  1. Ha! Small world! I don't live around there anymore, but I'm originally from Manitowoc (Its about 40 minutes away) but we used to party in Appleton! But my side of the family and wedding party are flying out of Milwaukee! (In 18 days! haha...had to throw that in; I'm just a lil bit excited!!)
  2. I'm sure that you will be fine too...from what I have heard from people who have been there, just like Tris said...it's just for a short moment and it freshens everything up! We leave in 19 days!!! I can't believe how many of us are going down there so close together...it was so sparse when I first found this forum and now it seems like there's a bride from the forum going every week!! How awesome!
  3. Not that I know of...I think it was Akua that had talked about doing this and so I sent an email to that email address and thats when they said our group was too large for Don Pablos but they could accomodate us in either the Italian or the Grill restaurants...I think its just more to group us together?! Here's what I sent: Hi Melissa, I was informed that I could contact you in regards to reserving a section of a restaurant for our wedding party following our rehearsal at the gazebo? If so, this is something that I would like to do. We have a group of 31 people and if we could eat at Don Pablos, that would be great. Our wedding is on Saturday, May 7th so our rehearsal will be on Friday, May 6th at 6;00 so if we could make the reservation for 7:00, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you so very much for your help! Here's their reply: Good Afternoon Let me apologize as Melissa is not with us anymore. I will be the one now in charge of your account. Because of the size of your group we are not able to accommodate you in the Don Pablo restaurant as it is too small. We do have the Garden Grill or the Dolce Vitae which can hold a group of your size. Please let me no which of the two you decide. I will have to ask that you speak with the wedding coordinator about your rehearsal dinner once the final decisions have been made she will correspond with me and i will do the booking. If you have anymore queries please feel free to contact me. kind regards Andrea Jacks P.R Executive Email: [email protected] Tel: 1876 973 7000 · Fax: 1876 670 8503 Ext. 50026 P.o Box 106, Pear Tree Bottom, Runaway Bay St.Ann. 4. We did the same as Tris...ours is also booked for 6 and I requested the Grill for dinner following; we wanted Don Pablos but our groups too big. To request your rehersal dinner email Andrea at: [email protected] It used to be Melissa but I guess she left too?!
  5. So after much debate and hesitation, I finally decided to do a BD shoot with the photographer that we have our wedding booked with, and I couldn't be more happy with the results! My gosh did I get my money's worth! We were there for 4 hours shooting!! She took a total of 660 pictures and before she sent me these, she had norrowed it down to 275! lol! So I should be getting the rest of them later in the week, but I was so excited, I had to share these sneak previews! PS...as many other ladies have said, If you are considering doing it...DO IT! You won't regret it, I swear! I want to do it again!!!
  6. So...if the judge fees were originally $400, does that mean that the 2011 prices go down $200 then too? I know we were supposed to pay the judge $400 cash as part of our package...is it only $200 then? Heck - if I can save $200 - that's a start!!!
  7. I don't think that bitching about the price change is bad at all! But I did come up with the devious plan....the print out's don't say 2012 anywhere on them...so those are the ones that I plan to bring down and maybe just play dumb?! But if it does come up...then I plan to use the leverage and perhaps offer to pay for the top package if they accept to give us the 2012 price but we'll only go with the free package if they don't. It'd be a difference of over $400 more that they would make if they give it to us... I don't understand why they are giving the packages out so early if they aren't applicable until next year!!??!!
  8. So are the guys okay to wear nicer dress shorts then for dinner in the evening as well!?
  9. That was kind of my thoughts...plus it would be added extra weight to an already borderline overweight suitcase!!!
  10. Just another FYI...I received this from our TA today: "The restaurants at night will want men to wear long pants and collared shirts and closed toe shoes. Women can wear pants, sundress or skirt and can wear sandals. No flip flops. No sport coats are required." Feel bad for the guys...really, they can't wear a nice pair of sandals?!
