  1. The guests have the option to do the AI or the European plan. When you do your contract, you need to give an estimate of how many rooms you think you will need. They will block these rooms and you must have 50% booked by a certain date (it will be in your contract) and then the remainder of the rooms need to be book 120 days prior to your wedding. If you do not use all of the rooms by the 120 days you can "release" the rooms so you will not be held financially resposible. If you do not release the rooms and they "all" are not booked, you are responsible for some perctage (I don't have my contract in front of me). When I did a site visit, I took pictures of everything. PM me your email address and I will send you a kodakgallery of it.
  2. Hi ladies. Those of you who have been married at Ceiba...what did you do for a wedding cake - from Ceiba or outside vendor OR did you skip cake and do a dessert table or something else?
  3. After reading your last response my place might not be the best option. I am getting married at Ceiba del Mar - has the option to do AI or not. You use whatever vendor you wish and there are many to choose from so you will be able to negotiate your prices. It is a small resort (88 rooms) with true Mexican authentic feel BUT there really isn't a night life. It is only about 25 minutes from Cancun and very close to Puerto Morelos (not much happening there but some restaurants and bars). Good luck!
  4. OMG! That is very original and so much fun! Yes, post more picutres when you can. Did Ceiba help arrange Filemon?
  5. Congrats Lauren on a great wedding. Looking forward to seeing picutres! Who is Filemon?? A donkey?
  6. We are getting married in the US and having a symbolic ceremony and are possibly having a relative do this. I am working with Eventos Euphoria and they have they really simple candles that they string across the terrace area. A bit pricey but think we are going to do it. A friend of a friend got a married at Ceiba this past Feb so if you want to see their pictures PM me and I can email the link. OMG - 60 rooms! What a huge wedding. So fun. We only have about 15 rooms booked. Using DJ Omar for the reception and he will provide the speakers for the ceremony (doing it on the pier) and for the reception in the Sushi lounge area. We are going to rent speakers for the rehersal bbq and create a playlist on our Ipod. We visited Ceiba in June and did a tasting so we picked our 3 course meal and are still figuring out what we are doing for wedding cake or dessert. We are doing a ceviche or torilla soup, salad and then the three choices are a chicken/fish/steak. I still do not have my dress and feel like there is a ton to do but will take it one day at a time! good luck and nice to hear from a Ceiba bride.
  7. It is in one of the pictures. It is a small hand held perforator ( I think it was $1.99) that I bought at Michael's. People have commented on the perforation...it definitely adds to the invite!
  8. Does your resort have any transportation that you could work a deal with?? I am working with Tropical Wedding Experts and they will be able to provided transportation if the guests choose to use them. PM me if you are interested in contacting them.
  9. My friend printing everything from work. It defn saved me money and the quality of her printer was great.
  10. Like del Sol stated, if you want your ceremony and reception to be private, pick a smaller location that way your wedding and guests will "own" the place for the time you are there. I visited Mexico in June to check out resorts and I saw a wedding at a large resort where all of the guests (about 50) in the pool were there watching - not so intimate! Decide on a island or location and then check this site for place suggestions. I am getting married at Ceiba del Mar in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. - small! good luck
  11. Hello Ladies, What a relief- grad work done and all invites completed, mailed, and people already received them! I posted everything under: "Boarding Pass invites done with the help of friends"
  12. I am defn going to do one per couple and if two friends are sharing a room, then I will do one for each person.
  13.  Myself and 5 friends made 90 invites in less than 3 hours. One person cut all of the tickets. At first two pple were cutting but they weren't cutting exactly the same and the size of ticket one was slightly off of ticket two. Person 1- cut out tickets with a blade on thick backing board. don't repeat the cut in the same area for too long on the board b/c it will cause you to be off. Person 2- scored all cardstock for the jacket Person 3 - taped the card stock Person 4- Perforated Person 5- punched round corners Person 6 - cut small part out around the curved on the tickets  I choose to hand write the address and return on all the invites and they looked very nice. Oh and it was one stamp!!  I bought natural colored hemp thread to tie around the jacket but all of my friends voted against it.     Â
  14.  After borrowing many of your ideas on this forum, I thought I could make my own invites. I attempted and got too frustrated. I created a monogram which my friend worked off of for the invites. She was very patient with me and did a fabulous job!  Supplies: Almond cardstock from Micahels - on sale $0.29 each Brown #10 envelopes from Staples - $3.99 each Gold pen from Staples - on sale for $2.00 Perforator from Michaels - $2.99 The following I borrowed from friends or people at work: White cardstock Corner round double sided take blades and exacto knives metal rulers        Â
