  1. from what I read its brides name first then husband..when you're single. when you're married its mans name then womans.
  2. Smidge, I really appreciate your response. My family and close friends are supportive..everyone else I share details with are like "why?" "that seems costly" and blah blah..but everyone else is fine with it So I think I'll definitely know once I go down to Mexico and see personally Thanks again!
  3. Hi everyone, Ever since I was younger I knew I didn't want a traditional wedding..local, local church, everyone and your parents friends invited..200+..so and so. We always joked in the family saying I'd get married on a mountain. So now we're engaged and planning a site visit to Mexico and I just came to wondering..what lead me toward Mexico? I looked at other islands and places and just didn't "feel" anything. But I feel very comfortable with Mexico as in stress free and looks gorgeous and laid back. Two yrs ago I had a nightmare that everything went wrong at my "beach" wedding, I was in the DR and saw an awful set up and everything looked tacky.. Did anyone ever feel like this? My wedding is only 2 yrs away lol and I know I have time, but does anyone ever regret a destination wedding? Is what I'm feeling common? Somewhat like 2nd thoughts? (Although, I def know I don't want a local wedding..) Thanks in advance!

  5. Thanks all! I've been contemplating Riviera Maya..and for some odd reason lately- I'm even considering Portugal. But idk...euros vs usd and planning a wedding there would be difficult since we're rarely there vacationing and few wedding coordinators.
  6. avong..they responded via facebook and gave me a different email to contact so we've been talking via email. They didn't offer any special rates and whatnot, so I just booked through expedia. We're planning a visit there and to dreams and RIU in 3weeks. I just want to be 100% sure for our 2012 wedding..crazy right lol. No questions but thanks for your help
  7. Angie, remember you telling me about letting them know in advance that we were making a site visit? Well I emailed them twice in the past week and no response. We're afraid if we wait any longer that we'll get more expensive plane tickets. Any advice? Possibly call? Thanks

Thanks Angie, I definitely will. The rates are about $200 per night with an upgrade to the preferred room. So glad I posted before booking
  9. So glad to join this thread We're thinking Aug 24, 2012. It would be my late future mother in laws 50th and if it's appropriate and ok with the brothers, we'd like to keep her in memory that day. We're going to Riviera Maya next month and we're staying at the Now Sapphire (because that's our #1 pick) & we have dreams and RIU palace in mind to look at as well. Any other suggestions are welcome. We're looking for a family, all inclusive resort, with fun amenities! Under $1000 pp hopefully! Congrads all newly engaged!
  10. I figured their prices aren't up till mid 2011, but its only really about prices. Its about a 12% increase someone mentioned to me. So I guess you can figure that one and see if its okay. I'm getting married in 2012 too and want to be super prepared myself
  11. Hi everyone! This august me and my fiance are planning a site visit to at least 3 locations. My #1 pick has gotta be the Now Sapphire and we want to add 2 more, probably RIU Palace and Dreams Riviera Cancun? Now my question is, I don't even know where to start lol. We're thinking of staying at the Now because of the insane promotions going on and depending on our visit, we're gonna book with them Although we might not exactly since our wedding is in 2012. What should I look into while I'm down at the location? Should I look into photography and other vendors? Please help Thanks! Janice

I found the resort first, and while I LOVED the Azul Beach, I wish I would have kept my eyes open to other places, especially if they would have been cheaper for my guests - or had gotten me better deals on my wedding package. Good luck! Great suggestion! I have a few in mind we have to check out. But my must have's are affordability, amenities, all-inclusive, allows kids and preferably private ceremony/beach wedding.
  13. Congrads, I got proposed to 8 days after you I've been searching like mad and I have the same concerns as you. We're right now thinking Riviera Maya (we enjoy mexico) but didn't want it in the cancun area, where it is a bit more crowded. Mexico seemed more carefree and affordable than Europe were we originally were considering, even then still might be an option. For now..it's a favorable choice to go with the Now Sapphire. I really enjoy it how its on the private beach then reception following on the deck. Plus most of my family is traveling from Portugal and the language barrier won't be too crazy. Italy is still in the back of my mind, so who knows?! Gluck!
  14. Thank you for such warm welcomes!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this forum! Overnight, I swear I think we found a place..the Now Sapphire. They just seem to have everything we both like! Not 100% sure yet, need to do more talking with df
  15. Medina, I saw your work a few days earlier and have to say that your work is amazing. How is possible that you get to shoot the weddings? A lot of coordinators say that you can't have your own vendors. Do you stay at the hotel to make this happen? Thanks.
  16. Mexico? lol Not sure but that's our idea at the current moment- specifically in Riviera Maya. Name: Janice & Michael Wedding Date: 6/24/12..but apparently they don't do weddings on Sundays Many may wonder why two years? Well next year we're looking to buy a house, then go through with the wedding the following year so I figure it'd give us enough time. We're in no rush Enjoying our engagement. Wedding Location: Definitely open, but probably Mexico to make it the most economical for all our guests. Originally we were gonna do Italy but they don't offer all inclusive and it just might be too expensive for us to do it in Europe, although we do have family traveling from Portugal. Also, I just tried emailing DestinationWeddings.com yesterday to ask for a refund. I signed up a week ago and just read all the reviews yesterday and feel best to not go through with them. I'm so glad I found this forum, I think it's going to make my life easier! Plus, I enjoy forums, I'm also part of the Purseforum. Hope to meet many friendlies
