  1. Hi! No one booked with my wedding code. Not even me! Lol my WC would do price matching for us. So when people were ready to book she would provide me with the pricing for flight and hotel and I always found it cheaper on expedia so she would price match for me. We saved wayyyy more $$ doing it that way because it's always cheaper when u do flight and hotel together. Even if the hotel had given us a discount, then we would've had to purchase flight separate, and at the end of the day it would be more expensive to do it That way. Package deals are the way to go! I swear the hotel discount is small like 10%. How are your guests bOoking?
  2. My Photographer lives is Playa Del carmen so he didnt need a room for the night......I was booked under the old policy tho.....but now even if you book them a room, you have to pay the vendor fee.....so if your photographer doesnt require a room, then theres no need!
  3. This is very true! my onsite WC told me about the new policy when i met with her, which obviously didnt apply to me.......she also told me that with the new policy even if you book them a room (which is now a minimum of 2 nights!!) you still HAVE To pay the vendor fee......They are basically making sure that noone gets around paying it!! I just paid my fees and didtn bother trying to book them a room......at the end of the day you just want to make sure your vendors are able to have easy access to the resort the day of the wedding.....nothing is more annoying than dealing wit the security there.....trust me! ......
  4. i got mine from there too and they were adorable!!!! great size! I also wrote the date and "Thank You!" on the handle with a black shapie!!! it matched the design o it perfectly so it looked like who ever painted them also wrote it =) nice personal touch! and you cant beat the price! $1.95 per pair! Here's mine.....I had orange ones!
  5. Honestly, I never requested anything specific....i can remember from memory that it was instrumental (obviously) and almost similar to the "traditional" down the isle song....... it was beautiful tho!! once i get my video from my cinematographer i will know for sure!
  6. Hi! I brought over 40 maracas to mexico for my wedding and I packed them all in one suitcase along with all my other wedding items! and it worked out perfectly........but i dont remember them making noise while in there..... i def did not have any issues with them in customs.....
  7. I chose a saxophonist....and he played during the ceremony.....they know when to cue in......i didn't choose any songs....I just let them do their thing......
  8. Hey! Resend it bc I didn't get it! My BM dresses were from Allure Bridal!! Style 1229. Here's the link....i paid about $115 for each of them! http://www.allurebridals.com/index.php?id=3&product_id=743
  9. I used Fernando for my wedding and he was absolutely amazing! my makeup was FLAWLESS!!! He is usually REALLY quick with responding to emails.....you might want to email him again.....good luck deciding!
  10. Also, as far as activities, there are shows at night every night at the Royal in cancun.......and during the day at the pool area...........the beach is absolutely beautiful and HUGE!!! I've only been to Cancun in Mid-June so i cannot comment on the weather in April....BUT i know that it's absolutely gorgeous around that time of year, as i've read many many reveiws and seeing pics of brides married in apri-may!
  11. Hi Geisha!!! I was recently married at the Royal In cancun on 6/21/11!! I was also engaged a year before the wedding at the royal in cancun during our vacation there.........What can i say, it is a BEAUTIFUL resort! the food, service, rooms, beach, pool is amazing! my guests all LOVED it and cant wait to go back......this was my second time in cancun and I love the area.....never did i not feel safe......the clubs are literally down the street.....there are shopping plazas, restaurants etc all near there........I have pasted some very resouceful threads from both the royal in cancun and in PDC.......I used the PDC thread every day! even though I was not a PDC bride, but all of the rules apply to both hotels, so it's great to read it! I do not have my pro pics yet, but here are a few!!! PLEASE PM me with any questions you may have........I would recommend the Royal in Cancun to everyone!!! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/17108/royal-playa-del-carmen-brides-were-kids-allowed-for-the-day-and-other-questions/8820#post_1644239 http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/17108/royal-playa-del-carmen-brides-were-kids-allowed-for-the-day-and-other-questions/8820#post_1644239
  12. Nadennec......my ceremony was at the chapel and the reception and cocktail hour on the beach.......this no way in hell stopped me or every other female guest from wearing hot heels during the ceremony! lol..........after the ceremony i changed into wedge flip flops so that my dress wouldnt drag (worked perfectly on the sand!!!) and the girls just stayed barefoot (which looked beautiful!!).............so yea, heels are a must for the chapel lol Fashion-wise that is!
