aventura spa palace
jszy10 replied to ohiobride15's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Oh no!! ( I would def call your TA and tell her she is going to lose a LOT of business if she doesn't adjust the rate. If you are planning on a lot of guests, this could be a big deal to her! I know that them booking elsewhere isn't helping you AT ALL, but the "threat" in general may force your TA to change her rates? Good luck!! Let us know how you make out! -
Thanks!! I didn't actually buy them yet, but I am going to be ordering them soon! I can let you know when I finally do! I am spending around $50-60 on each bridesmaid -- $15 for the wristlet, $10 for the necklace, $5-10 on earrings, and around $20 for the lounge chair cover. Here is the link to the chair cover if you are interested. There is a different link for each color, but this is for the pink one -- http://www.amazon.com/ULTRA-THICK-VELOUR-POCKETS-ZIPPERED-CONVERTS/dp/B002KZZVES/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294249600&sr=8-1. There was actually a person on ETSY that sells personalized ones too, but I love the fact that the other ones actually fold into a bag!!

I purchased these custom wristlets from FrankLloyd on etsy : (our colors are orange and aqua -- the girls are wearing aqua dresses) I am going to put the starfish necklace below (kohls) and earrings (didn't purchase yet) in their wristlets: and then I am also purchasing each of them one of these lounge chair covers (amazon) -- it folds into a beach bag!!:

Honeymoon Registry
jszy10 replied to schmizer's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
My resort actually offers a honeymoon registry, so we registered for some things on there and will also register for some things in a regular registry. Because I will be having a shower and an AHR, I felt like it was necessary for us to have a regular registry. If you are not doing any of that, I don't think its necessary. I really think it is all in your preference! We purchased a home 2 years ago and have almost everything that we need, so we definitely won't have much to register for anyway. -

I like the orange and dark purple! It will tie in great with your already purple color! -
Honoring those that have passed away
jszy10 replied to weddingaway's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Could you set up a small table with a picture and a sign that says something about "remembering a lost friend on this important day" ? I see a lot of people do this at their receptions for lost loved ones. My girlfriend even lit a candle next to the picture frame in rememberance. -
WEATHER IN APRIL FOR OUR WEDDING
jszy10 replied to kat15.4.11's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
Hey hun! I don't know anything about it, but I found this before that may help you out -- http://www.cancuncare.com/Cancun_Weather/ April looks like one of the least "rainy" months!? -
Sunset in October
jszy10 replied to NikkiT1021's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
Go to this website! http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=923&month=10&year=2011&obj=sun&afl=-11&day=1 I think 4 would be nice because the sun will be setting during your pictures, but that is up to you! The sun sets at 7 in June when I go, and my ceremony is at 5. I think it all depends on if you want the sun to start setting right after your ceremony or if you want a little bit of sun left for pictures. ) Good luck! -

Chris: Congrats on finishing your Masters!! I finished mine last December and it's such a great feeling!! I'm so sorry to hear about your wedding gown ( Thank goodness everything is going to work out!! It is really starting to really feel close to me too!! We have less than 6 months!! FI and I both have our rings now, we are just starting to get registered, and still purchasing things here and there that we need for both Mexico and our AHR. Is anyone having an AHR!?!? I am trying to figure out when I should send out my invites for it!? -
Bridesmaid/Bride wristlets - ETSY Find!
jszy10 replied to jszy10's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
If you contact him, definitely ask him to show you all of the fabric options he has! He has more than what is listed on his site and he even sent me specific recommendations according to my wedding colors. -
The magazine "Destination Weddings & Honeymoons" has a section on their website that allows you to put a picture of yourself on the cover of their magazine, customize the headlines, and print it out! These could be a great, unique way to send out thank you's or just have something fun to keep for yourself! http://covermaker.destinationweddingmag.com/?cmpid=fb Enjoy!

OOT welcome letter
jszy10 replied to chrissytina924's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Great letter, thanks!! -
We are doing a registry as well for the same reason -- we are inviting over 100 people to our AHR who are NOT coming to our DW and may want to purchase us gifts. I want to put wording in our "pre-travel brochures" that states something along the lines of "your presence is our gift", but I'm stuck with wording too! On my Knot website it lists our registries, and my FI's mom has already called and kind of complained about having to pay for the trip AND buy a gift on top of it, but he explained it all to her. I want to make sure no one else feels obligated either!

I actually kind of did the same thing, except I didn't send reply cards with STDs, I just sent out Passport Invites with RSVP postcards early. I'm not actually sending out another invite when it gets closer. It may just be because I have a small group, but I don't find it necessary to send anything else. If someone replys back that they are coming, they're coming! I'm just going to send a pre-travel brochure with more details!

uughh!! ( My colors are glacier blue (like tiffany/light blue) and orange, and they are out of the light blue/aqua maraca for an unknown period of time!! I am already using orange and white tiger lilies for the centerpeices, so I really wanted to have a mixture of aqua and orange maracas...it looks like I might have to do all orange. Do you guys think that would be too much orange!?! With no aqua maracas, there isn't really going to be much aqua at all on the tables I was really counting on that..

Oh no!! My family makes little comments about it, but none of them have threatened not to come. It sounds like you have done all you can to reassure them? I have said the same as you...that we are in a very nice resort that is guaranteed to be safe, not the mention that almost all of the violence that has been happening is no where near our resort. Right?? -
I actually did my std's and invites differently than most. We sent out our STD's as just an announcement about when/where we were getting married with "invitation to follow" and sent out our Passport Invites about 10 months in advance. We included RSVP postcards with our passport invites and are not sending anything else besides a "pre-trip brochure". We do only have a small group going (17 so far), so that may not work for someone with a big group. I honestly think that DW's are non-traditional as it is, so I don't think you need to follow normal protocol.
