  1. I always order from Orbitz. They have this great 100% cheapest rate guarantee for the trip. Doesn't matter what day you buy the tickets, if the same tickets you bought were sold cheaper to someone else, then the difference will be sent to you by a check in the mail. You don't even have to do anything yourself, it's automatic. Of course, from my experience, the earlier you buy plane tickets, the cheaper the price. So, I would buy them the soonest you can. I'm an avid traveler, so another tip I would advise is to try buying tickets during the weekdays and buy them early in the morning like between 1-4am. That's when the tickets are the cheapest because people don't normally buy tickets then. When I first heard about that last tip, I didn't really take it seriously, until I tested it out and saw the difference. And if you're talking about group travels, might I also suggest a travel agent? Some can lock in good rates. Hope that helps =]

  3. I love your engagement story! It's funny and sweet at the same time =] Oh, and I couldn't help but giggle at the ring size fixer. That was a perfect touch and end to the story. Congrats on your engagement!
  4. Do I still count in here if I'm wearing her dress for my reception? I haven't picked out my wedding dress yet, but do love the Jenna. As for my formal reception dress, it's the red, silver, and white "Amara Royale" to anyone interested. I'm waiting to get my final fitting until closer to the wedding. Here's the link: Amara Royale - by Maggie Sottero
  5. Our trip for the wedding is not our honeymoon. It's more like a vacation with family & friends. Eric & I are leaving for our honeymoon the next afternoon after our wedding. Both of us are big travelers, so we decided on more than one trip for our honeymoon. Since our wedding is going to be in Rome, we're starting with a tour of Europe. We have great deals on flights and hotels because we travel so much, so it's not as much of an expense as it would seem. So far, we are already set on Paris, Madrid, Venice and Athens. FI says he wants to add more to the list (talk about jet lag..eek =/ ), but we'll see. Then after our Europe tour, we're ending our honeymoon with a week in Austrailia, because we both wanted to end with the customary beach honeymooning. After our honeymoon is the tricky part though. He's English and we plan on moving to England, but I'm originally from here in the U.S. So, we'll be temporarily returning to the states for an AHR(for my fam&friends who couldn't join us at the wedding), then we'll be moving to England. It'll be so very busy, but more so worth it. Btw, We're still deciding on the week-long beach part. It's either Austraila or Hawaii or Bora Bora. We haven't completely decided, but we're leaning towards Austrailia.

    Peru?

Although I was born and raised in the U.S., my family is from Peru and I visit there to see them. The first time I visited was when I was 14 and my stays would be as long as three months at a time. If anyone plans on visiting or honeymooning there and would like a native view on the area, just PM me. In fact, I pretty much have family everywhere, so if you need help for Spain too, I wouldn't mind helping. =]

    New Groom

Welcome to the forum, Sam! Feel free to ask all the questions you want/need to. Every bride and groom here is very nice and helpful. You'll soon find out this forum is very useful tool in wedding planning. It sure is for me and it's fast becoming a necessary one. Congrats on the engagement and happy planning! =]
  9. That's a cute idea and I'm sure you're guests will appreciate it. I don't know about the resort, but I know there's a great deal on mini liquor bottles at ABC spirits & Wine right now if you don't mind carrying them in luggage. I wasn't sure if you meant regular sized booze or the mini versions, but if you look online, there are a lot you can find. Sorry I couldn't help about the gift shop question though. I would post the same question in the thread where that resort is located.
  10. Okay, I'm stuck on this for the wedding hairstyle. I know an updo is used more often than downdo. I like how both look, depending on the hairstyle and design. I've heard or read from somewhere that the bride should always wear there hair up because the dress is the main showcase and the hair should never take away from that. I have thick and wavy curls and have thought about wearing my hair down because I feel I look my best when it's down and do actually like it better that way, however my hair is also long so I'm afraid it may cover the dress somewhat and i want to show the dress off too. Hence, why I'm stuck. So, what's your opinion, ladies, on the Updo vs. Downdo topic? Or even, what style do you plan on having done for your wedding? I forgot to mention the halfup and halfdown-do. That's also a very nice option, but I think I would take it in the direction of using a flower or something to hold up part of one side, instead of holding up a full half.
  11. Just received a coupon for Oriental Trading Company. It doesn't state an expiration date on it, but I'm guessing it ends by Fall. I know the customary free shipping deal on the website is for orders $49 and over. This coupon code allows free shipping on orders $39 and over. I know it's just a $10 save really, but I also know that with wedding planning, every dollar can count. The code is easy to remember =]: SUMMER2010 Also have another code, but it expires on July 31, 2010. It saves 15% off orders $49 or more. The code is WCE9522
  12. Welcome to the Forum, Stephen! I hope you find the help you're looking for. This forum is a very useful wedding planning tool. I know it is for me. =] Congrats and Happy Planning!
  13. How about a travel pillow and eye shades? The travel pillow may not be used in the vacation itself, but it'd be a great gift for the guests' long trip back home. The eye shades could be both used on the flight and the hotel for light sleepers. I know I would find it useful if I wanted to sleep in a few extra hours when the sun was up. =] Just in case people were interested, I found these two items on ebay for a dollar a piece in bulk, no minimum purchase and free shipping on ebay.
  14. Forgot to add...they have different colors too. Red, blue...even little animals for kids. Here's the cheapest one I found so far at $1.49 each, no minimum purchase and free shipping: Inflatable Travel Pillow Neck U Rest Compact AirCushion - eBay (item 110548556992 end time Aug-17-10 00:02:23 PDT) I've decided to even add eye shades for the light sleepers in the OOT bags...Those can be found at the dollar tree and in bulk at ebay. Happy planning!
  15. Hey! Well, I've been OOT crazy shopping lately (can't help it...it's turning out to be so much fun!) and the idea of travel pillows came to mind. I know guests probably won't need them during the vacation, but wouldn't it be a great gift for the trip back home, esp. the long ones? Anyway, I looked online for affordable ones and found bulk on sale in ebay. They're even selling at about $1-$2 each with free shipping, with as many as you'd like to buy (no minimum purchase) Here's one of the ones I found, but there are lots of differents ones so I'd just search around: Inflatable Travel Pillow Neck U Rest Compact soft Black - eBay (item 220640981548 end time Aug-20-10 01:30:06 PDT)
  16. I heard many brides say candles were a good addition to an OOT bag for the hotel rooms, so I looked for cute candles and I came upon this... Miniature Starfish Candle : Unique Wedding Favors - Wedding Reception Favors - Bridal Shower Favors It's a really cute starfish candle and at a fair price. The website also had lots of other great items worth a look. I love this forum and as soon as I saw this, I thought of all the fabulous beach brides on here and hope this helps. =]
  17. Hi everyone! I just got back from the dollar tree and two things popped up that I thought might be useful to you ladies. There was a great deal on 'after burn aloe gel'. It was selling at 3 for a $1. I was also surprised to see a spanish-english dictionary. At first, I thought it was just a regular dictionary, but after taking a closer look, there was a collection of spanish-english translation books at the dollar tree, all selling each for a dollar, of course. These aren't things I need, but I know there are a lot of beach brides creating OOT bags and I thought this could help. This was at a dollar tree in Tampa, FL. Hope it helps and happy planning! =]
  18. Nevermind, FI and I are planning a short trip to the city for a venue and wedding planner search. However, any and all suggestions would still be very much appreciated. Thanks! =]
  19. Hi Q! Wow, you have such great ideas! Thanks for posting the vistaprint prices and service. I haven't used that in a long while, so I'm sure they have a lot more free items now. I'll have to check it out. Thanks and welcome to the thread =] Happy planning!

