I would be upset about this. My recommendation would be to tell her that you are sad (not mad!)that as your MOH she hasn't been participating in your wedding planning. I would tell her that you understand she is quite busy planning her wedding in such a short period of time (don't tell her your assumption is that she is jealous and rushing to the altar)...but that you hope she can participate more after she is married. If you two were otherwise close, then I think she needs to know she has made you upset by ignoring your wedding. I dont' think it will do any good to teel her your hypothesis on the timing of her wedding - as that likely wouldn't bother you if she were still participating fully and was excited about your wedding.

Your wedding pictures are wonderful! But I too am looking forward to your TTD pictures. The one teaser pic you posted looked amazing.

I would hate to feel that I was inviting myself and would rather not go than risk doing that...so in this situation I would respond to her one more time and say that since you haven't received any details and the wedding is so close and you do not want to cause her any stress that you will not attend but will be thinking of her on her special day. That way if she already has you planned for a meal and a seating assignment she will hurry up and write back. But if she was just trying to find a non-confrontational way to keep the invite list smaller, you have already backed out.

Your review was great - so glad you got lucky with the weather. I think I would be so upset if I went all the way to Mexico for an inside wedding. Though I am sure the resort knows how to make that special too. For your teaser pic, you looked beautiful! You were definitely rocking that dress... Please let us know when the rest of the pics come in! I have been checking out everyone's pictures as the get married and collecting all of the great locations/poses. And thanks for the tip about dry cleaning at the resort. It would be way more expensive back in the US too!

Can you explain how the restaurant reservation process works at Dreams? I have been to a couple of different all-inclusives and their systems were different. One opened reservations for that night at 8am and you had to physically go to the front desk to make the reservation. Another there was no reservation process - you just showed up and put your name on a list. I would love to not have to pay for a rehearsal dinner....

Your photographer did an amazing job! I would love to do a sunrise TTD, but I have a feeling there will be no way to convince my fiance to get up that early.

I agree that you should inlist your fiance to tell his mother that it is never acceptable (regardless of traditional or destination wedding) for any guest to wear white. If it were me speaking to my mother about something like that I would feel comfortable saying something like "and you knew it wasn't okay or you wouldn't have asked the question". She needs to save that white dress for dinner another night of the vacation. If the dress has a print on top of white, that is a different story - but all white is unacceptable. Best of luck.

For my wedding at Dreams Cancun: I am choosing a package for $2799 that includes the ceremony, cocktail hour, and private reception (3hrs with alcohol) for 20 people. Per person above 20 you are looking at $93 (after taxes and tip), it would be ~$65 per person for just the reception and no cocktail hour. Extending the reception past 3 hours will be ~$400/hr for the DJ and $20/pp/hr for keeping the drinks coming. I think $2000 - $3000 would be reasonable for a good (but not best) photographer. So $10,000 is definitely doable for the wedding day itself - how much above that will depend on things like how crazy you want to go with flowers, how expensive your flight/hotel will be.

A lot of other countries do day-month-year, so 11 April 2011. My company is international so they would make us write that date as 11Apr11 so there would be no confusion between countries.

I am so with you on this!! I feel like I am completely at a place where I can't do any more for the wedding in Mexico for a while. Since my dress is in, I even have all of my accessories for the day: shoes, hair flower, jewelry, and garter. I am just going to have to wait until it is time to make invites and then time to buy things once I know how many guests are coming. In the interim I have started thinking a bit more about our At Home Party.

I like dress #2 - it has structure to it, which gives you more shape, but without swallowing you like #3 does. I assume #2 is from David's Bridal - if so does # 2 have a ruffle down the back? If so, I tried that dress on and the ruffle was my absolute favorite part - you would look great coming and going!

I am to the point in my planning where I am just waiting to find out how many guests we will have. I have located a lot of the stuff online that I will buy and am just saving the links in a word doc until I know how much to order. During this "down time" I am focusing a bit on the At Home Party - we booked a DJ a few weeks back and tomorrow I go and taste cupcakes! I plan on sending out my invitations in late April/beginning of May - that will be 6 months ahead of my Nov 5th wedding. My group rate ends mid-August, so that will give 3 months to finalize any plans. Congrats on the dress! I got mine last July!! So once a month I go and "visit" it at my parents' house. You can't have a wedding dress for that long without trying it on over and over again! (especially every time you get an accesory like your hair flower, jewelry, and shoes - which I have all of the above)

I wonder if they will even let you do silk flowers, because if they blow away they could blow into the ocean - so in effect you would be littering into the ocean. I have heard a few brides on here mention freeze dried rose petals - so they would still be okay for the environment.

Good question - I assumed the answer was 8, but that would possibly do 6 for you if you asked. Past brides, does that sound right? I plan on buying a few extra table runners so there can be one on the cake table, one on an escort card table (if we have enough guests to justify escort cards), etc.

Good thing I am already a full member, or the moderators would think I am doing this just to up my post count! My suggestion would be either to go with Nov 12th or skip all the way to January. With January, you have refreshed your vacation days for the year (and put more distance between you wedding trip and your AHR trip which might be better for work), you avoid the holiday higher prices, and you give your sister even more time to settle things.

Your pictures are great - I love that you were able to almost get 2 trash the dress sessions (one the day of the wedding and one the day after). And I love that you got so many locations for your TTD - forest (the shots with the large tree are amazing), waterfall, beach, pool, waterslide.... Even though it is not the "best" picture (I think with the tree might be the best composed in my opinion), I think my favorite is of the two of you at the pool bar.

May is just 6 months prior to November - nothing magic about 6 months. Since I sent my STDs at 11 months, I feel like 6 months is a good reminder time. Also, my group rate at my resort runs out in mid-August, so that gives them about 3 months to get plans finalized. JenK - that dress is beautiful.
