  1. Engaged in Italia <3 I just realized I'm almost 1.6 away from my wedding date and I never officially posted my proposal story! Thank you to this forum who has helped me plan my wedding with amazing ideas, support, and helpful information!! My fiance and I planned on a trip in May 2010 to Italy to celebrate a mix of things, my college graduation and my birthday, mostly. The flight was a lovely gift from him as well. He kept pushing for us to go somewhere nice for awhile but since I earned very little due to my student teaching, I wasn't sure it was the best idea financially. Italy was my dream vacation for yearsss so we finally made it happen. Venice to Rome for 8 days. What an amazing trip I would do all over again with additional pit stops. (Proposal - taken from our wedding website) The proposal was romantic and amazing! We're a couple who loves to travel, so when Michael suggested we go to Italy, I didn't think much of it- although he always joked around saying he would propose in Venice on a gondola ride. After that gondola ride, I was pretty sure it wasn't going to happen. We were toward the end of our trip in Rome and that Sunday was one of the most exhausting days ever! We saw the Vatican (& Pope), Colosseum, Forum Hill, Spanish Steps, and other historical sites along the way. Mind you, we walked all of this. We went grocery shopping and made our own dinner (pizza!) Even though I got the wrong dough, it did taste delicious. After, Mike opted making coffee and suggest we get one on the way to the Trevi Fountain. So we went on a small stroll and we knew we were close when we heard the water. I was in absolute awe. Such an amazing place! We both got a cappuccino adjacent to the fountain, with some delicious tiramisu. We then sat on the steps, along with many tourists and locals. Mike got his camera and said he was going to take photos and then to meet him down there so we could make our wishes. You throw a coin into the fountain and make a wish, also it guarantees your return to Rome. When we went back to sitting, we spoke of our wishes and he asked me mine. I said to be happy in life. When I asked him his, he said "For you to be my wife." At first I didn't believe him since he's a jokester and has played around before, so my response was "Yeah babe, you know I will one day." Then he asked again and I responded with "Are you being serious? If you are, where's the ring?" He said, "In my pocket, hold on." Once he took it out and I saw it I knew he was being serious! He put it on my finger, and on one knee...on a step, he asked "Will you marry me?" I said "Yes!!!" and just hugged him so tightly and gave him so many kissies! Here's our first picture as an engaged couple! The ring, 1.52 Round Brilliant, from wonderful Fortunoffs before they went out of business, I'll admit I picked the stone and a setting from different rings..so it's not like I saw the actual ring lol He was an amazing bf, he gave me a price range and I was 60% less of what he wanted to spend and bigger than 1ct, cause he said it was too small for me lol He's funny! I felt like the 1.5 range was perfect bc it symbolized who we are and where we are now in life. I dont ever want to upgrade and this is my absolute dream ring. Since our engagement, we have visited Mexico, found the perfect resort we're marrying at, bought a wedding dress, sent out save the dates, pretty much the big stuff out of the way and I'm very exited. We're starting our house hunt this week. Everything is about perfect..other than my weight lol and I have no steady job (recent college grad amongst the many teachers without a job in NJ) Thanks for letting me share
  2. How funny! My now fiance planned Venice too but those Gondolas were far from romantic so when we arrived in venice I said oooh they look tacky.. there he went to part b..somewhere in rome? So he proposed 2 nights before we returned at the trevi. Perfeito!
  3. Thats cute! You guys can incorporate some of that "LIKE" comment bubbles on your STD's or invites
  4. Fresh roses or whimsical topper? I can't decide lol
  5. Thanks! I just want it for the aisle..super covered and for some tossing and flower girls. I'm going to estimate about 45-50 cups. I don't want them anywhere else lol no scattering on tables, nada.
  6. I hate the white cover and bows too, i'm just going to rent out the tiffany gold chairs. Adds such elegance.
  7. I posted the response..now my inspiration board. Colors are burgandy, sage, and gold. They've changed since we first started picking colors lol. Now I think it's official
  8. Gonna keep it simple (& green) and not let the paper overcome our reception. I'm going to print it out and frame it in a gold trim frame. It'll match our table number frames.
  9. This is my first inspiration project.. I love love love red roses and candles..so their will be some mix. Low centerpieces..not the high ones in the picture. Our colors: Burgandy, Sage, Gold
  10. I'm definitely wearing shoes.. I can't possibly dress down my gorgeous dress.. I'd feel semi naked lol Now the question is..what shoes..
  11. Im doing no beach theme by any means..just romantic and relaxed This isn't my cake but maybe an inspiration pic. I want two round tiers..but i'm not gonna stress over it since I know Mexico doesn't do the best cakes lol
  12. I'm still in the search of some nice shoes.. I was thinking Louboutin too, anyone have CL's as their wedding shoes?
  13. I can't believe I haven't seen my dress since November, when I bought it! But until August 2012..I have awhile lol. How long before I go to fittings?
  14. Another close up pic of the mesh wire like covering on the crystals. very unique, exactly what I wanted I tried it on, bbmd her and she approved! my mom jokes around that one day i'm just gonna come home with her dress bought too lol.
  15. My sisters - knee lenth silk with a thin chiffon (i think) layer over. Crystal beading on top. Found it at nieman marcuss last call. Since I only have my sister in the bridal party as my MOH, it worked out great. Marked originally at $300, then on sale for $100ish, then a 20% off with additional 20% off promotion they were doing around the holidays..came out for $67. It matches my color to a tee!
  16. That's a gorgeous dress, wouldn't mind it for myself lol.
  17. ^ Thanks..I need to get on the ball..
  18. Not at all. We got the long envelopes as you see in the picture and with weight..I think it was 61cents.
  19. i wonder how many posts i have lol... we're doing the boarding pass invites too, so we need these 150 posts
  20. Maritza, the photographer that is included in the wedding packages are good, ask for Jhankarlo (he works for adventure photos) If you don't book a package, then they have their own packages. I wonder if they're still offering free photo session, that way you and your fiance can try him out. I'm very particular about photography and was ready to book Elizabeth Medina for $6k..but he floored me with his work! I loved it! Amy G, I didn't know they had different names for the terraces lol but I guess the beach terrace.
  21. I'm a 2012 bride August 24. I think the Now offered the terrance which is gorgeous and it's nice to have a seperate reception/ceremony within a close proximity which not many resorts have. That's why we're selecting the terrace for the reception and beach for ceremony. That's ideal. Good luck with all the planning. You can lock in your date by March.