  11. I had asked Bev about the chair covers awhile back...the number of people allotted in your packages is the number of chair covers you get at no additional cost....if you have more people than the allotted amount in the package, that's when you have to start paying for each additional chair cover.
  12. I noticed that when I printed up the packages...the date does not come up on them...so "if this is all I got" then I guess that's what I'm bringing with me and I'll just play dumb! lol!! Does anyone know if there is a dress code at any of the restaurants? I know when we went to Mexico, there were some at the nicer ones where no shorts were allowed and the guys had to wear sport coats...? Also, is there a curfew for children being in the disco and such?? Not that they would be in there all that late, but I could see some wanting to stay and dance and be terribly disappointed if they had to leave by 9 or something??!!
  13. Thanks ladies! They are from the Forever Yours line style 77213. They are sold at various bridal salons in our area... http://www.foreverbridals.com/collections_fy.html?S=77213 They have a tab on their website for a store locator too!
  14. Tris, I wouldn't think that you would have to pay that much! Call your TA and see if they have them on staff...ours would do it for free but we had our best man do it as he is one himself.
  15. A notary does not need to be a lawyer...anyone can literally take the class to be one - costs about $300 or something like that, and you learn about legalities and ethics attached to being a notary and the responsibilities of notarizing a document. At the end of the class, you receive your stamp and certificate. You can find notaries at most banks, post offices and travel agencies... But the point of notarizing these documents is to verify that the copies that you are sending down are actual copies of "legal" certificates as they can not see the raised stamp on the faxed/emailed copy. By having a notary stamp them, for lack of better words - they become official, unofficial documents. Often notaries are used to verify that a signature is indeed the signature of the person that it is claiming to be: ie: on legal and court documents. We made copies of all of our documents and had them notarized (you wouldn't want the notary signature on your original - hence the copy being made) and faxed them to GBPJ. I did this right when the change over was happening with Beverly leaving and I kinda panicked; I emailed our TA and she called down there and talked to Chandlyn. She looked over the documents, verified that it was everything that they needed and told our TA that it was good to go. I would suggest perhaps you ladies doing the same...as it would give you piece of mind that what you sent down to her was correct/sufficient and prevent anything unexpected from popping up when you get there...the legal stuff is the last thing that I would think that we want to have issues about! Just a suggestion?! Plus then you know that they for sure, for sure, received your stuff! That's not something that you want floating out somewhere...
  16. Hey ladies! There was a forum on this awhile back...someone had mentioned that Moroccan Hair products are stupendous for taming frizz in high humidity locations...The question that I posed that I am still looking for an answer to is what products do ya'll use from this line?! I have been researching and it seems that there are numerous items available and I would prefer - given the prices for the stuff - to only purchase the necessary ones. My hair is thick and naturally curly and all I know is when I went to Mexico - it was AWFUL! It was limp, lifeless, stringy and nowhere near anything resembling my normal curls - and forget about trying to straighten it! I don't know which way was worse! So...I am looking for ANY help that I can get as that kind of hair is not acceptable for my wedding day! Any help ladies?! Thanks sooo much!