  13. WHOA that is crazy.....BUT i did experience this in a tiny tiny way........after I submitted all forms, made final paymetn and was transfered to my onsite WC, I got an email from my original WC with a photo of a luxury cake (that i never ordered, since i had a standard one included in my package) and saying that i needed to make the $190 payment asap.........So i immediately emailed her back asking what the heck she was talking about........she was like "this is not your cake" NO you dufus, I sent you a picture of the standard cake i wanted lol..........I have no idea how that happened.......But just send her a spreadsheet of the things you want and tell her to void all those other thing asap.....good luck!
  14. Bonnie-- OMG the photos are absolutely beautiful!! you looked gorgeous!!!!! I am chills!!! It is crazy how much of a difference the professional pics have in comparison to pics taken by guests etc...........I love them all!!! I have to wait about 3 more weeks to get all of my pics and I am dying!!
  15. The Royal actually has a new policy.........you cant just book your photographer a room to avoid it.......in fact you cant even avoid it anymore.............get this- You now have to book a minumin of 2 nights AND pay the vendor fee as well!! so you are just better off paying the vendor fee.....and get that in writting before they increase the vendor fee prices!
  16. Hey Ladies!! I was recently married at The Royal in cancun on 6/21/2011........just wanted to let you all know that I can help answer any questions you may have!!! Happy Planning!!
  17. Hey Ladies!! I was recently married at the Royal in Cancun (with ceremony at the Chapel of the Gran Caribe Real) and would be happy to help answer any questions you may have! Happy planning!!! I will be sure to share some photos with this thread!
  18. The Cocktail hour was $10 per real resort guest when i booked......not sure if the price went up tho! if it's non real resort guest, then it was $20.
  19. I didn't add the extra hour......not because it wouldn't have been useful, but because the price is outrageous! We did get to do all of the traditional things, and still had dinner, danced alot! I remember the first 20 minutes (as everyone is having dinner served) were very relaxing......We couldnt justify adding the extra hour, since everyone was already drunk, having so much fun, that we just keep the party going after the reception and everyone went to the clubs......... I would rather add cocktail hour, which is alot cheaper........AND my reception was suppose to end at 9:30, but it was done at about 9:55.........so it felt extended! I think the cocktail hour helps alot! since you have lounge music playing during it......
  20. I Cant even remember what the cold foods were for the cocktail hour! I didnt choose anything specific....i basically said I wanted a cocktail hour, chose the time and location and nothing else.....they took care of everything else.....I beleive there were a good amount of choices tho! As far as menu, I had already been at the resort last year when we got engaged, so i had a pretty good idea of how the food was! and also reading reviews on here! I really took a chance on this......BUT i really didnt have any doubts that the food would be delicious!!! The priest goes over everything! he tells the readers when to go....he actaully speaks to them before the ceremony starts just to let them know when they have to go up......and the 3 readers go up one after the other...... He will tell you when you meet with him the flow of the entire mass......and will indicate (both on the meeting and during the ceremony) when the gifts have to be brought up....... Trust me, he is so easy going, and explains everything, answers all questions during the meeting............ I turned in all of my forms, final choices, final payments to my WC, she needs to revise everything before she can turn you over to your onsite WC......they say 45 days, but really i sent over all of my stuff a little less than a month before the wedding.......actually my wedding was 6/21 and i think i sent everything either the very end of May or the very begining of June.......remember, if you need to add additonal guests (and trust me, no one will really book that last minute as prices will be ridiculous!!) you can still add them after you turn in all of your final docs.....you'll just have to work with your onsite WC durinng that last month to make any changes...... I really did not give or recommend anyone staying anywhere else other than the Royal or the Gran Caribe..........These guest will not be allowed at the hotel any earlier than about 30 minutes before the ceremony starts.............we had 4 people who booked (without telling me!) at another hotel.....remember the fees for cocktail hour, reception, etc double when it's a non Real resort guest!!! think about your budget! ..............if you do have non real resort guests, you dont need a day pass for them the day of the wedding......they'll just have to come in 30 mins before......... This is the way i presented it to my guests,,,,,,,,why would you want to stay at another resort when the purpose of a destination wedding is to spend some amazing days together bonding, getting to know each other.............the 4 people who i had that did not stay on the hotels, were pretty disappointmet and we only saw them during the wedding! that's all!!! they missed out on so much fun!!!
