NOT ALLOWED to set your long term goal from the strat. They make you hit 5% and 10% weight loss before you can set your long term goal. It's nice to look forward to small goals, like a 5 pound, 10 pound, 5%, 10% weight loss. It is overwhelming to think I need to lose about 50 pounds to be in a healthy weight range for my height (I'm 5'10, so my weight should be between 139-172). I'm trying not to thing of this in terms of "oh no my engagement party is in 3 weeks" or "I want to be this size by my bridal shower" or "my wedding is 6 months away" and just live it instead. I want to make this a lifestyle choice, so that a year from now, I'm able to pick up and take a holiday and not be worried about wearing a bathing suit! Ok, that's my rant for now. My meetings are on Wednesdays for WW, so I'll post my weight on Thursday mornings for those that want to follow along. I'm excited to see those numbers on the scale go down!

Weight watchers for brides of 2011
proti007 replied to Mssanders111111's topic in Weight Watchers Forum
WW recommends a slow, healthful weight loss, which is between 1-2 pounds per week. Rapid weight loss (anything more than 2), you'll just gain back. I can attest to this, as I was on Bernstein for 5 weeks last year, lost 19 pounds, and gained it all back plus 10 -

Hi everyone! I just joined WW today! So excited I really want to commit myself to a shift in my eating habits for good, not just a temporary diet! -

Post Here if You Are Getting Married in Cabo!
proti007 replied to ACDCDCAC's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
Hi Teira! I know, those photos are gorgeous! We have an unlimited time for our day after session...our photogs are super-sweet, and are giving us the session as a gift. We're just going to go bum around for the day and explore. I have no idea where those photos are taken (those are NOT the photographers we're using), but I would assume it's Lover's Beach. Your best bet would be to take a walk to different locations on one of the first days you get there, and see what catches your eye! Our photogs are from LA, so they aren't familiar with locations...discovering it together should be fun! Natalie -

Legal Wedding Before Destination Wedding... =(
proti007 replied to nmurch's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Linds, this was all our WC's idea! Basically, we'll do the bloodwork when we arrive, send all the paperwork required beforehand, then on the day of, we'll have our symbolic ceremony (what I view as the actual marriage!), and then the judge will say a few words (in Spanish), we'll sign the paperwork, and we'll be husband and wife! Then we'll have to get everything translated when we get back, which is super-easy (according to our friends who got married legally in Tulum earlier this year). -
Share your ceremony script!

I have to echo a previous bride, every time I think I have found the ultimate from BDW, something comes along to top it. Wow. I had not thought about what my ceremony would look like. All I have to say is: Hand ceremony. Balling my eyes out reading these. In front of my computer. Yes, I am a loser. Omg, I love it. So, so, SO beautiful people! -
Legal Wedding Before Destination Wedding... =(
proti007 replied to nmurch's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We were having a lot of issues with this before as well (first we wanted it to be just us and a JP, then my FFIL suggested us doing it at his church, then my parents were like, why their church and not ours, etc, etc, etc)....SO we've actually decided (with the help of our amazing Dreams WC, Mariana) to legally get married in Cabo on the day of our wedding (what a thought!) while having the symbolic ceremony as well. So we'll have a judge, and a Reverend, and our own vows, and it will be legal, and we'll get everything we want! Who knew?! -
Don't worry Marissa! 6 months is lots of time! What are the big things left on your to-do list?
-
Ok this is going to be a big one! First, my Save the Date's, ordered from the lovely ItsMelC (digital file only). These are from our e-session: Next, our guest book, from brooklynbookbinder. It matches our theme perfectly! The hanger that my lovely sister/MoH bought me as an engagement gift (mine says "Bride"), and is my something blue, from DawnsCraft: The flower I'll be wearing in my hair on the big day, from UntamedPetals: The gorgeous papel picados we'll be running over the dance floor (the lanterns are set up in a square, and these will go between, from aymujer: We're using A LOT of burlap for our wedding (I'm making burlap table runners!) and found this adorable banner from victoriastation: I'm SUPER excited about this one! I just got confirmation from lollipopworkshop that she CAN make our CUSTOM cake-topper for the wedding! Ours will say "Love Sweet Love" and will look just like us on our wedding day (matching dress and suit!): Along with purchasing our BM dresses for our girls, we just wanted to get them a little something to express our gratitude for coming all the way to Cabo. We're buying these robes from prettyplumsugar to get ready in (I saw these originally on StyleMePretty, and LOVED how they looked, so I hunted them down!): Last but not least, our STUNNING, LETTERPRESS invitations!!!! I actually found them on Wedzu (Wedzu is just like Etsy, but JUST for weddings!). My designer, Kelly, also has a Etsy shop, paperstories. She has completely customized the colours, papers, everything for us, but this design is similar, so it'll give you a taste! As you can see by now, I am an Etsy-holic! I'm sure there will be many, MANY more purchases to come before the wedding Happy Etsy hunting ladies! (and don't forget to check out Wedzu, too!). Natalie

Hi ladies! I'm just wondering if there are many July 2011 brides out there in Cabo?! There is a HUGE thread going for the June brides, and I wanted to start one for us, too! Post here if you're getting married in Cabo in July! It's going to be muy caliente! I'm getting married at Dreams on July 27th. Mariana is my co-ordinator (she is amazing!).

A question for all of the Calgary ladies...is anyone LEGALLY getting married at their destination, or is everyone getting married here beforehand?
-
lol that's so funny that everyone is missing their e-rings right now! I feel your pain. Mine was gone for almost 2 weeks before the holidays getting sizing balls put in. Glad to have it back The second works fine by me! I got my invitation samples, which I'll be sure to bring! Hurray!
