  1. My sashes look a bit more "aqua" than your picture... but when I tried to take a picture to show you, my picture looks exactly like yours. Whats up with these trick sashes that photograph a different color than they really are?!? lol Your sashes definitely look a bit greener though... I agree with islandbride, I'd ask to have them switched. Not your fault if they are not displaying the right color on their website! In one of the reviews on their site, someone else made a comment about display pictures not being the right shade too
  2. Not doing a father-daughter dance, but for different reasons than yours. I agree with some of the ladies who have suggested doing the father-daughter dance at the same time as the mother-son dance. If you'd still like to keep it even shorter, maybe ask your mom and FI's dad to cut in after the first minute or so and then each couple can finish the song together? It would be a nice way to include your mom and FI's dad as well.
  3. You were the reason they were out of stock and I couldn't order turquoise sashes that day!! haha jk I love knowing that we paid so little for these (basically 43 cents per sash). Thanks soooo much Robin for sharing this link that day!
  4. I ordered the turquoise overlays (and a bunch of other stuff), but mine looks very close in color. Wondering if maybe they sent you the wrong color? I was less than impressed with the chair covers I ordered though. They are thinner than I expected (chair color shows through if the chair is dark).
  5. 14th sounds good! I'll have the car that day, so I should be able to get anywhere! Anyplace with parking, haha
  6. sign up for the Michael's newsletter! You'll get another coupon every week (can print out a bunch and go every day... or visit multiple stores in a day haha)... sometimes they are even 50% off! I refuse to ever pay full price for anything at that store, markup is ridiculously high.
  7. It sucks you had to deal with all that!! Props to you for making the best of a bad situation though. And thanks for sharing this with us... after seeing one of your earlier posts I was ready to contact her, but now I'll stay as far away as possible.
  8. www.linentablecloth.com. Free shipping (even to Canada!!) if your order is over a certain amount! Just make sure you click on "Canada" in the top right corner when you get to the site or you might have trouble checking out.
  9. I agree with Andi. Its still so far that people may not know what their finances or job situation is going to look like at that time. Dont worry! Maybe let everyone know that you just needed an initial RSVP to work out group rates, etc and that you need a proper RSVP and confirmation sometime in the first part of 2011. I know I personally would not be able to commit to a trip so far out so its very possible thats how your guests are as well. If it helps you any with your planning, all of our guests booked (on an early booking group rate) about 5 months before our wedding.
  10. Question for those of you who have already been to DT... What goodies are already in the room when you arrive? I'm buying things for OOT bags right now, but dont want to waste money on things that may already be in the room anyways (sewing kits, bath products, etc). Anyone know?
  11. Oh no! I had that same problem... until I saw the "Canada" link in the top right corner of the page. It was very easy to miss though. You basically have to go through the "Canada" version of the site to order from here. When I googled them, I noticed they have discount codes really often though... maybe sign up for their mailing list and use a discount code for your next order? I'm going to be doing that for some of the items I wanted that were out of stock... free shipping to Canada cant be beat!
  12. I'm so jealous!! I paid almost $200 in shipping to Calgary last week. Stupid me forgot about Cyber Monday and ordered a couple weeks ago. Should have waited...
  13. The only thing I can think of that would make this complicated, is that you probably wont be with all your guests until you get through security and are at the gate. And if thats the case, you will probably have way too much stuff to be able to take through security as carry-on luggage. If you're going to wait for your guests and check in all together, that may work... but honestly, I think it would just be too stressful! You should start relaxing the second you arrive at the airport Can your bridesmaids help you deliver the bags before you leave? That way you dont need to drive around to 100 homes.
  14. We're going to distribute as many bags as possible before we leave (drop by people's houses that live in the same city as us) and will take the rest with us. We have only half as many guests as you, and the thought of carrying everything down with us was stressing us out big time! Its those damn mugs that take up so much room lol.
  15. sending you a PM for the pashminas (and badge holders if one of the other people change their mind!)
  16. unfortunately no... the sales on that site usually only last for 48 hours and then they are over . If there was a way I could delete this thread now to avoid confusion, I would! Mods - are you able to do that?
  17. Thanks for the info! How is the quality? I'm not expecting to find the best quality, softest ones... but as long as they're relatively soft and not too thin I'd be happy
  18. has anyone been able to find beach towels and pashminas that can be shipped to Canada for reasonable prices?
  19. Welcome Ker! We're taking a photographer from here. I had the same concerns as Aumuller, so it made me sleep better at night to choose someone from here and have them do our engagment photos as well so we could familiarize ourselves with each other before the wedding. For getting together... I'm good for either of those two dates in Dec. Can we possibly meet somewhere different? Its tough for me to get to 17th during the week with my car situation. No clue whats festive though
  20. I eventually changed my mind about this dress and bought a different one. I've only tried it on a couple times, and it has not been worn. Not sure of the designer, as I purchased it off-the-rack at a bridal fair and there are no tags inside the dress. The dress is a dark ivory / light champagne in color, with sand colored lace appliques. My camera is not the greatest so the color in the first picture is not accurate. The color in the second picture (back of dress) is accurate. The lace is heavily covered in beading and crystals. I can provide more detailed pics on request. It is a size 8, and fits me perfectly though I am usually a size 4/6 in street clothing. I'm 5'8" and this dress is 2 inches too long when I am not wearing heels. The train is exceptionally long! Paid $750, will accept any reasonable offer - just need to recoup the money to put towards my new dress! Buyer pays shipping.
  21. Ooh, thanks for that suggestion mocha. It's looking a bit shapeless on that mannequin, I'm hoping that the back just wasn't laced up properly when the picture was taken. I'm really hoping that the camera is responsible for how gold the beading looks in the picture. Guess I'll find out when it gets here! Worst case, I'll just pick off the beading if its that bad when it arrives
  22. I'm in for a meet-up that week! Proti, your dress is beautiful (saw it on the other thread as well) - great choice! aww you ladies are wedding band shopping now, thats exciting. I am finally just getting my e-ring in the next week or so lol. FI was a little behind the ball on that one! It's custom designed, I can ask him for the contact info for the guy he is using. Not sure how much he paid for my ring, but he did say the guy's pricing was very reasonable.
