Ladies I am so excited!!!! I finally ordered my bridesmaids dresses. If any of you have read my previous post you may know that at one point all of my bridesmaids had dropped out on me. Well, I could not order dresses because my bridesmaids were an ever changing situation. We think we have it all in order now but you never know lol. Anyway, I am a member of the Ideeli website and today they had a sale on the Ravon convertible dress. It was only $69!!!!!!!!!!!!! And one size fits all!!!!!!!!!! And in my wedding color!!!!!!!!!!! Yipeeee!!!!! Needless to say I ordered 4 for all the girls (my treat because they are spending so much and using vacay time just to come). I am so happy! I love the versatility of this dress and I am sure that they will all be able to wear it again and again (even if they gain weight lol). Below are a few pictures of the dress as well as a link to a video demonstration of the dress (the one on the model in the video is the exact one that I bought). Your dog in the pic is so funny !! My dog does that. Whenever we take a picture in the house he goes and sits by whoever we are taking a picture of. He is even in my facebook profile pic. I thought I just had a narcissitic pooch lol.

Mochamakes3, I finally had it with Lorena. We had a pretty big issue this past Monday and I was beyond upset!!!! Tuesday afternoon I wrote a letter 4 pages long and emailed it to her, Lisa and blind copied the membership department. I outlined what my experience has been from the beginning, what issues I was having, and what I hoped they would do about it. This morning I received a response from Lisa. She was very nice and fixed all of my issues. I hate that it had to get to that point but I am glad that I handled it and got the issue resolved.

Georgia Peach, I went with La Luna which is a sub company of Del Sol. Matt from Del Sol was actually once here in Georgia (I realized that when I saw a 678 area code on an email) for some reason that made me more comfortable. So far they have been an absolute joy to work with (just based off communication alone).

I think the 2nd one is amazing on you! Also in the 2nd pic of the 2nd dress you look really happy.

Does anyone have info on hiring Salsa Dancers? I would love to have someone get the party started and teach my guest some moves.

My ceremony is 6pm. Cocktail hour 6:30-7pm. Reception 7pm until! We picked 6 for the ceremony so that we could get half of our pictures in the sun and the other half at sunset.

I do not like the ceremony script. I want to hire a minister to perform most of the ceremony. I will ask that the justice of peace just do what is needed to make it legal. I dont understand this new policy of not allowing changes to the ceremony script. This is our wedding, why should there only be words spoken that do not move us or have meaning for us? And I definitely can not get married without any mention of God!!! I am waiting for a reply to my question of hiring an outside minister and limiting the function of the justice of peace to just the legal stuff. Hopefully they will be okay with that.

Sorry to hear that. We had a hit and run accident 3 years ago on the way FI's b-day party. That is so cowardly to hit someone and keep going. I actually hit one of my neighbors car a couple years ago. It was 5am and I was the only person out. The only damage was a few scratches. I left a note on their car with my contact infromation. They called and didn't even want to accept anything because they were so pleased that I took the time to leave my contact information even though no one saw the accident. We still gave them a check for the paint repair to be done. It just feels better to be honest. As far as stress goes: I have had two of my three bridesmaids inform me (this week) that they will not be able to attend the wedding; I am in my first semester of grad school and my methods of research course is beyond confusing; I have a collateral duty assignment at work that is now requiring overnight travel; I am in a bootcamp to lose this exrta weight and it is exhausting; and someone tried to break into my house last week while I was home alone. Stress is an understatement!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (There is more but It would take to long to type it all) On the positive side, In 3 months and 11 days I will be marrying the one person that can make me smile in the midst of all this craziness!

Exactly!!!!! If I had not bothered to call to double check my contact info on my invites I would not have known either my guest would have been trying to book with a ghost. This Lorena that they have replacing her is a piece of work!! It wasnt what she was saying it was how she was saying it. She was sooooo rude!!! I couldn't believe she got irritated and told me that I wasn't the only bride there are 150 others. I dont care how many brides she has it is her job to make me feel like I am the only one!!! When I called my aunt she got very upset. I have been so laid back about this whole wedding process. For me to get upset is a big deal! I HATE bad customer service!!!!!!!!!!! I just know that Lorena and I are not going to work. II still cant believe that they are not notifying the brides of this situation!