  17. Here's some good info ladies...sorry its kinda lengthy, but I found another girl from Wisconsin (small world) that just got married at the resort...here's what she sent to me about her recent experience... Hi Missy, That's ok, you didn't creep me out, this is the world of facebook!! I was just surpised to hear that we were on the website! Everyone there treated us like we were royalty. It was amazing! However, some of the staff wasn't as friendly as we normally see in Jamaica. Apprarently, the staff striked a week before we got there so they were, I think, all walking on egg shells. I was surprised too that they let Beverly go! They actually let her go the night before we left! We talked to her on a Friday night and she mentioned that she was going to be there the next morning. Went to see her the next morning before we left and we asked for her and they said she wasn't in. We were puzzled because she said she was going to be there??? So I emailed her when I got home to thank her for what she has done for us and a couple days later I received an e mail from Chandlyn. I asked her about and she said that she no longer is with the company. We went with a huge group of 60 people! I did all the planning with Beverly the day after we arrived. There really is nothing to do/plan until you get down there. She had a book for flowers, menu choices (cuz you get a sit down meal for at least 16 for free), cake, she set up my hairstyle in the spa, delivered all of the girls flowers and coordinated everything. Anything that you want extra, you'll need to book in advance. I ordered the steel drum band ($400) and she had that booked for me. That was awesome!!!! Did she give you a sheet of options etc??? Also, make sure that you have all documents faxed to them at least 2 months before your wedding date. IE, birth certificates, wedding date & time confirmed, passports etc. Bring notarized copies of them too. They need proof when you arrive. Also, big deal for us......they wanted $400.00 CASH for the minister and document fees. I thought they were going to take credit card for that but they needed cash so bring extra if you want spending cash! THey only filled the ATM's on Monday so we needed to borrow some from everyone else until we went to town to get some. CRAZY. But everything else went so smooth, it was unbelievable. The gazebo was decorated beautifully and we had Champagne toast after! She arranged our dinner for 60 of us and it was great! I wouldn't worry about Chandlyn. She should have documentation on everything. Otherwise, make sure she has all the information that you and Beverly have discussed or arranged. We had a big wedding party of 7 each so I made my own programs for the guests. Otherwise, they charge you $5.00 each. This was a fabulous resort and you will absolutely love it!! Definately a 5 star!!!!! Oh, one other thing....they don't stock wash cloths in your room. This is a spanish resort and apparently they don't use wash cloths so you need to request. We just made friends with our maid, tipped her generously and we had wash cloths everyday! She also decorated our room beautifully with rose petals all over. Can't say enought about my wonderful experience! I hope that you have a great time as well and congratulations to you!!
  18. Thank you ladies! The dropped waist was never something that I would have thought that I would have liked on me...my hips are a self-concious spot for me...but with the corset, it gives curves that I didn't know I had...I say if you like the look on the models, You'll probably LOVE it on you! It makes you feel soooo feminine!
  19. We don't have to deal with the long for birth certificate stuff in the US...but in order to be at the 2 month prior deadline, I wanted to get them out before the end of this week. I ended up faxing them to our TA who then faxed them to GBP. She then called down there and spoke with Rosie in sales as well as Chandlyn to verify that the documents were received and that it was everything that they needed. Our TA said that she got the impression that things are transitioning smoothly and verified that everything that had been discussed with Bev had been relayed to Chandlyn...so I am breathing a little easier now.
  20. Thank you! Here's me in my dress again, I posted it a few pages back...but since you asked...I guess I can post it again! lol!!
  21. Went in for my 2nd fitting yesterday on my Jenna...I am so in love with her! But...to my surprise...my seamstress tells me I can't lose any more weight or it will have to be taken in! When I first got the dress, it was a slight bit tight in the hips, figured it was not problem to fix it; been devoted to zumba to drop some weight and now I have to stop?! Really?! I've just started to get addicted to this whole weight loss thing! A girl just can't win! lol!!
  22. I wasn't able to get the fax to go through either! I was trying yesterday...and wondering what gives! I finally just faxed them to our travel agent thinking that maybe I couldn't fax internationally from work... How did you end up sending them?
  23. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the reverse...I already gave the girls their dresses and this was my sisters so it was my size...I can try to get one in the next few days, but I can't promise anything...I'm sorry! 24. Thank you adevnturelovers! Here's an actual pic of it with our colors...Sorry bout the quality...my phone takes crappy pics but the designer is Forever Yours 77213...my MOH and by bonus daughters will be wearing this combination and the other 4 BM's are wearing the Tangerine, with the fuschia ruffle...LOVE how they turned out! Can't really tell from the pic but there is a crystal line that runs down the ruffle side, from the top of the dress, to the start of the ruffle...Can't wait to see how they will sparkle in the Jamaican sun!!
