  1. Jess -- how big are the ones from the christmas tree shop??
  2. I actually used a zig brand scrapbooking glue pen to glue the pages together, and then used a slightly stronger card crafting pen to secure the paper to the cardstock cover. I bought them both at Joann's. I wanted everything to look as smooth as possible, which I why I didn't want to use staples. Hope this helps?!
  3. Â Â Good idea!! I am going to have so many extras, I was trying to think of a way to reuse them...maybe I'll but a white sticker over the whole back to cover up the writing and print my welcome notes on them too!! Â
  4. I'm actually sending these out soon...which I believe is different than the norm? They are the first peice of information that anyone is getting about travel and booking, and our families/friends have been so anxious about when they could start booking, so any day now I guess. I'm not actually finished with all of them yet!! Where are you getting married lisa??

  6. bummer :oP I'll try mine..but all else fails, the dollartree has them 3 for $1...so not much different
  7. has anyone else had luck?? I'm wondering if they were a weekend thing? I think i'm going to go tomorrow anyway and see..
  8. Thank you so much to everyone for the compliments!! It is definitely a lot of work, but somewhat rewarding to say I made them myself!
  9. I honestly would recommend the new Kodak ESP 7 printer...love it!! ) and the ink is much cheaper!
  10. Thanks for sharing!! I'm going to head over tomorrow and see if they're there!
  11. very nice!! I have no idea why I never thought of putting the schedule on my thank you/welcome letter...I am going to make something like this to attach to our OOT bags!
  12. I would definitely send something out...a lot of people here do Passport Invitations -- I just made my own to give a formal invite, tell people about the resort, and give information on how to book (if they haven't already). That might be nice!  Here is mine...I made mine on my own with a template, but you can have them made by companies too.  http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/63119/my-diy-passport-invites  Or you could do pocket invites..
  13. No problem!! I actually had to create a new document in Microsoft Publisher in the size of my paper. Then in the printer properties I set up a new custom size for the paper and just played with it until got it centered on "practice" paper. That was for 5 1/2" x 7" paper (folded it would be 5 1/2 x 3 1/2) THAT I could send you. I can't send my passport template because it was made with Aylee's $10 template. But if you use her template for the cover, you can just use a regular 8 1/2 x 11 and cut them. Â Hope that helps??
  14. Thanks!! I did use my own printer -- I have a Kodak printer -- and just put it on best quality. Â The cardstock I bought from them was precut "card" size -- six with envelopes. They were on sale for 40% for 2.99. I didn't find any regular size cardstock there that looked like this at either Joann's or AC Moore.
  15. SO wierd!!! They did actually change the way you edit since I made them...so that might have something to do wtih it. If you really want that design, I can probably help you out? Are you familiar with using paypal? Because I could send you a bill for the price and have them sent to you. You would just have to give me the information you'd want. I don't mind helping you out as long as you pay for them! ) If this makes any sense??
  16. I'm gonna check!!! When I went back into mine it just seemed to be that way...
  17. How many invites do you have to do?? Because I really might suggest buying 8 1/2 X 11 card stock instead of what I did...You get two covers per page that way. Websites that some girls have used are www.paperandmore.com and www.paper-papers.com. That is technically what the paper calls for. They actually have the orange flame metallic paper that I used for a little bit more money. Some people also used those website to buy linen paper for the pages (where I just used nicer printer paper). Â and thank you for the compliment! I'm glad you like them! Like I said, Alyee's template was the best $10 I spent, and I just found pictures of the resort and put them in!
  18. Awww that's so nice that he liked them so much! There are a lot of other ones on here too -- even better than mine :oP Â The cardstock that I bought were actually cut and made to be actual cards. This is the best example I could show you, except mine are made by a different company and have white envelopes...but you get the idea http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?pageName=search&flag=true&PRODID=xprd757228. My cards were like 5 1/2" tall by almost 1/2" wide (folded like a normal card) -- I cut off an inch off of the width to make them 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" -- which I think is the perfect size for a passport invite. Â Joann's is a craft and fabric store..I see you're from Texas?? they do have those stores in TX, so you can check on their website for one near you. You can also use regular 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock, which the template is supposed to be used for, and cut them the way the template tells you! I just did it different because I couldnt' find the cardstock I wanted (in the price I wanted to pay), so I improvised! It is actually much easier than what I did.

  20. ...AND I just realized you already commented on my passport invites last night!! haha I just wrote you back about how to do the postcards...you should try to do them yourself!!
  21. Honestly, I fought for this awhile myself! It may depend on how many you need, but I know when I priced getting them done, the cheapest it would have been for me (only needing 25) was almost $200 -- which wasn't really in my budget. I ended up deciding to make them myself and I am SO glad I did!! I spent next to nothing to do them myself -- mainly because I think I cut corners in all the right places.  First -- I paid $10 for Aylee Bit's passport template, which was the BEST decision I could have ever made http://www.ayleebits.com/2009/03/09/passport-invitation-template/  Second -- for the printing, I actually used my own printer (kodak) on best quality..and they came out great (it did take a few runs on regular paper to set all of the margins up, but it worked out really well)  Third -- I used precut cardstock from Joann's that came in packs of 6 (including envelopes!!) and were 40% off. They were perfect in length and only needed a little bit cut off of the width.  Fourth -- I am using printer paper (a better quality paper, but still printer paper) for the inside pages...and I don't think they look cheap at all  All in all, because I already had the printer paper and paper cutter...I spent  $10 on the template $12 on cardstock/envelopes $5 on a corner round punch $10 on new ink  Here is a link to my passport invites I made...I may add ribbon to them, but that's about it. The reply postcards I got free from VistaPrint. Let me know if you need help!!! It IS quite a bit of work..but it saved me almost $165 dollars.  http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/63119/my-diy-passport-invites  (and if the link doesn't work, it is under the DIY forum titled "My DIY Passport Invites!")
  22. Primavera: The postcard I bought is actually a design they offer!!! I just added the text!! You can search "palm tree" once you are under the postcard designs...and it should show up?? or even maybe under the "travel" category?? Good luck!! Let me know if you have trouble! THere are quite a few beach designs!