Hi, nice to meet you. I know! I love this forum, but since I registered, I definitely noticed the lack of European threads. So, I figured 'why wait for one to pop up when I can create my own?'. Glad to hear from another bride marrying in Italy =] I'm getting married in October 2011, so we still have a little bit of time for planning. FI and I actually have to make a short trip there soon, so we can decide on venue and hire a wedding planner. We're ordering our STDs and invitations as soon as we get back and we already have a lot of the little details done, so planning is going well so far. How about you? Best of luck to you as well and happy planning!
  21. Nice to meet both of you two ladies. Congrats on your engagement and I hope all the planning is going well so far. =] Valentine_Baby : Neither of us are from Italy actually. My fiance is English and I'm from the USA. I am part Italian though, but I don't know any family from there so I'm not sure it counts as much. =/ The venue choice is a bit tough. Not many websites have choices and we're not getting a wedding planner until we decide on one, so we're probably going to plan a short visit to make our final decision. You made a great choice. We were considering a beach wedding too as I think they are beautiful with all the scenery. However, we decided not to for different reasons(most considering our family) and to have our honeymoon on the beach instead. I can't believe how fast time is going by either! Thankfully October 2011 is still a bit over a year away. Kathie: I don't think it's ever too early to send out Save The Dates for a DW, so no worries. I think it's best to give the guests as much of a heads up as possible for ample planning time. I was glad to hear someone had the same idea for STDs and invitations. What are yours decorated like and where did you order from? We haven't completed our order yet, but we're sending them out as soon as we get them. We know what we want, but we're temporarily stuck between these two invitation sites to order from: weddinginvitationdesigner.com and passportinvitation.com
  22. I've looked around the site and I don't see much to do with European destinations. I know that I've seen a few brides planning to wed in Italy. To all you Destination Italy brides out there, please post here. I think it'll make it easier to ask questions/tips, etc. for that certain area. I hope to talk to you all soon and happy planning! =]
  23. Congratulations and welcome to the forum! Happy planning!! =]
  24. Another October 2011 bride! =] Great idea of the forum...it's nice to be able to talk with other brides that have about the same timeline. I'm Chelsea and my fiance is Eric. We plan on getting married in Rome, Italy...haven't picked a venue yet, but we're working on it. As to your STDs idea, I think it's great as most people tend to RSVP online anyway. One thing though...does everyone you're inviting have a computer or internet access? I know almost everyone does these days, but there are some people that don't. So, just in case, I would add a number for those people to RSVP without having to do it online. Just a suggestion. We have almost everything thought out, except venue. We're including RSVP through the STDs(phone number), invitations(reply postcard included), and website. Our Save the Dates will be plane ticket themed, and the invitations will be passports. As far as breaking the news to family and friends of the Destination Wedding goes...we're telling them during the engagement party at the end of the month. The engagement cake will be designed as a vintage luggage with clothes sticking out. The favors will tell the secret. It'll be clear plastic luggage favors, filled with candy in the colors of the Italian flag(green, white, and red), and decorated with a ribbon and luggage tag telling them where the wedding will be. How did you tell (or plan to tell) everyone about the DW? Happy Planning!