Vent-Long Okay I am very upset with palace resorts right now! I booked my wedding through my aunts membership a the Moon Palace. My MIA contact was Pilar Fernandez. She sent me a booking form that my guest are supposed to fax or email to her to book rooms. She also said that they could call her directly to book. Ok, this week we wanted to get our formal invites out (I am so behind because of grad school). When I got the final proof I decided to double check the contact information to be sure that it was correct. Imagine my surprise when I called the number only to find out that Pilar was no longer with the company! I finally got some lady on the phone that informed me that Lorena Bohorquez would be my new contact but she was out of the office at the time. I left a message for Lorena. That was 3 days ago. Today I call back and finally get Lorena on the phone. Here was the convo. Me: Hello, Lorena. I have been informed that you are my new coordinator. I wanted to be sure that Pilar has given you my information and I am also curious as to why I was not notified that I had been reassigned. Lorena: (after asking for my contract # and name) Yes I have you confirmed for Moon Palace, May 20, 2011 at 6pm. We were going to notify all the brides that had been reassigned but its only been over a week since she left. Me: Over a week is a lot of time when I almost printed $350 worth of invitations with the wrong contact information on them. Lorena: (in a condescending tone) There are like a 150 brides, you are not the only one. Why would you put one person's contact information on your invitations? I dont thinks thats a good idea. Me: Pilar told me that my guest would have to book via fax, email, or phone directly with her. Isn't that how weddings through the member weddings are done? Lorena: Well yes, but it is high season and we are very busy. If they call and IF they get through they will probably have to leave a message and it will be 48 hours before I will be able to get to them. Me: Well do you have any other options for my guest to book? Lorena: You can get everyone's info together and give it all to me at one time. Me: (getting irritated) Excuse me?! Lorena: Or if you dont want all of your guest calling you, you could assign someone to collect everyone's information for you. Me: I am planning this wedding on my own and I am not going to ask any of my guest to be in charge of everyone's bookings. Lorena: (sarcastic): Well you can just give them my number and they can keep calling until they get through, IF they get through. Me: (pissed but trying to contain it): Non members get a link for their guest to book online. Why is the process so inconvient for members? Are their no other options? Lorena: They can fax the card authorization form but it would still be 48 hours for a response. Me: I dont think my guest are going to be happy with faxing their credit card information and not getting a response for 48 hours. Lorena: Yeah its just going to create a cycle and either way your guest are going to end up calling you about it. At that point I got off the phone as I just really could not deal with her anymore. I think I am going to call back and speak with a manager. I am so upset. Pilar was unorganized but at least she had decent customer service skills. I am so irritated right now!

I have had a few guest express concern and 1 decide to not come. What has worked for me is being very understanding. I am careful to not trivalize their feelings. What is going on in Mexico is very real and is not just at the border, but it is also NOT in the resort areas. I picked a large resort with lots of things to do because I wanted my guest to feel comfortable coming. There are some of us that will go site seeing throught the local area but those that are not okay with that have plenty to do on the resort. I let my guest no that I understand how they feel but that I would also not put them or myself in any danger. Me and FI being so understanding and reassuring has put a lot of our guest fears to rest and we are no longer hearing any concerns or complaints. Teh guest that decided not to come was very upfront that she was scared. My reply was "I completely understand and I would not want you to spend money on a vacation that you would not be able to relax and enjoy. Its okay and there are no hard feelings". It is easy to say that people just have excuses but to be honest their fears are valid to them. The American media has done so much to highlight the crime in Mexico, so it is understandable why people feel the way they do (its not right but it is understandable). In the end all we can do is ensure our guest that we have done our research and are confidant in the security of the locations that we have picked, and be understanding (not upset) at the people who choose not to go (unless they really are being an ass and giving you a hard time). I will enjoy my day even if it is just me and FI!

I would explain to your TA that (when you were researching your options)you confirmed with the Palace Resorts groups sales department that no deposit is needed to hold a room block. Then ask her if she would be able to try again to secure one without the deposit. Its probably just her company's policy. If she cant then maybe you should go directly through the resort or use one of the TAs on this site. I secured my first room block the day I mailed my STDs so that things would be in place for people who wanted to book right away. Our TAs contact info was included on our STD and all of the payment amounts and deadlines were on our website.

We originally blocked 20 rooms with our TA in late July/early August. Guest had until mid September (about 45 days) to pay a $100 deposit to hold their rooms. About half of our guest (12 rooms) booked then. In October the left over rooms were released back to the resort. Beginning of December we booked a second room block of 15 rooms directly with the wedding department. Guest have until March 18th to book those rooms. The reason we did the second room block directly with the wedding department was because our TA said she could not get any additional rooms at the rate we had for the first set of guest. My Miami wedding contact was able to guaranteed me the same rate that the first set of guest had. All rooms are being counted in our group booking. We did pay the deposit for the wedding ($300) but not for the room block. To be honest sometimes I have to work around my TA to get answers and get things accomplished. And to think we picked a destination wedding because we thought it would be simple lol!
