  1. Â Nope, and most people on this forum recommend NOT using the photographer at our resort (Dreams Tulum). I've spoken to a couple photographers here in Calgary and now looking into photographers that work out of the Riviera Maya area. Its the travel cost to take photographers there thats hurting... not just for the photographer, but for her plus assistant! Â OMG they better have some sort of plan in place to get your dress done in time. I'm sorry you have this stress right now! Fingers crossed that your dress shows up over the next couple of days. Â
  2. Totally not necessary! A lot of people just do them as a "thank you" for guests that travelled to be there. There are quite a few people that dont do them though, so dont feel like you have to  I'm with ya on the lots of planning and decision making to do part. I love that the resorts take care of so much for us, but there's still a lot to figure out. Hunting for a great photographer right now! Â
  3. Welcome b2b! I dont know about other brides, but I think the main reason I plan to do OOT bags is to make myself feel better about asking people to fork over so much money to come to my wedding lol. Â
  4. Even though we have a group rate and people have started to book through it, I still find myself searching for deals every day lol. Its an obsessive need to know that the price isn't getting any lower, I guess. And its been working! It seems like the price is going up by the day, and our wedding is still 6 months away!
  5. Congrats and welcome from a fellow Canadian getting married at the same resort  Check the DIY forum, there are a ton of boarding pass templates and pictures there. I'm sure you'll find some good examples and ideas there.
  6. I think you have GREAT taste in wedding dates -- ours is the same day! Â Congrats and welcome to the site... there is a ton of great info here. You'll find all the advice you could ever need!
  7. We told all our close friends and family that we were getting married, but never bothered to update anything on Facebook. Probably wont either... anyone that needs to know already knows. All we would be doing is updating a bunch of acquaintances who probably dont care one way or the other lol.
  8. I'm doing a passport invite even though most people will have already booked by the time they get them. It just feels weird to not send out invitations, even though its really a formality at this point. Â The good thing is that since its a destination wedding there is a lot of other information that can be sent to people as well (resort info, etc) so sending out an invitation with that info on it would never seem out of place.
  9. Thanks! All those prices are listed in the guide, so its around $500 extra in total. A lot of things listed separately in the guide are already included in the package though so it was hard to tell if this was. Â Secretly getting married first is looking more and more appealing everyday lol. The translations back and forth between English and Spanish sound like a pain too. Â
  10. I've got a question about civil ceremonies... I've searched the thread and cant seem to find the answer to this one. Â The wedding packages all say that they include the services of a judge or minister. Does this mean that we need to pay extra for the blood test, judge transportation, birth certificate translation and wedding certificate translation? Â I'm assuming the answer is yes, but hoping someone who's already been married at DT can confirm! Thanks
  11. From what I've heard, you can do that, but only if you're downgrading (wanting silver but paying for gold) Â
  12. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one frustrated by guests not booking. Well, not glad to know that the rest of you are having issues too lol, just glad to know I'm not alone. Â Its especially frustrating because a lot of people kept asking when we were going to send our TA's contact info for them to book (we were holding off until our wedding date was confirmed at the resort). I finally sent them the info, thinking they were all itching to book since I kept getting asked... but only 3 people have booked! Argh!!! Â Maybe we can smack around each others guests a little bit lol. Â Sandy - isn't Becky great? I have no idea how she manages to find the rates she does... she's beat every quote we've gotten before we contacted her!
  13. If you manage to get your hands on it, do you mind passing it to me as well? In every email, Landy has been sure to mention that the rates are for 2010 and may go up in 2011 which leaves me thinking that they WILL go up. Small differences I can live with, but it would be nice to not have to wonder! I'll let you know if I come across the info as well Â
  14. Thanks! Â And those are great suggestions... both the "ceremony to begin promptly at" and the suggestion to have everyone meet prior to the ceremony. Â I was mostly worried if the judge or the resort would bite my head off if we started 10 or 15 minutes after the reserved time. I love that your mom and MIL forced you to be late haha... you probably would have been the only punctual bride ever! Â Â
  15. I'm downtown too (4th ave) so that could work! I'll pm you Â
  16. Boo - I'm interested in your sand! Those are exactly my wedding colors (I think... hard to tell on the monitor haha). Can I see them in person and then decide? Is that the price for all 6 lbs? Â Nat - count me in for the Thursday
  17. Boo, I love those lanterns! You manage to find the cutest things  I'm so happy, we finally got confirmation of our wedding date! We're getting married at Dreams Tulum in Feb 2011 yay!  Now the invitations fun begins haha. I'm attempting to do them myself, because we really like the passport invites but can't bring ourselves to pay $6 per invitation. Anyone recommend a good affordable print shop in Calgary?
  18. I'm trying to do my own right now and using Fireworks (just because I find it easier to work with than Photoshop).
  19. The answer may already be somewhere in this thread... but with 4000+ posts I gave up searching after 10 minutes! Â If DT confirms a ceremony time of 2:00pm, is it ok to start a few minutes later or are they pretty tight with the timing? I'm just not sure what time I should be putting on my invitations so that people are there and seated before the ceremony starts.
  20. Yay, I finally officially belong on this thread! We're getting married at Dreams Tulum in Feb 2011. I'm so in love with the resort already, cant wait!!
  21. Congrats and welcome! There are a ton of great resorts in that area, you'll have a lot to choose from. Have fun with the planning
  22. Congrats and welcome! Love your wedding date btw
