  1. Hi ladies Checking in to see how everyone is doing? There are so many things to decide on: music for ceremony, processional, father -daughter/ mother- son, first dance, etc. Where are all of you in your planning stage? Have you put deposits down for everything? I am just waiting for our WC to give us the most up to date proposal to send her a deposit for Eventos and the DJ. I know she is busy with a lot of weddings right now so hopefully we will get this soon. Anyone on the east coast ready for spring? I love skiing so I enjoy getting the snow but come on...freezing rain was not fun today.
  2. Thanks! I showed my FI your bag last night and he liked it. We really don't want to spend a ton of money of the bag itself so I think I may go with them. I am just waiting for a few more weeks b/c I have some people who are on the fence about going.
  3. I am sure I have tons of typos on here b/c I type so quickly and never use the spell check. : )
  4. jystar13 thanks for posting the pic. The bags look great! Where did you buy the iron on paper from? The bags do look thin but I think they will be just perfect. Your wedding will be here before you know it!
  5. KP Southie- When we did our site visit in June the bugs were not bad during the day however the evening was a different story. The restaruant closest to the beach was very buggy. There is a large grassy area right beside it with seaweed piled up and other vegatation which I think is what really attracts the bugs. Lauren - did you do your cocktail hour at the sushi lounge area? How were the bugs? The hotel provides the guests with a bug sprayg that DOES NOT work so take your own!
  6. Hi ladies, I haven't put together my OOT bags but plan on doing that. A friend also gave me an idea for a favor. I haven't read all of the posts so maybe it had been mentioned. Our photographer will be with us for all three of our wedding events. I am thinking of giving a small picture frame with a note in it at the wedding and then mail the acutal photo of the guest from the wedding weekend. The photographer seems to be willing to do candid shots throughout the day as well as the wedding events. What do you think? I hate going to weddings and getting something I will never use b/c I feel bad throwing it away.
  7. This may be a stupid question but how did you know exactly when the guests arrived at the resort? We will know when there flights arrive but we have guests coming in anywhere from Tuesday before the wedding (on Sat.) to Friday. I also do not want to pay a fee for the hotel to distribute the bags.
  8. Hi Ladies, I just went to IKEA yesterday and they had white paper laterns on sale for $1.99 each. I'm not sure if this is on the cheaper side or not but thought I would share it.
  9. I think I was just having a bad day and I shouldn't think about wedding stuff during work like I was b/c I get too stressed. My FI spoke to Diana on the phone and via email and she has been very helpful and clarified some things for us. Hoping this will continue. Cake- I haven't seen or heard anything about the cakes. There is a picutres of cupcakes that Ceiba did for a bride (not too many posts prior to this one). I had some delicious pastry from Mercedes Silva when I did my site visit however, she doesn't have a website and I can't find her by googling her. My WC just gave me the price per person. Not sure what we will do.
  10. I am really sad to read all of these posts how everyone is having or had such a wonderful experience working with Diana and Paola. When I intially contacted Ceiba in May/June via email and phone we waited forever for anyone to respond. Since we weren't getting any response, we ended up going with an outside WC who was recommended from a former Ceiba bride. I can't explain how upset I am that we had to make this decision!!!! Our hired WC met with us during our site visit and the other Paola did for only about 30 minutes. I guess timing is everything. I love this website but hate it at the same time. Sorry for venting!!!!
  11. From reading reviews on this site, we also decided to do the legal ceremony in the states and are doing a symbolic wedding. My FI's uncle will be the offciant so it will be very personalized. There's a thread already started with ceremony scripts so savvybride2010 maybe you could add it there if you want to share. I think doing the legal part here would just make the whole experience of getting married in Mexico less stressful. You don't have to tell your guests that you legally did it in the States...no one will ever know!
  12. Weehawken NJ bride. Thanks for starting this thread. I have so much to do still. I am having my dress made and she will only be starting it in Jan and my wedding is April 16th. Life has been so crazy busy and the wedding planning has been on the back burner for a long time. I guess that is why I am on this at 1am. Not doing a BD for my FI. I am a teacher and would hate to have something like that come out and haunt me. No clue what to get him! Is everyone really doing a gift? We are paying for our own wedding so money is certainly an issue.
  13. I was't able to see the picture. Could you post another one when you have a minute. Thanks
  14. I didn't meet my FI online but we were a blind date. My great friend saw him working at her gym and her bubbly self asked if he was single and would he be willing to go on a blind date. I had been single for over a year (after a very long - 7 yr relationship) and was not exactly the best at dating. I decided to meet him and it was the best unexpecting thing I would ever do. We dated for almost a year and I broke up with him...I think I was scared and not sure if I was ready to be in such a committed relationship. Oddly, we remained friends and hung out occassionally...we were like best friends. We went on a group ski trip and got back together December 2008. This time I know he is the one and am so thankful to my friend for finding me my love and best bud!
  15. Thank you to all who have posted! I just sat here and read through all of the pages as my FI snores beside me. His Uncle will be the officiant of the ceremony and we are doing the legal ceremony prior. I am very thankful to have a future family member be such a big part of our special day. My FI will be so excited in the morning to see we have something to start from! THanks again.
  16. I love this. I want something simple like this...saving the pic to show my florist. thanks
  17. Wow. Your baker did an excellent job replicating the picture you gave them. Gorgeous!
  18. Thanks for sharing your pros and cons and all of the pictures. I am getting married at Ceiba del Mar b/c I wanted to the initmate feel but there are defn some cons. I love using this site but it also always makes me second guess every decision I have made! Happy Planning.
  19. OH YES, I have been dreaming of an ice cream cake but not sure that is possible??? Anyone ever heard of it done?
  20. savvybride2010 - Didn't the guests have the option to do the all - inclusive?? I was just wondering because we are encouraging everyone to do the AI since the prices of food and drinks will well exceed the difference between the European Plan and the AI plan.