  21. Hi Roza!! Thank you for your sweet message about my flowers!!! I actually got them from the resort florist! It was included in my package and I was able to choose from the "standard bouquet" catalog and just chose the colors i wanted......They were beyond beautiful! To answer your below question- I actually had to do the same thing.......basically when filling out the "wedding information" form, we had to choose from 4 instruments by selecting your two 3 choices.......we had the Saxophonist so that was our "1" choice, then Harpist was "2" and Violinist was "3".......... when i met with my WC to go over the details my number 1 choice was what i was granted............So just specify with her now that you WANT the harpist.......I also did not choose the ceremony music, the saxophonist just played what they normally play and it was great! Let me know if you have any questions.
  22. Hey!! I was married at the Chapel in the Gran Caribe and reception on the beach at The Royal..... My WC was originally Katia....I loved her!!! and then was transfered to Elvy Arroyo because Katia had gone on maternity leave last December....I was able to hand in my Guest list and final checklist and all other documents a few weeks before the wedding......Not even a month before.....different WCs work differently, so check with yours! You have to have everything over to them so that they can make the transition from your WC to your onsite WC about 5-6 weeks before the wedding....... I was married in the Chapel, and since i met with the priest the day before the wedding, he let us know the flow of who walks in first, etc.......if you have having a ceremony on the gazebo, same deal applies......your onsite WC will go over this with you when you meet with her.....and you guys can decide together with her the order of the ceremony (who walks in first etc).......this is what I did.....my onsite WC was Elizabeth Sotelo.....she was lovely! and took care of absolutely everything! I did have a rehearsal/welcome dinner two nights before the wedding (when all of our guests arrived).......Since almost everyone stayed at the Royal, we had our Dinner at Maria Marie in The Royal........This is the only restaurant that they have available to do a semi-private dinner up to 35 people........but i am sure you can work with them if you have somewhere between 35-40 people.....Maria Marie at the royal has a area that is very private (which is amazing since your event is semi-private) and this is how it's set up (pic below)........because it is considered a semi-private event, we only had to pay $15 per person for each Real Resort guest and $30 for non-real resort guest..................is the $40 she is giving you a new price? or is this for a "private" event? Please let me know if you have ANY questions.....I'll be happy to help!!
  23. HI! For Mediamorfosis we went with their All day package (covers 10-12 hours).....They were there from9:30am to 10pm!!! THey were really amazing!!! lovely people! My WC had told me i can make my menu by using the entrees' from all of the menus........Basically I got to pick which appetizer, main course, and dessert from their entire catalog of "menus"...........I was actually able to choose two different entrees and just had to indicate which entree was going to each person.....I had Beef fillet turndao with three pepper sauce (DELICIOUS!!) and had a pink ribbon on the maracas for beef........and the Samon Fillet (also delicious!) with an orange ribbon aroudn the maracas.......This way the servers knew who was having what...............makes sense? WE had a cocktail hour as well but we did not upgrade to hot foods......But everyone ate what was served and loved it! I didnt have any as we were taking photos at the time..........To be honest, everyone is so excited about the wedding, and what's going on that they dont complain or notice little things, like if the canapes are hot or cold ones..... How's wedding planning going? When is your wedding?? how many people you have so far? Please let me know if you have ANY questions at all! you can also feel free to PM me.....I check the site everyday *sigh* lol
