Hey Jmc8922! I have had a few people say they are concerned with going to Mexico as well and honestly it really bothers me! If they did their research they would know that the drug wars are not happening in Cancun! I get so sick of people saying things about Cancun/Rivera Maya being dangerous so I did find this and I put it on my website: "We are aware there are a lot of things on the news that may be of concern to you in regards to traveling to Mexico. I have done some research on it and according to the U.S. Department of State, they are NOT saying that you should not travel to Cancun! They are recommending that you do not go to the northern Mexico border cities of Tijuana, Nogales, Ciudad Juarez, Nuevo Laredo, Monterrey and Matamoros." I also posted this map: http://www.travelweekly.com/uploadedFiles/MEXICOMAP4.pdf It just frustrates me that people continue to say that! Do a search on this forum about the dangers of Mexico and you'll find more information. I myself have never been to Cancun, but I have friends that go to Cancun twice a year. They even ride the Collectivo (?) (public transportation) and they say they felt safe. As with anywhere, use common sense and they will be fine! Congrats on your wedding! I too was torn between Dreams Cancun and NOW Jade for this very reason! Jade just seemed more modern and new but I liked the location of Dreams Cancun, I believe it is right in the hotel zone & I LOVED the gazebo. I went back and forth for a while. If you know your group will be wanting to explore Cancun and it's nightlife, I think I would suggest Dreams Cancun. I ended up going with Now Jade b/c most of my guest are only staying a short amount of time and most say the don't even want to leave the resort. I know this post was absolutely no help for you to make a decision but just thought I'd share! LOL... Good Luck with which ever you chose. I don't think you can go wrong!

Hey Shay! I was just wondering... I thought you were suppose to send invations out to every person who recieved a save the date even if you suspect that they are not coming? I am brand new to all this and the first of any of my friends to go through this process so I could be wrong! Any input is appreciated!

Meagan- Oh wow! How exciting! Absolutely-we should definitely do this together! I'd love for you to send me pictures when you visit and to let me know how hot it is when you visit this June. Do you know how many people you will have? We are sending out our save the dates in May/June but I estimate anywhere from 30-50 people, but who knows! I hear that the people you expect to come, won't & the ones you don't expect will! As of right now we chose the Eternity Package. The only reason I would consider upgrading to the Divine is for the food choice and videography but for now, I think we'll stick with the Eternity and probably just add the videographer. What did you choose? Have you gotten the price of the package for 2013? I wonder when that comes out? I will probably just go with the resort flowers or possibly make my own (actually have a friend do that since I am NOT crafty AT ALL!). Also, I'll use the resort photographer. I am trying to keep things as cheap as possible. Are you having a wedding party? We are having 3 on each side. I honestly wanted just a maid of honor and best man to keep things simple but fiance insisted that he needed 3! Are you doing a legal ceremony? We are planning to marry before we leave.

See I suppose that could be a problem. We are so early in the planning stages so I am not exactly sure. I am thinking anywhere between 25 and 50. That's a pretty wide ranage! I agree with the bamboo room looking empty with few people. Do you know how many people the terrace holds? I guess I will have to wait until I know a better number of guest and then decide! Hopefully I will be able to change my choice if I need/want to! Wow! Your wedding is just 2 months away! Please tell about it when you return!

Hey Megan! Congrats on your wedding and happy planning! How did you decide on the bamboo room? I am booked on the terrace and I'm having second thoughts! Is the bamboo room totally inclosed w/air conditioning? I'm worried the terrace will be too hot but I really like the idea of being outside! I'm so confused!

Hi Megan816! I am also planning a wedding in June 2013 ath Now Jade, June 14th! What is your date? I'm super excited but a bit nervous as I will not be seeing the resort before. I've never even been to Cancun! We have the Pergola, Mix Bar and Terrace for the reception. I am attending the webinar on the 24th though Can't wait to read your review after your site visit!

You are so lucky to be able to go to Mexico and check out the resorts! We made our decision just by researching online and reading these boards. We have never even been to Cancun, actually, never even been to an all inclusive resort! But I have heard and read so much about destination weddings. We've been on plenty of crusies, but I really wanted to have our wedding at a resort and stay at the resort for a few days. I have faith! lol
