  1. Danitha, We chose the Emerald Package, but made a few changes. You can basically customize anything you want, so if you don't like the packages, you can speak with them about substituting things. Otherwise, you can go with the free package and add to it a la carte. The ferry was no issue. If anything, we loved being so close to all the action. It was great because if you have guests that don't like to leave the resort, they will be happy. But if you have guests who like to get out and see the town, you're literally a 5 minute walk to Playa Del Carmen. There was no trash and the beach is amazing. Tell your fiance he has nothing to worry about. We used desinationweddings.com for our travel agent. To be honest, I probably would do it myself next time. Most of my guests had trouble communicating with her and it caused me more stress than doing it myself. I'm pretty sure the resort makes it easy to book groups, so I'd look into that first. The only thing my TA was able to get that we couldn't through the hotel was free transportation. The resort offered us $10 per person for roundtrip transportation. Hope that help...good luck! Samantha
  2. We chose the Emerald Package. Above is the ceremony set up on the beach and my bouquet that my sister was holding. I chose to add the Gerbera Daisy as a tribute to my mom who died several years ago. The rest of the bouquet was one of the options in the package. Below is a reception table and the cake cutting. Below is the cocktail hour...their presentation with all the food was amazing! Above is the ceremony. We opted to upgrade to the mariachi instead of the soloist included in our package. I hope this helps. I have lots more pictures if you're looking for something specific, let me know. Good luck! Samantha
  3. Hi Everyone, I'm sorry it's taken so long to post, but I was married at PP in November and had the most amazing experience. To sum it up...we had 60 guests. We did a welcome cocktail/hor d'ouerves get together on Friday night in the South Solarium, ceremony on the beach, reception in the North Solarium, and brunch on Sunday in the asian restaurant. The service, food and resort overall was outstanding. Our guests are still talking about it and had a blast. Dulce was our wedding coordinator and she is the best! I wasn't really particular about things like the cake, flowers, small details. But she is! She took my vague vision and turned it into the most incredible wedding I could've imagined. I will try and post some pics if I can figure out how to do it on this website. If anyone has specific questions about PP, please don't hesitate to ask. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat...PP is wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone. For anyone having doubts or concerns, don't worry, it really will be amazing! Samantha
  4. Tanya, Thanks for the info, I'll definitely ask about the vases. I'm also bringing votives and have table runners as well. Do you have any pictures you can post yet? What did you go with for food and how did it taste? How about the bar? Sorry to ask so many questions, but I'm so glad you're here to help! Thanks, Samantha
  5. Hi Tanya, First of all...Congratulations! I'm so happy to hear your wedding was a success. My wedding is 2 weeks from tomorrow and I'm really excited after hearing your wedding went so well. What did you end up doing for centerpieces? I know you said you were going to go to WalMart and see what they had for hurricanes. Did they have anything worth using? Also, which package did you purchase and what did you do about music for the ceremony and cocktail hour? I have so many questions...any info would be great! Thanks and congrats again! Samantha
  6. Tanya, Dulce is getting a quote for me on tall hurricane vases, but I was told we can't bring in outside flowers. I don't know how strict they are about that, so you should probably ask her. As for DJ's...they gave me two options and while we were there for our site visit, one of them was doing a wedding. His sound system was incredible and they did a really nice set up, so we decided to go with them...J&S Audio Visual. Our contact, Michell has been great and very responsive. I can pass along the info if you're interested. Â Sam
  7. Alisha, Do you know if you had the Mexican Buffet or the Yucatan Buffet? Also, what did you do for decorations...do you have an pictures? Any other information or advice you can provide would be great! Â
  8. We didn't do a tasting for dinner, but did for the cake. We are having our reception in the North Solarium outside, so we have to go with a buffet. I was very overwhelmed when I saw all the options. We want to do local cuisine for our menu, but not sure of some of the items listed on the Mexican and Yucatan menus. Dulce told us we can mix menus if we want, so hopefully, it won't be a problem. Since we ate in both restaurants and buffet and were please with the quality of the food, I'm not too worried about the food being good at the wedding. Have you picked any food for your wedding? Maybe you could suggest something for us.
  9. Hi everyone, Just wanted to let you all know that I just returned from a site visit and everything was great! Yes, Gilberto is gone and they are in a period of transition, but the new coordinator we were assigned is fantastic. Her name is Dulce and she is currently working at both Aventura Spa Palace and Playacar Palace. However, she will be strictly working at Playacar Palace soon. There is also another coordinator working there as well. We are getting married there Nov 6 and had already booked our wedding before our trip. I was so relieved once we got there and realized it was a wonderful as we had hoped. All the staff was so nice and provided great service. The food was way better than I would have expected for an all inclusive. The location is incredible if you like to get off the resort and walk around in town. The beach renovation turned out beautifully! It looks amazing. I will try and post some pics as soon as possible. Hope that helps everyone.
  10. I would love to see some more pics if you wouldn't mind sending them to me. Also, anything in your list of 200 questions that you think I should ask would be great. I always feel like I'm missing something!
  11. Hi everyone. I'm getting married at PP on Nov 6, 2010. I haven't been there yet, just going on reviews and pics. I'm so glad to have found this post! Thank you everyone for so much great information. For those of you who have done a site visit, did they go over all the options for your ceremony and reception? Were they able to show pics of real weddings? We're thinking of going down for a site visit to take care of all the details and check out the resort....is it worth the trip? We booked the beach for the ceremony and North Solarium for the reception and expect about 70 guests. I'm a little overwhelmed when looking at the brochure of all the decoration and food options. Do you have any suggestions on how to make decisions from home? Thanks again for any info! Samantha
