A lot of people who get legally married at home don't exchange rings or vows and just do the paperwork so it doesn't feel "real" until the destination wedding.
Here's a thread with a lot of helpful info:

that sounds like a great (but difficult) plan! i have about 12 vegan cookbooks at home that aren't being put to good use because most of the recipes incorporate soy which my FI can't tolerate but maybe i could do vegan lunches at work and cut out the rest of the junk. except caffeine, i would cry

You can do it either way, but a lot of people do the legal part at home before because it's a hassle with having to get to Mexico 3-4 days early, document translations, blood tests, etc.
I'm hoping for around $9,000 as my budget inclusive of everything. It will be very small with no attendants.

I need to get back on track w/ Insanity. I did it for 2 weeks and got discouraged because the scale was going up, but now it's back down 2 but my pants feel tighter. Ugh. I hate how complicated it is!! The workouts seem to go by really fast though. I'll probably do it til I can order Turbo Fire!!!
You should just get her number (& e-mail, facebook, etc.) blocked. That's what my FI did when one of his ex-girlfriend's went crazy and started calling him everyday and sending me facebook messages and stuff.
