  1. There are several threads about this and basically the idea is that Cancun and Riviera Maya are hundreds of miles (if not actually over 1000 miles) away from the dangerous border towns. So it is like saying you are not going to visit Nashville, TN because there are murders in New York City. And like mmcst38 said, there is just as much violence in the US. I hate to make this reference, but how much more dangerous is leaving your resort in Cancun, Mexico than going to the grocery store in Tuscon, AZ? As long as you keep your eyes open and use common sense (as you would in any American city), then you will be fine. You need to do what will make you happy for your wedding. If that means having your wedding in Mexico, then all you can do is try to educate your families. Best of luck.
  2. I like this idea. Put the wording from the different portions of the ceremony (like readings, sand ceremony, ring exchange, etc) with a picture of that part of the ceremony. You could even take that through to the reception with lyrics from the first dance and quotes from any toasts.
  3. The luminaries for table numbers or place cards that are for sale on etsy normally say that they use heat resistant double sided tape. (If you do LED lights or the battery tea candles, then the heat resistant part isn't important.) The etsy sellers all say that the velum they use can stand up on its own. However, for having an outdoor reception they suggest putting a votive holder in the middle. One seller (who was selling luminaries that were larger in diameter than others) suggested putting a wine glass in the middle and putting the light source in the wine glass. I think luminary table numbers is a great idea, but I don't want to have to pack votive candle holders and I am not sure if I can expect the WC at my resort to put the wine glass in as support. What do you ladies think?
